pokemon can be withdrawn from a donation box if you're switching them with an existing party member, allowing for getting candies equal to your highest xp gain mon at the cost of permanently storing any one mon

when you open the pc, it starts in a box mode with a white cursor

#

when you click on a mon in this mode, it gives you menu options

#

when you hit z or equivalent keybind, it shifts to a mode with a yellow cursor

#

in this mode if you click on a spot it just places your existing mon, if any, and picks up the mon in that spot, if any
