#best way to get bps and fragments quick I'm new

The fastest way I can get scrap to research is by farming white and blue barrels on roads. On a good run I can make a max of like 280 scrap. Set up a base near a road and just farm that. I have heard there is a different way where you can farm barrels in the ocean too and apparently that's good for scrap.
Also - build a starter base near a quiet tier one monument and farm the monument. Harbour is a good one. Look at YouTube videos on how to farm specific monument and recycle components at monument to get scrap. Sewer branch is the best one but is often busy. Use your scrap to unlock blueprints quickly don’t leave it sitting in your base as if you get raided the scrap will be gone!
U mean use the tech tree to unlock bps?
Yeah but the only way of getting good bps is by killing players right?
fastest way to get bps and metal frags is by farming the ocean rafts & sunken wreckage both recycle everything at outpost and bp what you want/need and buy metal frags for the rest allowing you to get all basic bps and a full sheet metal/armored base within the span of a hour
not always that's just what groups prefer doing because they don't like working for anything
From where can u buy metal frags and for how much
at Outpost every 25 scrap is 250 metal 3,000 scrap is 30,000 metal frags farming the ocean you can get 4,000-7,000 scrap/hour without the use of teas
if you recycle everything
Yeah but won't getting 3k scrap take forever? And even if I do get someone can always steal and it all goes to waste
farming the ocean you can get up to a max of 7,000 scrap every hour farming the ocean while farming the roads you can get about a 1/3 of that a hour
every stack of sewing kit comps is equal to 100 scrap if recycled and traded in at bandit camp
Don't you need scuba gear to farm ocean?
you can get 3-12 sewing kits per crate underwater if you get the sewing kit drop which isn't guaranteed
for the sunken wreckage yes which costs 85 scrap diving tanks are refillable just like jackhammers
you can farm the rafts in between each wreckage as you go
Does farming the ocean mean hitting the barrels on a boat or just opening crates underwater
both if you only hit one or the other you won't profit as much as you can hit the rafts as your traveling to and from each wreckage
Yeah you do need scuba gear to visit wreckage?
yes as it's underwater you'd drown if you tried without
So how do I get that
you can either get lucky and get it all from crates or you can get them by purchasing them at any fishing village
it costs 85 scrap for a full set
I see
So you do actually recommend buying metal frags and not actually smelting?
this will be the last wipe where you'll have a easy experience doing sunken wreckage as they'll be adding sharks to sunken wreckages on main next monthly wipe
I generally do both
while it's smelting scrap farm to buy metal or if I'm smelting sulfur I'll scrap farm to buy smoke grenades at outpost to recycle for excess gp
Also what's the fastest way to get cloth like can I buy it? It takes forever to collect those plants
that way when I'm farming the ocean I'm getting all the materials needed to craft explosives in 1 go
if you don't have a large cloth farm with God seed hemp clones aka all green genes then sunken wreckage is the best for cloth as well
So it'll be very difficult to farm sunken wreckage next wipe? What do you think the best way will be after the wipe to get scrap?
every stack of sewing kits is 3-12 sewing kits a stack is 20
sunken wreckages vary by size some have 2-3 crates some 5-7 and some 7-9
And how do you find sunken ships? Is there a sign?
each small crate will have 5 scrap and 2-3 items each large crate will have 10 scrap and 3-5 items
all crate spawns on sunken wreckages are randomized
there's 3 ways to go about it
1 look for floating bottles in the water
2 just dunk your head underwater and look for ships or rock formations
3 look on the map for the darkest water area
the first 2 methods are generally the most common as the 3rds all up to chance and luck
I see
It's my 3rd day on game
And I'm now kinda starting to understand how things work
I was confused af on day 1
ik I was there in the discord when you said you was new
you had me budzie and about 5 other people talking to you
Ah that's so cool
Also when should I upgrade base rn? I just have a normal size stone base with metal sheet doors do you think that is enough?
not really as if you longer you take to upgrade the easier you are to be raided
so it's best to upgrade whenever possible
From what I understand so far the objective is to collect resources collect as many bps and dominate in pvp? Is that it?
so when you get enough materials to upgrade everything it's best to do so
correct although if your a solo like myself you'll struggle against zergs and clans as they rely on numbers over skill and knowledge
and zergs and clans make up about 75% of the playerbase on console
just a rough estimate
That's kinds unfair ngl
that's how zergs and clans are they like to use numbers of groups ranging from 8-85 deep worth of players 85 being the largest zerg I've ever seen on console rust which would intentionally doorcamp roofcamp and wait for solos to log off to offline raid them
irony is large groups like to say they'll online raid but only 1 in probably every 100 actually online and just resorts to offlining and griefing people's bases so the bases can't be recovered
rust is a great game with a toxic playerbase but in today's society that's all games
Why cant they just make offline raiding not a thing? Won't that be fair?
