If you were not already aware, yesterday Hypixel announced big changes to the Hypixel Public API. Hypixel has limited all player keys to 60 requests per minute (from 120), and plans to remove user keys altogether, replaced by developer application keys, which will require an approved application for rate limit increases.

In order to keep the API key hidden, this requires frontend applications such as mods to host their own backend in order to keep the API features that you all enjoy. Instead of caching requests themselves, Hypixel offloads the responsibility to the developers.

This is not easy to do. The proxy in Skytils uses my own API key which has a limit that must be shared with every Skytils user. In addition, this requires me to host a proxy that will need to handle a lot of traffic which previously would have been handled by Hypixel. If you are another developer who needs to use the Hypixel API, please host your own proxy and do not use ours.

This release prepares for the removal of user API keys by introducing our own self-hosted proxy for the Hypixel API. My proxy has a heavy delay setup for API requests, to avoid this delay, you may continue to use your own API key from /api until Hypixel removes the function.

If your API key stopped working, it's because Hypixel deleted it for some reason. Get a new one from /api new.

If Hypixel has not deleted your API key like they did to mine, I do not recommend running /api new as this will halve your rate limit to the Hypixel API.

If you don't use your own API key and you see a Key throttle message when using any API feature, please send a screenshot in the Discord so I can petition Hypixel for a rate limit increase.
