Currently, the camera tries to fit all characters on screen at all times. If a maker wants them to go off on their own separate journeys, things on the screen may end up really, really tiny and hard to see (see provided image). It's also not perfect, and characters may end up getting cut off the screen entirely.
I'd like to suggest a couple changes for characters being controlled by a single person:

Have the option for (or default it to) having the camera centered on one character.

When a character is not on the screen for any reason, have a small circle appear on the screen displaying their immediate surroundings while pointing to their location relative to the currently controlled character. This would also allow you to see what each character is doing while controlling them all simultaneously when the camera is centered on one of them.
