May we please have a See Lower Layer Toggle in the Theme Menu?

I would imagine it would have to affect the whole dungeon.

unborn prism

id like it to be singluar

#

for each room

olive geyser
#

Sure but I don't know if that is a feasible workload task.

I think the dev has tried this kind of feature out some time ago and came to the conclusion that it wasn't helpful, beacuse it was kind of a visual mess.

elder ravine
#

Yep it looked very messy and wasn’t helpful at all

elder ravine
#

i suggest using the keyboard shortcuts to just quickly hop back and forth

#

R and F by default

id like a feature like this too :D

dont know could be pink and at 50% opacity or something so that you know its a lower floor

elder ravine
#

yea i mean i tried all sorts of things

#

it was just very unhelpful

lucid mirage
#

yeah guess i would like only toggle it on for a minute to make connects to the upper / lower floor

but yeah i can see that it isnt helpfull for like building in the long run

id still love it though :D

#

its like a feature that you toggle on when you need it

you may not need it all the time but when you need it then its nice to have

elder ravine
#

yea it was toggleable

#

but it looked very bad

#

it was just a visual mess

#

i couldnt get it to look right

#

tried all sorts of things

lucid mirage

hmmm bummer

# elder ravine but it looked very bad

I don't understand how it could look different than the normal floor gap. I imagine that doing the lower floor parallax would have been harder. But I don't know what your environment looks like. Since you are using unity I wonder if you are using a number of instantiated 2d grids, stacked on top of each other. I could see that making the current parallax look the way it does.

I, and a lot of others, don't like the way the parallax looks, especially in rooms that don't drop down. Instead of going through all the work of trying to add an extra layer to the sandwich, let's find a work around. Instead of a See Lower Layer Toggle, a new tile could be added. It would be a pit tile that doesn't show lower layers and doesn't transfer the player. It's effectively an bottomless pit.

There is a lot of people that want some kind of feature to let them draw pits without seeing the parallax. There is definitely space in the pallet table for another tile. It can have the theme background instead of the black background of the regular pit.

Thank you for your consideration.

so like, a setting to make the current floor transparency to 50-80% ish?

lucid mirage
#

what are we talking here ?

i thought we talking about a feature in maker mode where you can see lower or upper parts of the dungeon

so that you can plan multiple floor dungeon placement somewhat better

new tile sounds more like a gameplay feature

hey what abt if there's a hole u can have a setting to disable the parallax on the lower floor and show exactly what is under the hole

elder ravine
cunning hamlet
#

i see

elder ravine
#

Which will not be implemented

cunning hamlet
#

is it too difficult to make it only work in the editor

elder ravine
#

What exactly?

cunning hamlet
#

i was thinking it would be a toggle option for editor only

#

not for gameplay

elder ravine
#

It looks bad

cunning hamlet
#

i see

elder ravine
#

And you still only see tiles

#

Not entities

lucid mirage
elder ravine
#

Yea I thought so too lol

cunning hamlet
untold prism
#

yeah, i thought they meant a way to see the floor below in editor mode which tbh wouldnt be bad as it would let you line things up better

elder ravine
#

I tried it

cunning hamlet
#

r and f keys work fine anyway

untold prism
#

Rise and Fall keys

water

#

use water

#

oh it's a sky tower lol

#

that would probably break immersion

tropic tusk
#

Yeah 😅

#

I also noticed that you need to have the tiles of lower floor set to holes in order for the sky background to come through
