the current version of BTS (which works best with 1.2.83) is supposed to disable updates. if you manually installed it before the installer then you're not nearly as bad with computers as you think you are
check if spotify opens at windows startup (hit the three dots in the top left -> edit -> preferences -> scroll down to the pictured setting and check if it's on)

if it's on turn it off
and if it's not on, do me a favor and hit those three dots again, scroll down to help -> about spotify, and post a screeenshot of tht menu here
It took me 3 hours to figure it out, I'd say I'm pretty challenged lol
Does it matter if it's set to minimized?
If I'm being dumb and finally updating to the latest at the time solved the issue I am inquiring. You can disregard and call me dumb lol More of a hardware repair nerd at the end of the day.
no it's okay! minimized doesn't matter. the reason why it isn't set to open at startup is because it's technically an unauthorized script running on your machine, which windows blocks automatically to my knowledge
i believe the patch still works with 1.2.85 but it may deliver mixed results
Hasn't given me any issues besides smart shuffle resetting my queue yeeting all the smart shuffle recommends. (Though hadn't restarted my pc since either just cuz I didn't wanna redo the manual patch again.)
The work around I found tho is simply just retoggling it to reset the smart shuffled queue.
Thanks for helping me clarify a little bit!
