Everything opened perfectly, no messages saying I don't meet requirements.
I am on PC. Tried installing to SSD and hard drive with the same result.
Every time I click the 'Play as Guest' button, it plays the music, takes me to a black screen with a loading dial in bottom right corner, and then a few seconds later brings me back to the main screen.
I tried having my friend with the game pass just invite me through steam to bypass the loading screen but that doesn't work either.
Also tried verifying game files to no avail.

Can you post one or two of your logs? You can find them here: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\MidnightMurderClub\logs\
Hello! I tried finding the logs but I get stuck at AppData. I can't find it after I click my username. I wen't to steam and clicked browse local files on the game to try and find information that way, but I am not sure if any of this information is what you may need
To be fair, I am not the most tech savvy person. If at all possible, I would be more than willing to hop in a call and share my screen with anyone that might be able to help : )
@silver moon
This happened to me too. Did you set up/ log in to a PS account? Once I did that, it fixed. Sometimes it takes a few times for the login screen to pop up, and it is in a different window.
i have not tried setting it up with a PS account. i’ll try that and report back : )
i’m not sure if i’m just stupid or what but i cannot link to my PS account because i can’t access the game at all. it’s stuck on the opening screen so i cannot get in to log in to my PS account. i tried other ways of setting it up with PS account but nothing works in that regard
also made sure everything was up to date including all drivers to no avail
Try entering %LOCALAPPDATA% into the explorer address bar and see if that helps
oh awesome that worked! I have access to the logs now. How would you like the logs sent?
does this work? this is the most recent log
Yep, perfect!
Okay, this is actually similar to another known issue, but we're looking for more logs!
- Machine GUID - This is stored in the Registry Editor -
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography - MachineGuid - Your settings.dat file -
C:\ProgramData\Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc\PSPC_SDK\S22\{SDK Version}\crashpad_cache\crashpad_cache\settings.dat - Your SDK Log file -
C:\Users\{User Name}\AppData\Local\Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc\PSPC_SDK\titles\{Your title Id}\logs\pspc_sdk_log.txt
for Machine GUID I was given a value data: 1cef8c14-99e1-4ec4-be01-183ca80f17fd
The settings.dat file isn't coming up for some reason. I have program file but not program data in my c drive
SDK log:
Thanks, passed along!
Thank you! Did I give you the right things you need? I'm still trying to get the settings.dat file for you.
Yes, if you can get settings.dat that'd be great, but the other two are correct!
Maybe search for crashpad_cache and see if anything comes up?
I found this but I have very little confidence that this is the right thing haha
also, not sure if this matters or changes anything but I noticed today that when I do click on 'Play as Guest', it forces my cursor into the middle of the screen and locks it there for the duration of the loading screen with the dial in bottom right until I get back to the main screen
Yeah, so it opened it up as a separate thing on my computer. Like, I had to minimize or close the game to access the login.
@silver moon hi! just checking in. any updates?
There’s a new SDK that we’ll be including in an upcoming patch that might fix this!
Okay, followup question from them. Because of some lines in the other log file, they feel confident that ProgramData exists, and they asked if you could check again.
C:\ProgramData\Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc\PSPC_SDK\S22\4.50.00.09
Also, trying to launch the game again and telling me the time that you launched it would be helpful too, to see if their error catcher gets anything on their end.
