I agree, it would be nice to have a pane of recently updated threads, or one thing you can do with Rocket Chat (a competing open source tool) is when you post to a thread choose select an option for it also post to the main chat, that was great for checking on updates but keeping the history of the thread

Well, using discord in the first place means that we don't care about treating this forum as a searchable repository of information.
If we cared about that, we'd use a platform that is accessible to crawlers.

Yea, that was my hesitation with us using Discord as well. OTOH, we tend to do a decent job of dragging things out of here.
