Boat Sound Crashes are caused by FMOD, part of the Sound Engine which is a 3rd Party used by Unity, it’s an extremely difficult thing to just fix which is why D11 have made multiple attempts so far and had little luck in overall fixing but have lessened a lot of issues.
It’s something encountered on Multiple Video Games as it’s a widely used thing, PC Rust is another example of having issues recently with Minicopters, Mount and Blade on the PS5 has had a severe FMOD Crash in Battles causing it to be basically unplayable if your character gets knocked down.
The reason you have to restart your game is because it affectively overloads the entire sound output which is how it also affects things like Party Chats.
