#Capture Printer Output from SAP

I built a small applet using VBA in Excel. I take a report from SAP and generate a list of Invoicing to email to customers. I can automate the process in SAP to generate the printout BUT when the Print Dialog Box pops up, I cannot control it. Basically I need to click OK and then enter a document number and route the printout to a folder where I "pick it up" and attach it to an auto-generated email. I can do all the steps but capturing the printer dialog box and then saving the file to the right location with the right name. Right now it is semi-automatic as I paste the invoice number into in the clipboard so all I have to do is locate the path on the first printout and then click Ctrl-V and then save. But it would be great to automate that step. I tried using Power Automate and also Auto HotKey but I can't figure it out. Any suggestions?

I can help with that! Quick question: is your SAP output going to a PDF printer or directly to a physical printer? This will determine the best way to automate saving the file to the correct folder.

There are other .PDF printers I could use but Co-Pilot suggested using that one.

Perfect! Since you’re using “Microsoft Print to PDF,” we can automate the save path and file name using a small VBA or PowerShell script to bypass the dialog

That is good to know. I will see if I can figure it out.

My IT Department has locked down things so much that I can't properly configure Microsoft Print to PDF to use a port that will allow me to direct the output. I submitted an IT ticket to see if they will do something for me, however.
