Ok, thanks a lot

Come on man
You studied to have a british accent
And you actually got it
@waxen topaz
Hello
I have british accent only because I was recording
british then
Hi guys
I am new to this channel.
Can anyone tell how to bump into a voice channel
Hello guys I'm new on the channel. I want to know how i can improve my accent in English because I'm like, maybe a little bit fluent in English but I still have my "French" accent and that's so harsh to remove it
I believe the most effective method is to consume content while trying to 'receive' the pronunciation you hear. Try to repeat words in a way that sounds just like the native speaker you're listening to pronounces it
Better listen to speakers with your target accent, otherwise your accent might be mixed
Ok I understand now I will try this method ^^
movies with subtitles + just talking
Overall, it's fairly easy to understand you but you need to work on your rhythm. I understand that you are reading, so naturally there are lots of pauses, but having a long pause at the wrong time makes it difficult for the listener to follow. You are talking about (William Somerset) Maugham. I had to double check the pronunciation of his name. It's one syllable, like mom or mawm. If you want more feedback let me know. I'm Canadian. Your pronunciation is more British.
great rhythm on the first recording. At the beginning, your pronunciation of "north" is very clear but later on when you say it the th needs to be stronger. It's easy to understand you. Maybe some words (the content words) need a little more stress.
I would say your pronunciation is more British. You need to work on your "th" sound. If you don't, you will sound Irish. And that's ok, if that's what you want.
thank you
Hello everyone!

Hello, everyone.
Hope everything is great.
Is there anybody able to help me to improve my English accent?
Thank you.
The pinned message above has some ideas for a voice recording. If you record your voice on this page, someone, maybe I, will comment on it. You should add a line about what kind of feedback you want.

@main mural hi friend
Hello, I'm Mohamed Hamraoui.wav
Hi friend I'm Abraham Addison
Hello I'm new here
this is a very good accent. it's still possible to tell you're not native, but it's easy to understand everything you said
wassup guys
Thank you too much man, how can I improve it
the individual sounds are pretty good, the largest point your accent is lacking is intonation. you're sometimes stressing the wrong words/syllables, but this is easy to correct if you listen to a bunch of comprehensible input and mimic the accent. imo you've already done most of the hard word (your R is pretty good)
Thank you so much friend 🌹
Where are you from?
hi
idk but i feel like doing some tongue twisters
weird awkward pause right in the middle 😬
i agree with Etellex above. Very good. Easy to understand 👍
Thank you mike, where are you from my friend?
PH currently in US east
Nice to meet you michael 🌹
hi, I am new to the server, and been trying to improve my accent for 6 months (american). So can you guys please tell me what should i improve upon. Thanks. (the text i am reading is "comma got a cure")
@river lance Overall, well done. I think I understood over 90% of what you meant, but there are some specific words you need to work on. I think you speak very quickly in your native language, so you want to read faster but are trying to slow down. Your rhythm is pretty good. You are emphasizing most of the content words well, keep that up. If you slow down, just a little bit more, that should help. Your English level is probably really high, but these pronunciation problems that you face might be frustrating for you, because you want to zoom through conversations. If you zoom through conversations, your audience will be frustrated with you. Here are some of the words you NEED to practise: deserted, territory, fleece (the c sounds like a s not z), a goose (it sounded like you said accused), dog or a (sounded like dark); itchy goose (sounded like issue); trap (sounded like crap); ether (unvoiced th, you made voiced th, so it almost sounded like either), vet's (you said wets).
judge my accent?

