Hi, has anybody tried making the Landscape Material Blend nodes in UE5.5.1? When I connect blended normals, the landscape turns dark.. When I disconnect the normals, I see the textures (base color). Also, I the landscape paint sidebar, layers are not automatically populated from my texture nodes, it always says "There are currently no target layers assigned to this landscape. Use the buttons above to add new ones or populate them from the material(s) currently assigned to the landscape". I read UE5 documentation and watched the landscape painting video multiple times, the layers should be auto-populated in the paint sidebar but they are not for me. I'm thinking there may be corrupt grass normals I downloaded from quixel bridge???

I'm in the same situation.
I got it to work. There's an added step now. In Landscape -> Paint, go to Layers, and click this icon: Create Layers From Assigned Materials. Hope that helps.

you're a life saver! I worked in ue5 when it 1st released and nothing is working the way I remember since I have been taking a break from it for about 2 years lol
do you know if this has changed for unreal engine 5.6 now because i cannot find create layers from assigned materials
like i can find create layer, but then i cannot select anything, there's no options, and neither do i see from assigned material
did you use 5.6 or 5.5?
This fix does not work with 5.6 😦
Making the landscape with the material already set did work for me in 5.6, however I can’t make adjustments to the material itself, so you should first make the material the way you want with the amount you want before creating the landscape with the material assigned in the beginning
So I didn’t make layers from assigned material but made the landscape with the material from the start
I will try that
If it doesn’t work we could go into vc later, although I hope they change it or there is a method I’m unaware of because setting the material up exactly how you want it from the start is annoying cause I like to change my mind
And with this that would mean making the entire landscape from the beginning again
At this point I am fairly confident thatn 5.6 is broken. Just for fun tried to do it again in it. Created a 32x32 landscape and nothing has been generated. It is listed in the menu but cannot see it, cannot sculpt it, nothing.
it just keep creating some pylon like structures
that's a matter of the landscape not being loaded
there's a fix for it but i can't recall what, you can try box selecting them in the world partition and then right clicking to force load
Weirly switching to 5.5 resulted in same thing and jumping back to 5.6 fixed it
Did you get assigning material to the landscape to work? Someone just explained to me how to do it without doing it from the landscape’s creation
