Turn off Auto-Update from essential in-game
go to your .minecraft folder and delete the essential folder
Put the version from 3 weeks ago (1.3.5.4) into your mods folder from here: https://modrinth.com/mod/essential/versions?g=1.8.9
Play the game
(5. Once a fix is pushed, which shouldn't take that long, you turn on auto-update again)
