this problem was not there last week & I don't remember updating my path recently
ls -lh /usr/bin/ruby
yeah that's not a directory and therefore should not be in your PATH
ah I think the recent update messed it
might be worth it to open an issue on https://github.com/pypa/virtualenv for it to be resilient to bad entries on PATH but right now fortunately you can fix this yourself
I think my system is adding it automatically for some reason
look inside ~/.bashrc or ~/.bash_profile
