- i've never been secretive about the fact that we make money from including essential. i think i have a message from like 2 or 3 years ago going over why we use essential and why it's included (though tbf it is a bit outdated given it was written for 1.8.9)
- while there is an ad mod, we didn't think it was necessary to use it in the alpha version of a port where speed was ultimately the deciding factor at play. it seems that a very vocal minority has always been against essential because of the coin structure of payment. ofc i'm not a big fan of it either but it isn't my call to make.

Hey, Hassan from the Essential team here (I take care of partner management)! I just wanted to say a few things about the discussion you guys are having here!
Speaking on monetization, we aim to strike a balance between monetizing fairly to the players, but also being able to make money and be sustainable as a business, we want to be able to make money, as any business, after all. With coins, this also means we can give people free coins to spend how they please, which they can use on any item in the wardrobe. We're also able to give more value to people on higher value purchases, where they'd get more than if they would spend money directly on each, rather than checking out individual items. It's a monetization method, and it made sense for us, but in the end, we only monetize optional cosmetics - that we think are of very high quality - and we have a growing amount of free cosmetics for people to claim and keep. We think our approach, given all of the above, makes it tasteful monetization. And remember, it's entirely an optional thing that support us, and now support our mod partners! But opinions here are always welcome, it's not going unheard.
As for the crashes, bugs and performance issues, I completely get where you're coming from, and I understand that this is a frustrating thing to deal with. It's the case in many similar situations, the interaction of mods can cause problems, sometimes at scale (mod compatibility is complex, and sometimes, it's not the fault of one mod, but the interaction of mods). I think looking at change-logs isn't a great representation of how problematic or inconsistent our platform is, we take care of things that don't cause problems to many, and try to strive for as smooth of a process at all times, but whenever there's a big problem, we obviously address to fix that with utmost urgency. Making sure these things run perfectly and seamlessly is really hard, but we invest so much time and effort into that. If there's something seriously hindering you from playing, our support team would love to help. I know it's not a perfect solution, and ideally, there shouldn't be a problem, but I unfortunately can't do anything else about that, and our team is constantly fixing things, even if it affects a very small number of players.

You could also provide bulk discounts for multiple cosmetics purchased at the same time, that's also doable without coins.
And with a cursory glance at the cosmetic shop, I see a few things. The minimum I can spend on Essential Coins is $8 for 1000, while many emotes range from 300-700, meaning if I just wanted a singular cheap emote, I'd still need to give you $8. Or if I wanted a 500 coin and 300, I'd have 200 coins left with nothing being that cheap. Now let's say I want a 1200 coin dance, that's only 200 more than the $8 coin bundle gives you (oh wait, wouldn't this be a great use for my 200 extra coins from earlier — see how leaving extra coins can incentive more spending). But lets say I don't have those 200 extra coins. Now, if I want this thing which is valued somewhere around $8-10, I need to give you guys $20 and end up with more leftover coins. Not to mention that sale items leave you with ackward amounts of coins. This leftover coins issue means that you often can't get the full value of your purchase unless you make another one.
I fully appreciate how hard mod development is, and I don't fault mods for having crashes or compat issues. (My mods have had their fair share). My issue (and this is going more towards Skytils bundling essential rather than an issue with essential itself), is that any, even a small amount, of these crashes, bugs, or performance issues are unnecessarily introduced into Skytils by virtue of it bundling essential, when it could just bundle the libraries it needs and the advertisement mod. A crash caused by essential is fine if the user voluntarily installs it, but I think it's a big issue if the user did not chose to install essential, it was unnecessarily forced on them by another mod, and it causes issues with their gameplay.
