i watched the video and folloed up to the bit where it pulls up the minecraft client and clicked on the instalations, i tried it, it didnt work

Try going into an installation for minecraft 1.8.9 by clicking edit and changing the version to forge

i tried and i couldnt see a version acalled forge also i couldnt open up forge

well if you can't open forge then obviously there won't be an installation called forge

try opening command prompt and running these two commands:
