One of the most issues in TD is that if you do not have an account saved in Facebook, as soon as you change device and you do not transfer all the data from the previous one, you may end up losing your profile if you did not make a screenshot of your own profile ID. A bigger issue happens when you cannot access the game at all and developers would need to know your ID, which is inside the game that you cannot access.
A totally restricted TD (2-factor-restriction) would solve the issue as you can connect directly with an account suitable only for TopDrives. With the same device, as soon as you logged in, you can easily stay logged, and when changing device, this can be extended without creating fake Facebook accounts that at one point will be deleted by the system, just to save your TopDrives account

This will require at least another 2 or 3 full time hutch employees to deal with account issues as well as a server/infrastructure to manage the accounts and 2 factor authentication. Way too much work compared to giving people the option of logging in via apple/google/facebook

The system is however more efficient and perhaps the team doesn’t have to deal with game crashes on specific accounts after doing an update. It’s a quality life improvement and I know it’s a lot of work, but if done correctly it can ease up the rolling out of updates and can identify immediately any issues based on the account instead of a specific code present into the players’ ID. That’s my opinion of course, but at the end of the day it’s Hutch’s responsibility to decide whether this should be introduced to the game and whether the opportunity costs are worth it. From a player standpoint of view, this would be a huge improvement of data protection and a major way how to keep your own account
