Hey all! This is my submission for the map maker contest! For those who weren't looking, the general idea was we needed to create a dungeon centered around Zorbius/Zorbs, with a hidden Minic somewhere within the level. I created a dungeon that's all about exploring tons of different rooms hunting down Zorbs. For each Zorb you defeat, you get their soul (sword coin), which you can trade in at the crypt shop in the lower-center of the dungeon for helpful loot/win key.

If you were to beeline straight towards the 40 coin win key, the dungeon will take 10-15 minutes, but if you went for the secret Minic, expect a longer dungeon adventure. If you were to collect ALL 150 coins (only 111 needed to collect every shop item), I think the dungeon would take close to a half hour to an hour.

My main tips are as follows: Your map is your friend- I have put hints and laid out secrets for those who use their maps frequently. Also, be sure to stock up at the randomly positioned heart stations, as they will be your only source of healing. Finally, there is a special "vault" in the upper left of the map, which requires some proper planning to utilize its contents. Keys can be found throughout the dungeon (and can be purchased), and they will always help you to uncover more Zorbs to hunt!

(Finally, the dungeon theme that I arranged is the classic LoZ NES dungeon theme, and the shop is a shortened version of Ocarina of Time's shop theme!)

while the dungeon music is a nice touch, I found myself having to leave sooner than I wanted to because of how much stuttering it caused even with my FPS capped 😦 if there was a version I could play with separate rooms I think I'd be able to get through a lot more. but I liked what I played of it! solid design overall and it did feel very classic so I understand why you wanted the music to go along with it. I liked the shop too, getting to choose how and with what tools I wanted to tackle the dungeon. I'd love to see more levels in this format

ok finished it. agree the music was fantastic. i didn't personally have any stuttering. the dungeon is huuuuuuge and so many different ways to go.

i think i maybe got soft locked in the big central room with the 4 locked doors and moving platforms. my guess is one of the zorbs chose a TP spot over the wall into another room and i couldnt get him to come back, because i later cleared it just fine.

i think 40 coins is enough to make it manageable in 15 mins for the contest, but i think in other circumstances, the could have the coin count be higher

i think the map being 1 coin made it easier than it needed to be. i wasn't really solving any puzzles or trying to figure out how to get somewhere new, i just looked at map for doors and went through

those little nitpicks aside, this was really cool and you have a great talent for making the songs 🙂

I knew the zorbs could go all over but because of that they're not supposed to get trapped outside of the view of the player

Once they're in sight of the player, they stay around them

i think if one teleported to the next room over while i was on a moving platform, i may not have been close enough for him to see me to TP back, idk

it happened early on for me though, i went in that room like 2nd or 3rd

so i didn't lose much. would have hurt if i had all 40 and didn't get to the checkpoint lol

oof... I wonder if this is the softlock Learuis mentioned. I came through from the right side door, and had to try it several times because I kept missing the moving platform and falling into the pit. if there was a safety tile there the Zorb may not have had enough time to go through the wall from its first teleport

on the upside, it does run a lot smoother!

(and I liked getting to hear the desert boss music for longer than usual 🤭)
