She got rid of all she can do except save Shedinja, her entire being focused on this one task, this endless task that needs doing again and again. But she only has so many uses of protect. She can't do this forever. And when she runs out she'll still switch in, she'll still save Shedinja. She has to, even if it hurts. She'll always sacrifice herself to buy more time for someone who doesn't want to be saved.

Dina was silent behind her, an ethereal husk clinging to life, but retreated into her pokeball all the same. Cely let out a sigh of relief knowing she was safe, then turned back to her opponent.
"C'mon Dina! Get back, you're running out of time!" Cely yelled, bursting into battle once more with her shield up. Dina swayed behind her in tune with the song only she had heard, and Cely liked to imagine she heard the ghost whisper thanks before she retreated.
"Don't worry Dina, it'll be alright!" Cely yelled, barely getting her protect up in time. She bit down on her berry, and felt new strength surge through her. "I'll always be here to save you, alright? But please, be more careful!" She looked back, desperate to make Dina hear her meaning and not just her words. The angelic husk nodded ever so slightly before retreating.
"Are you alright?" Cely asked as she burst into battle once more, shielding herself from a blast of flames like it was nothing. "You can talk to me, you know that Dina. I know that song you hear sounds hopeless, but I'm here for you."
"Dina please. Just talk to me. You keep going out and almost getting yourself killed, and for what? Why can't you just stop and take care of yourself?" Cely pleaded. Dina was elegant, powerful, she had nothing she needed to prove. She had worth beyond her usefulness, she wasn't like Cely.
"This is my last one. I love you Dina. I don't need you to feel the same for me, just love yourself. We'll both make it out of this, and then we can talk," Cely said, straining to sound hopeful. She felt Dina's arms around her in a hug before her beloved disappeared like smoke in the wind.
Cely did her best not to flinch as the shard of ice pierced her armor. She tried to retaliate with a javelin of her own, or a gout of flame, but couldn't remember how. It had been so long since she did anything but protect, her body had forgotten how to fight in any other way than sacrifice. But who needed weapons, or shields? She had her life to give, that would have to be enough. She heard Dina retreat safely behind her, and knew her purpose was fulfilled once more.
Cely screamed as she switched into the next attack, her armor melting under it. Still, she hung on. For Dina. "I'm fine, don't worry! Dina, please, you have something to live for. Don't throw yourself away like this, nothing is worth losing you. I- I'm not sure how much longer I can do this." Cely almost collapsed, but barely held herself up. She heard a ghost of an apology, then nothing.
"Aaaugh!" Cely wailed as she jumped in front of one last attack. She fell to the ground, and knew there was no getting back up. She did her best to roll over, to see Dina one last time. Maybe this time she'd finally stop trying to die? Her face went slack with horror when she saw Dina running over to her side, Cely felt barely-there hands wipe her tears away. "What are you doing? Get out of here Dina, you're- the song, the last gasp, you're- Please, don't die here, make my life mean something," She broke down coughing, and was wrapped in a fading embrace. Dina began to hum a somber lullaby, the baleful omen that always threatened to take her away. Cely had failed, she always did. But she'd never heard anything as lovely as Dina's song, she'd never been as content as when they both ebbed away in each other's arms.

Yeahhhh honestly I was feeling that on my first playthrough after 3 fights. The team barely changed each time and they're all pretty close to each other overall, definitely gets kinda stale.

Yeah. Sang has a problem where you fight him 3 times, and his team barely changes. Hell sang 1 and sang 3 are essentially the same fight, except you are 15 levels higher and can throw him around much easier.

its kind of fun how power&energy locks are like. the rare items that very technically “scale” in percentage effectiveness, but their direct effect is always the exact same in absolute terms
like (to use an entirely arbitrary example) how power lock percentage-wise is “better” on misdreavus than on mismagius - after all misdreavus gets an insane 200% boost to its attack, while mismagius ‘only’ gets a ~71% attack amp. it’s whimsical that you can do the silly deceptive statistics in that way

trying out perish body cursola as a wildcard mon bc it seems potentially really strong with caremonic bonuses (since it presumably wants to like, perish body smth, click maelstrom, click stitch up and something else, then switch out on the last turn to get free autokills)
currently running screens + stitch up + maelstrom, might try out disable and/or embrittle at some point - my gut instinct is that screens are a nice bit of value bc it’s also pivoting into smth else while getting a perish kill

i haven’t tried out ward press sensibelle so i can’t rlly provide an accurate comparison of builds, but i think this clear is a pretty good showcase of why i like heart rhythm - sensibelle can like, easily tank a burn and also some nonzero amount of damage per round, all while doing big chunks of damage without ever having to take turns off to click recover
or like, less frequently? i think i click recover a few times but like, heart rhythm healing puts in most of the work
