Hello!
Id like to edit a few lines of code for personal use, but I'm having a lot of difficulty compiling and such, probably because I'm not very literate in terms of java/kotlin coding and compiling.

I need to remove a few lines from the EntityLivingBaseHook.class.
I first downloaded the source code and removed the lines from the .kt file and tried to convert the whole .zip to a .jar, however java cant recognize it or something.
I then tried to get the source code and compile it, however that's when I get 21 errors. I think its because I'm only compiling the 1 file when it depends on others, but I'm unaware as to how I'm supposed to compile the whole thing and account for dependencies.
I then tried to decompile the .class file in the actual mod, however my decompile fails to decompile a bit of it.

I have considered compiling the entire mod with the editing .kt file, however I just have no clue how to do that.

All of this was using java tools, as from what I read kotlin files should be able to be edited like java files.
Id prefer if i could compile with java, as kotlin has been a real pain and not too easy to figure out what stuff to download to compile with it.

If anyone could help me figure out the issues and get it to work, id greatly appreciate it.
