Farm up enough materials to make a 2x1 or 2x2 base, make all of it stone as soon as possible, put an airlocked entrance on it, after you have your tool cupboard down with at least 3 furnaces and some boxes try to get a gun or two from locked crates or airdrops.
Also try to get green, blue, and red keycards from their respective monuments so that you can farm scrap to research items, make better weapons and items from workbenches etc

Yo! So here goes, break it down as new player friendly as I can:
Firstly maybe pick a server with a lower population so youâre not getting murdered over and over again right out the gate, it can be super demotivating for new players.
- When you spawn, pull up the map and check it out. See if any of the areas look appealing to you for a base location. Take into account youâll need building materials (wood, stone) to get your base going, and if youâre new youâll wanna stay away from larger monuments at first (Launch, Power, Train, etc).
- Once youâve chosen you can do one of two thing: Start the journey to the area you want to build in, or head towards Outpost while farming barrels and crates along the roads and smaller monuments (gas station, supermarket, lighthouse) so you can collect scrap and buy stuff at Outpost.
- Get yourself a building plan, hammer, Tool Cabinet, 2 doors, and 3 locks all crafting while youâre gathering building materials so once youâre ready to build you can do so quickly. For good starter builds just hit YT for a design, itâs a lot to explain here. Biggest thing would be getting the âairlockâ in, which is just a set of two doors opening into each other. For example a single door that opens in, and a single door that opens out. This way even if someone gets thru one door the other door is blocking the entrance and they canât go deep on ya.
- Once youâre safe and secure in your starter base, the game kinda starts. Farm small monuments and roads for crafting materials, recycling materials, and scrap. I suggest recycling basically everything until you have enough scrap to craft a Tier 1 workbench. After that you can start hoarding materials lol.
Thereâs tons and tons of more stuff, but thatâs a good baseline to get you up and running.
I tend to just farm the ocean personally instead of monuments for scrap more for less time with less risk of being jumped mid farm run
This is a great tip as well! Just watch for sharks lol.
4,000-7,000 scrap/hour if you recycle everything and trade all hqm metal and cloth in at bandit + up to 13,000 scrap/hour if on a pure scrap tea between hitting the rafts and sunken wreckages both
the tea only helps with barrels on the rafts/roads
Oh that I did not know, thatâs a great piece of info thanks! Iâm no vet just hit 350 hrs.
lol fair been playing myself if you include my time on pc since 2013 but I more or less stopped pc rust the wipe they added community on console just tired of pc since they removed all skill based gameplay and wants to make sure everything is new player friendly for example recoil used to take people weeks or even months to learn now people can learn it in a matter of minutes on pc
Damn Iâm actually about to do the opposite haha, going from console to PC. Im looking forward to modded thatâs why lol. Thanks for the tips homie!
I prefer vanilla or less ran only vanilla or 0.5x servers on pc and only vanilla on console
Itâs less about the rates for me and more the additional mechanics on some modded servers, been looking specifically at Lazarus.
I prefer a challenge I'm not the type to look for a easy experience but a fun/challenging one
Same here, I donât mind grinding at all
if I remember right I played the Lazarus server on pc for the 0.5x in the past but I also played my own servers in the past ran 3 servers for 6.5 years till I was forced to close them down due to price being to expensive to maintain
like I said I strictly play vanilla or 0.5x
whenever the options available I plan to make a hardcore server mapless with irl day/night times with no safe zones