american english
also guess where im from
@kindred niche
First of all, you have an incredible narration voice WTF!! Second are you sure you're not a native English speaker from the US? That was incredibly good! There were some times where I did have a hard time understanding what you were saying, especially at the beginning, you were describing something too quick for me to understand. There's some times when I feel like you don't pronounce the end of the words or you pronounce it very slowly. Like the "five" word at the end. You need to pronounce the words all the way through. I really can't place where you might be from originally. Denmark?
8.7/10. Would definitely listen to you narrate a book 🙌🏻
than you so much, yup that's correct i speak fast in my native language, yup that's right i am a fast talker and a fast reader so i am trying slow my speech a little bit down. secondly where i come from we don't actually have english r's so those are the hardest for me pronounce in words like mirror and territory or wherever there is a cluster of r's, it's just is the hardest thing for me to do. Thirdly, we don't have th sounds in my language so it's bit of a challenge to do that as well. that's why vets sounded like wets but that is something i am trying to improve upon. and again thank you so much.
same as what leia said, this sounds indistinguishable from a native speaker. maybe midwest
@kindred niche@soft owl Thanks! Appreciate it. I was born in Sweden, still live here. Never been to the US and I've never actively worked on my accent, kinda just had it since I was a kid
I watched a lot of american TV when i was a kid so i guess i had some early exposure
never thought that of my voice, though, haha. Also I think your criticism is spot on @kindred niche , I do slow down my speech a lil bit when im reading. i think it sounds more fluent and natural when it's off the cuff
Not necessarily, you need to find a balance, a good pace for your speech and a way to pronounce your words without cutting off
I think you might be like me. Even though I'm not a singer, I have a "musical" ear for picking up sounds and accents
You should definitely look into narration if you haven't before ;)
@unique patrol
Hey
Um I still can’t figure out how to post something here
Meaning an audio file
I guess this is the way. Wannabe American English 😂
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
Honestly not happy with this take but it is what it is 😊
You have a pretty good accent :)
very very good accent. the only words that were maybe even a little bit off of native level were 'days', 'crazy', and 'cozy'
slightly more nasally than average, but perfectly within the range of american speakers. sorry for the nitpicking, its just that you're very close to indistinguishable from native so I imagine you're looking to get all the way there
Thanks 🙏 yeah that’s true I’m trying to get to American level. Actually I’m trying to find Americans to speak with, nothing against foreigners of course but it’s just my goal.
I tried to read something too. I slip up a little 😂
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
@steep kayakYou sound 100% swedish
I'd almost be willing to bet money your mother tongue is swedish
at least in the second clip
you sound better than most swedes for sure, but i can still hear the swedish in your accent
it's the vowel placement
the resonance in your voice
very hard to get rid of but it's possible i think
but you need to understand what's making you sound swedish
in order to erase that from your speech
I think it’s possible since I have a good base according to me
I’m not sure if it’s possible for everyone but for me yeah
yeah but what are you shooting for? what's your goal
Idk 🤷♂️
Well honestly I want to sound like a native as close as possible. Being like 90% there would be fine. I’m probably like 70-80 there now.
Right now I’m listing to New York news and podcasts
Some days are better than others too when it comes to my accent
But I still make mistakes for sure
Well idk really
I got the benefit of knowing more than just Swedish so I think it sort of has helped me in the beginning
Doing sounds etc that swedes sometimes has a problem with.
yeah, probably but like I said the last 10% are really hard
But really this is all just speculation
However I’m trying to find Americans to speak with too. Nothing against foreigners at all
it makes sense though, there are thousands of accents and they all emerge out of the tiny oral cavity that is your mouth
the difference between two vowel sounds is literally just millimeters
Also lately it seems like my throat sort of is doing a workout almost. I know it’s sounds weird but like it’s getting trained for those sounds
yeah do that, im swedish
your throat should be relaxed when doing an american accent i think
That’s not what I’m saying
It is relaxed when I speak
But it sort of feels like muscles are being worked out too
Idk if that makes sense
yeah maybe, but the brunt of the work should be done by the tongue
different vowel sounds are literally just different frequencies
manipulated within the mouth
mostly by the tongue
I have already eliminated some small mistakes so I’m making progress
yeah that's good keep going
Mostly melody stuff. Intonation if you will 😂
yeah that's pretty hard too but it's not the biggest issue
the biggest issue is actually the vowel sounds
you can try it out yourself
if you listen to an american rattlin goff a bunch of words
there's almost no melody or intonation at all
but the words consist of vowel sounds native to that specific accent
it's very hard to imitate even single words
an american would be able to tell if you're american even off of just an isolated word
not you specifically
but in general
It’s interesting 😊
In general I think most Swedes can get to a native level. Especially today when I believe most schools actually hire Americans as English teachers. I was in school way before that was norm 😂. I think our math teacher or something was also our English teacher
same, i was born in 94
most teachers sucked and had several differnet classes
but i never actively tried to learn english
i just always had an american accent
Yeah me too
but i have to say i've never heard a swedish person with a 100% native-like american accent
I have
i haven't, i'm very close myself but i've never heard it
i can sniff out accents in a second
just from one vowel
I have heard like 3 people with American accents
show me
oh, he's pretty close
not perfect, voice too nasal
but i know allyawan
used to be the only swedish rapper i listened to
Grind Time veteran Jonny Storm (@JonnyStormOS) flyes over to Sweden to face off against heavy weight rapper Allyawan in Stockholm @ Basementality Battles. Do not forget to Vote and comment on the battle. Thanks. Special cohost and ledgendary Swedish rapper Dogge Doggelito makes an apparence as well.
Around 4 😂
Minute mark
yeah he's very close, i can't really tell he's swedish but i've never heard an american with that voice or vowel frequency
i feel like he's kinda exaggerating his accent
to sound like a gangbanger
I have 2 heard other people. One that sounded amazingly American. A girl
But this is in person
😂
Well he’s a rapper too so doesn’t really help his cause I guess
Then I have heard other Swedes in America with an American accent but that doesn’t count
Sounds good
Not everyone speaks like that though. Seems people overseas think that 😂
what do you mean?
Not all Americans have what I would count as the news accent
Obviously it’s not but still
it kinda defaults to that when you're reading out loud
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
sounds a lil less stilted
@agile sequoia100% natural
it was always my accent, since i was a kid
i grew up on the hollywood accent so it might be a little "news-cast"-y but yeah
yeah but not actively
just watched a lot of tv with my family
since i was like 4
yeah, i think that sounds better too
i'd like to learn some uk accent
but there are so many
very easy to slip into a different accent
I think the best thing you can do is play around with different vowel sounds
record yourself
try forcing some sounds
and then see which sounds more american to your ears
https://forvo.com/user/NipponJapan/
like, listen to this guy and really try to nail the exact vowel sounds he's making
record it and you will easily spot the difference
Cool 😎
I already started practicing but I started like 3 days ago
So obviously you don’t hear the results
And I think you can nail a UK accent 😊
I don’t believe in people who says stuff is impossible etc
I think it’s possible but it takes work and maybe more smart practice
Hi members
If any us speakers are up for practicing with me let me know. You can dm 😊. Nothing against foreigners but I’m just trying to perfect my American accent or at least get 90% there.

