its definitely a design issue, both intuitively and also gameplay wise
but i think i can pull it off
And would we have the option to either have diagonal or the way we have it now?
That's what I was saying, about it being a strain on the Maker, as I imagine a diagonal wall could create a lot of pathing and collision issues.
the problem is moreso that other tiles, like lava and other floor tiles, really didnt look good in combination with the diagonal walls, because the walls were diagonal but the other tiles were blocky still
so yea hah
i'd have to kinda affect all tiles in the area or smthing
And can the lava/water/poison not be made to recognize a diagonal wall and adjust to a "diagonal lava/water/poison" tile to match?
(I don't know too much about how the intricacies of Unity work, so I'm just curious)
it technically can yep, but thats quite a technical challenge and would require significant internal rework, twhich is why i chose to pause this for now
it also creates many more tile sprite variants thomas has to create haha

I know this isn't a reasonable solution or anything, but the way I always solved the "diagonal wall + square tile" problem was just to layer the wall, with its "floor" part being transparent, on top of the square.
Deep down, I know this is impossible, but it was the most reasonable solution with as little effort, short of making a new triangular version of a particular object. Bleh.
yes, this was my idea at the time too
but since it requires a significant internal rework, i didnt pursue it yet
i definitely want diagonal walls someday, cause i love the aesthethic of them

Oh nice, if we got diagonal walls that could also be nice for letting certain projectiles do bank shots.
