i actually have another idea which is pretty smart

when you click on an item in your hotbar, dont actually send the packet to the server saying to pick it up

but then when you click elsewhere, send the hotbar-move packet eg. if item is in slot 3, press 3 on keyboard while hovering over where u want to move it

that way, the server never thinks you are holding the item, making it impossible to drop it in the first place
