#Option to add NPCs to dungeons

Castle Town has a bunch of NPCs that currently only exist to add flavour, but I think it would be neat to place them in dungeons too. They could function like signs that can be "read" from any direction, and have the same triggers as signs wherein they can cause triggers by having the player talk to them, as well as appearing/disappearing according to other triggers.

Since this would be reusing pre-existing assets, I can't imagine it would be too cumbersome to add as a feature. The only issue I can think of is that some NPCs like Lucky seem to only have a single forward-facing sprite, so they wouldn't be able to change direction when talked to. I think this would be fine though, since this should ideally be a lightweight feature that wouldn't take up much development time.

Additionally, this could give extra functionality to pets! Once you hatch an egg, you could unlock that pet as an NPC course part. It'd be a cool additional incentive for the player to want to hatch 'em all.

Additionally, the devs don't want overworld NPCs (Especially kids) into the dungeons, but I only heard for a bit we might be getting something else lol.

Yeah i can see why kids would be banned from it but I think the pet npcs at least would be okay

im not a big fan of using the other NPCs as they are meant to be actually canon NPCs

it wouldnt make sense for them to exist inside dungeons too, especially multiple times

You could make Pets NPC be unique each one, like the tattle totem.

Started with an introduction, then instant translation (What you wrote) next.

But... Hmmm, well I dunno if it would be annoying or not anyway lol.

Or another clever way is to ask your Sound Team to make each Pets NPC Intro Voices instead of a intro dialogue.

Enemy npcs would likely be trickier since you wouldnt be able to tell at a glance who's a threat or not

Adding npc for dungeons could really enrich the experience 🙂
Recently I was thinking I could create a behourd (medieval sport) ring for two or three players. And having npc spectators could be cool 🙂

There would be so many possibilities with npc for dungeons ^^

the issue there is you could set up a talk trigger which can result in needing to talk to a pet that walked somewhere unsafe like over a pit and make things a little rng