it's a part of the game been since pc rust in 2013
also let's say they make offlining impossible do you think you could online raid a 30+ man clan/zerg with 100+ autoturrets alone and win
it's all a matter of preparations that includes your base
even if you make your base expensive to raid it doesn't stop you from being offlined from large groups zergs and clans it just lowers the possibility
can a solo win against a clan/zerg yes but it won't be easy
Oh yeah that's a factor
reason the majority of the playerbase relies on numbers is because people would rather have a easy experience and target those in smaller groups or solos than people of relatively the same size instead they'd rather alliance with groups of equal size or standing
So solo players should mostly avoid clans?
I still fight zergs and clans as a solo but I tend to try to wait till my main base Is mostly finished as most zergs/clans have large egos that they can't lose a fight so they always roam in large numbers and nowadays groups are so loot hungry they'll trash talk you if you don't have or use the loot they want
which alot of groups call gear fear which over 90% of the playerbase doesn't know what gear fear is
they just say others have gear fear because their opponents don't bring the gear/weapons they want to get from winning
not that it's what the person wants to use
Yeah I was farming barrels and 3 guy with guns attacked me and just outnumbered me 30 mins ago
True Gear Fear Which groups and mostly the entire playerbase doesn't know or acknowledge is that if you want to bring a weapon out you like but don't out of fear that's gear fear but if you are bringing out what you want regardless even if that's not the highest tier weapon you have that's not gear fear but groups clans and zergs will call it gear fear when in reality it's not
Wait that's me
I keep weapons in lootboxes cuz I'm scared to lose em
for me in my case I just being out what I like not what others like
zergs clans and groups call anyone smaller than them as a gear fear player if they don't bring out what they want but true gear fear is not bringing out what you want
for me I bring what I want out when I want I also assess the loss vs gain estimates
for example if I'm just farming the ocean or roads I have no need bringing a gun but if I'm looking for pvp or a raid then I'll always bring a gun
that's the difference between gear fear and not which the majority of the playerbase can't differentiate the difference
What yeah I don't usually keep weapons on me when I go farming
I'll just have a bow on me lol
Do you recommend to keep extra tools in box so you don't have to farm basic tools again when you die?
the way I see it playing smart isn't gear fear but being afraid of doing what's best is
I tend to have a box for just tools a box for guns box for comps box for meds box for clothing etc
I like to have my stuff organized when I have the time
Btw can you recycle clothes?
yes but I wouldn't recommend it unless its like shorts or balacavas
What if I just buy clothes from outpost and recycle for cloth?
you can do that but best way to get cloth is by recycling comps or by having a seed farm growing hemp
buying cloth is the most inefficient method in the game
Oh but yeah tbh cloth is not that common from what I have noticed like you won't find large amounts of cloth
only time it's worth buying cloth is generally from players but the majority of players don't know what to price things sometimes they over price and sometimes over price
every 2 tarp is 100 cloth every 2 sewing kits recycled with the rope recycled that comes along with it is 80 cloth
1 stack of tarp is 1,000 cloth 1 stack of sewing kits is 800 cloth
And tarp can be found in crates on roads right?
tarp and and sewing kits can be found in barrels or crates
on the road and sunken wreckage and rafts on the ocean
I always sell my overstock items and farm in shops but I always give discounts but I never overprice zergs clans and large groups always tend to overprice as they think their the only ones that should have gear and most groups zergs and clans are afraid of a actual fight another reason why they roam in such large numbers
Do you just prefer solo or you just don't trust anyone?
zergs clans and groups tend to sell items for sulfur I always sell for scrap as I can use it to get gp metal tools etc and it's less inclined to get raided than a shop selling sulfur for example selling a item for 300 sulfur is equal to 150 gp but it costs you wood and charcoal to smelt
50 scrap is equal to 180 gp in recycled smoke grenades at outpost
I prefer solo and everytime I've gave anyone a chance I've been backstabbed
There Is some shop in my server they are selling custom smgs shotguns for 200-400 sulfur
Same
for guns that's generally not bad but at the same time most of the time groups zergs and clans will sell guns then roofcamp to kill their own customers so they keep their guns and get the sulfur free of charge
Why do clans just like selling items for sulfur like they don't like farming it?
