Hole Patching Function in Apple Realm

I'm still new so plsssss excuse me if I missed anything, but having to patch up 5 block deep water holes scattered around wherever I want to set up my base (especially coastal areas) gets tedious and boring quickly. I noticed you can break one leaf on a tree after mining all its wood, and every leaf block touching that one breaks instantly, so it could be something like that?

Cant you just pick an area of land that doesnt have the 5 block deep water holes?

I think those water holes exist because its a replica of earth
