The game needs several improvements. One recurring request is for a next-gen version. However, I don’t think this will happen anytime soon for Rust Console, as the developers seem focused on keeping the game centered around old-gen consoles. To make the game enjoyable for both old-gen and new-gen players, we need options like sliders in the settings menu. These sliders would allow players to optimize their experience based on their console. Additionally, features like different map sizes and player population limits could help cater to both groups.

Another suggestion for the developers is to reassess the number of old-gen players, especially after the holidays, as many players will likely upgrade to new-gen consoles. If the percentage of old-gen players drops below 25%, the developers should analyze their spending habits (e.g., skins and add-ons). If spending is low and the player base is small, it might make sense to stop catering to old-gen consoles entirely. From a business standpoint, this would be the most logical decision.

Suggested Sliders

Here are some sliders that could be added to the settings menu:
• Graphics Slider: Allows players to adjust graphics settings. (Note: The game may need to reboot to apply changes.)
• FOV (Field of View) Slider: This was previously in the game but later removed. It was a great feature, and it would be helpful to know why it was removed.
• Resolution Customization: For players who prefer stretched resolutions that may not be supported by their TV/monitor. (This might affect the FOV slider.)

Official Server and Map Changes

Another major area for improvement is official server changes. All server updates should ideally be rolled out simultaneously, except for experimental features like “main servers,” which could undergo testing before full implementation. Below are some ideas:

Server Changes:

  1. Main Servers: Introduce official servers with larger maps and higher player populations, such as “EU Main” or “EST Main.” These servers would cultivate a centralized player base and retain consistent names after server wipes. Variations like “EST Small” (with smaller teams or lower populations) could also be introduced. This would reduce reliance on community servers, which are often unreliable or prone to admin abuse.
  2. Map Size: Increase the map size for certain servers to accommodate higher player populations. Old-gen players could still have smaller maps if they prefer.
  3. Server Population: Increase the maximum player count on servers to improve the overall experience.
  4. New Monuments: Add monuments to larger maps, such as:
    • Military Base (potentially including MLRS rockets)
    • Underground Tunnels (This could be implemented sooner, as it wouldn’t require larger maps or higher player counts. The community would likely love this addition.)

New Recoil System

The new recoil system on PC helped grow the game and could do the same for console. However, the new recoil system shouldn’t be implemented until features like official main servers, better graphics, or a graphics slider are added. These improvements would ensure new players stay engaged.

New Skins

Skins are an exciting feature, but the skin-buying experience on console is significantly different from PC. Below are some ideas to enhance it:

  1. Skin Trading: Adding a built-in skin trading system would encourage community interaction.
  2. Shorter Shop Rotations: The skin shop rotates too slowly, in my opinion. Alternatively, the issue could be addressed by introducing more unique skins with each rotation.
  3. Expanded Shop: Adding more skins per rotation and including a “Returning” tab for older skins would give players more options and encourage spending.

Skin licenses are not transferable between accounts, trading will not be added.

So if anything it’d have to be done through consoles alone and Xbox and PlayStation wouldnt do that

think about games like fortnite where they have updates planned months in advance, but also think of the size of their team. D11 is a small development group, take this into consideration.

exactly.

#

to implement all of the things you've mentioned (that are possible in future fantasy) would take multiple years, and some (if not all) things would need tweaking beyond base release.

#

also think that console rust has been out for 4 years, and it's mostly caught up to PC (again, with possible updates atm)

#

sry small rant

I feel like most things I’ve mentioned wouldnt take years to implement

#

But they’d all of course need extensive tweaking

Rust Console has been in development for 4 years, Rust PC has been in development for 14 years with a dedicated team since that's the only game face punch makes, unlike D11 who works with a much larger client base

the thing with higher pop servers is that as the pop rises the cpu usage rises exponentially, you can see this in most servers since a server at 80 pop might have a stable 60 fps but increasing just 20 players can cause bad fps issues, this means better hardware would barely have an effect on server performance.

we need better optimised servers similar to how minecraft servers have mods like lithium.
