Does anyone know a good way to get a fast start? I usually just hit the roads and try to make it to outpost but it seems like that’s very risky and it never works. I would appreciate if any of you would share knowledge.

Just get some tools and farm up for a small base I normally go 1x2 with an airlock. And build it near a dirt road. Farm scrap and comps get a crossy and head to the nearest recycler

farm up 85 scrap buy full diving kit accept sunken wreckage npc mission at fishing village farm the ocean recycle all comps from run buy metal and jackhammer if you didn't get a free one during that run farm 3k stone trade it in for wood at outpost and you now have a full metal base with tier 2 guns

this can be done fully in 30-45 minutes to get the kit and the guns along with the base fully built

Farm the road go to bandit buy m92 pistol unload the m92 and research the pistol bullets. Then go buy nades and recycle them for gp run over to the t1 and craft pistol bullets. Boom you gotta gun and ammo go make a play. It takes abt 300-325 scrap