Basically scam your customer?
zergs clans and groups generally sell for sulfur because they want to use to it offline raid bases and their own customers
but in reality you can get far more gunpowder selling for scrap than selling for sulfur while it's easier for solos small groups and overall easier for everyone to obtain
Interesting
groups zergs and clans do that all the time yes while I give discounts and sometimes give protection to being killed
Are you against scamming customers?
yes as it's best to have trust between your customers or they'll be more inclined to raid you rather than buy from you
for example zergs Like to sell 100 crude for 1k sulfur or 500 gp I'll sell 500 crude for 250 scrap equal to 1,500 lowgrade
if you was to buy 1,500 lowgrade at outpost it'd cost 300 lowgrade
so you'd be getting a small discount
when your selling items it's best to sell as the cheapest but not so cheap that you don't make a profit
because otherwise all it takes is someone to undercut you by selling for cheaper
only exception people will choose something more expensive is for protection and utilities they can use at your shop
Ahhhh
reason why when I build my normal shop designs they're always full of customers is because it gives a complimentary access to a free tier 1 2 &3 they can use to craft items refill items and bp items
for example when I have all bps ill occasionally sell scrap for farm
for example 50 scrap for every 1k metal ore
which is a discount as if you were to trade 1k cooked metal at bandit you'd get the same exact amount of scrap back only you'd have to cook it
giving players more inclined to buy from you
What do you need scrap for mainly when you have all blueprints?
Also alot of guys are saying tech trees are not worth it is that true?
if I got all bps already I only use it to buy excess metal while I got furnaces running or buying gp or jackhammers
I'm gonna try to farm scrap
And maybe pvp for BP
What do you suggest?
only 3 things after I got all bps
I recommend farming the ocean when your looking for scrap comps tools and hqm
but for pvp it's best to go to oilrig or cargo till you get some guns
once you get more than 1 gun you can roam pvp for more guns but there's a catch as most groups tend to roofcamp for their guns while sending nakeds out to loot as their afraid to lose anything
so even roaming with a gun can be a risk which is why you only bring a gun when doing a raid or looking for pvp/running oil/cargo
if your just scrap farming you can easily recover anything lost
guns aren't always the same as nowadays the playerbase tend to be to afraid to get off their roof to pvp
So you don't recommend just carrying a gun when farming just for protection?
either their a zerg roaming 8+ deep with more at their base roofcamping or they just roofcamp if your wanting pvp best places would be oil's and cargo for console
once underwater labs comes out it'll be another great location for loot and pvp
depends in all honesty if your using a jackhammer yes bring a gun
but if your just scrap farming there's no point
as it's not as a big of a loss sure you can bring guns whenever you want but you have to play things smarter if your playing solo
the bigger the group the more risk your able to take
which comes back to the topic of gear fear as solos will play smart while groups doing the same thing when In large numbers can be classified as a type of gear fear for groups but not for solos
I mean won't it be nice to just have something for protection after farming ocean?
I mean you could loose that on your way back?
it's all a matter of risk assessment and your numbers playing smart and playing risky are 2 sides of the same coin
it's why I always build near the water if possible as I can just swim to my front door
the base I'm currently building and running whenever I finish it fully is a underwater entrance with 46 vending machines and 12 large boxes of storage
Vending machines to trade items?
if raiders destroy and vending machines or the doorframe holding it up underwater auto despawns the loot to where the raiders can't get the loot which despawning loot personally in a online is a scummy tactic but having it auto despawn when being raided by anything other than door raiding makes offline raiders get minimal to no profit
and makes them regret their actions all in 1 go
not this time no
as vending machines are the only form of loot storage you can build underwater
just turn off broadcasting and no one will see it on the map
making it where they won't know about the vending machines unless their underwater against the base
which most raiders will think to go through the walls but by doing so they auto despawn the loot while the owners offline thus making them waste their boom for nothing
which is why my bases underwater lootrooms will cost 186 c4 to full loot underwater while above water it's 36 rockets to TC +15 additional rockets for above water lootrooms
as you can't use any form of boom except c4 underwater which requires tech trash to craft
186 c4s doesn't that make it almost impossible to raid you
That's very expensive
not really if they wanted they could just raid tc and let it all decay but the catch is I could get on and leave with all the loot while their waiting for it to decay
Btw how much upkeep do you recommend for tc?
ad the loots underwater and they'd have to either use c4 or eco raid with salvaged hammers underwater for every single door
each vending machine having 2 garage doors + 6 garage doors and 2 sheet metal doors for the underwater entrance
depends on the base
if you check message request that should give you a pointer
is there any other advice that your wanting at this time?
I've been doing this a lot, and works out really well. Build a boat base (youtube has plenty of variants), get a boat, go and break barrels and do some diving (adds so much more). Between that and recycling most of the non-scrap items you get, one full day run can get you an impreasive amount of scrap
