I’ve just woken up at four in the morning this Tuesday. The neighborhood is gray and flooded because of the heavy rain. I can’t fall back asleep, nor can I go to work. All I can see are trash cans, bags, and plastic being dragged away by the rainwater. I try to turn on the television, but I only hear static. I try to turn on the computer, but the internet is down. I try to read something, but then I remember my glasses are broken…

I walk around the house for a bit until I notice a dusty photo album and decide to check what it is. Countless photos of me as a child, from a long time ago. I’m struck by the absurd number of pictures of me with the same smile. A careless smile. A light smile. A… you know what, screw it, I don’t want to think about this anymore. I throw the album to the corner of the counter and keep walking.

I try to sit on the couch, but it sinks immediately. I look at the walls and realize how stained they are. Rainwater leaking through the ceiling makes me want to go back to my bedroom. So many memories… I remember spending my entire childhood there. I spent hours playing games or just playing around. Today, it’s just a place where I sleep and wake up to go to work.

What happened? How did I allow myself to get here?

I get up and return to the living room to get the photo album. I pick it up and start flipping through it again. It’s incredible to think that even these black-and-white photos have more color than my current life. Part of me wants to give in to the rainwater and let destiny carry me away. I hate this storm, these endless lightning strikes, this water that takes everything with it…

I feel lost in the fog, in the gray, in the in-between. The water that once soothed me now torments me. The sounds that once brought me comfort and a sense of belonging are now just signs of an open wound. The sadness of all the roses left behind throughout life. And the anguish of knowing that some of them will never bloom again. The walls crush me, consume me. The furniture chases me, and time distorts.

She couldn't sleep, she looked around to see if there was someone still awake.....but instead there was only darkness and silence, she hesitated a bit but she couldn't stay longer.....
Fiona knows that walking in an ink-black forest could be risky, but a desperate young woman who doesn't see hope in sight barely feels fear.
While walking she started to remember his words "No one could help you now, trying to escape would double your punishment, I didn't want a daughter in the first place, I know I have advantages that you're doing the house chores, but I can kick you out anytime"
She was walking with her head down seeing nothing except her paces, but her view increasingly changed as she started to see the shine of the dewy trees.
When Fiona raised her head, she was surprised by a child carrying a small lantern in one hand and a piece of bread in the other.
"You don't need this coat" the small boy said with a confident tone.
"And why shall I take it off" Fiona answered while putting her hands on her waist and leaning her head towards the small boy.
"Our house is warm even on this cold night, that's why my Mama was always saying that we are lucky to live in an underground house"
"And you expect me to accept your offer to visit your house" Fiona said while pointing with her index finger towards the boy.