Reading has gotten a lot better too
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
reading is very important too
in the last bit you pronouce the US State Maryland as Marie - land but I would recomend pronouncing it as Mara-lind
overall that was good reading
My reading is actually not that good in English
Somehow my accent at least I feel like is a lot better when I just speak
the grammar is a little confusing
Probably yeah
A little better
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
you are pronouncing pretty much every individual word correctly (mayyybe the word 'emergencies' is slightly off if im being nitpicky, you kind of failed to pronounce the third e "emergencies". also the t in "political" sounds like a "d" in an american accent)
what's more important at your level is focusing on cadence and intonation throughout a whole sentence
but yeah this is very impressive as is, goes without saying
Thanks 😊🙏 well there is definitely some people that are better than me but not by a large margin 😊.
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
It's in indian accent
Yss it is
Yeah
Is there anything wrong with my pronunciation and how much would you rate me
I mean is this voice okay for speaking in a mic in an assembly
Pronounciation is clear and easily Understandable.
Thx
How much rating would you give me
7/10.
I think, you Should talk with peoples in vc's
Mm ok
I don't understand what you mean can you be a little clear
What im saying is, you can imrove your Pronounciation by talkin in voice chat with other peoples, who're also learning or trying to improve.
Mm ok thx bye
I struggled to understand what you were saying.
Could you provide a transcript please?
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
Feel that I have already improved a little 😊
Your accent is honestly amazing, it's better than mine for sure haha, just the when you say a word with ion lik for example ion you can definitely hear an accent but for the rest it sounds perfect.
-_- you sound like a native lmao, are you?
You are way too kind
I’m not, but I am trying to perfect it kind of 😊
No, I'm actually being serious
It's honestly as perfect as it can get, I can't tell what accent you have or if you're a native or not
It's amazing, I'm not lying
You definitely will, try practicing words with ion, like opinion, action etc
try pronouncing them seperately and then in a sentence, I'm sure you'll get it in no time since everything else is good
You can definitely hear sort of a Bulgarian/russian typa accent for other words though but you pronounce words very good, just for the opinion less.
👌
@jagged salmonNo what you can hear is swedish
which i pointed out a few days ago
but it's better than the last recording i must say
I think for me that I can get rid of my Swedish 😊
Thanks I’m glad. Yeah I think I can get rid of my Swedish but I don’t think I will like speak the newsy us accent you have.
idk if my accent is so newsy, just kinda neutral
Idk 🤷♂️
I have started to listen ny podcasts
And some people sound like you, like the announcers etc
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
recorded this one just now
not sure I sound like a newscaster lol
maybe
i think it's just when i read out loud, when i speak off the cuff i don't really sound like that
not sure what accent i have, maybe midwest
That’s amazing really 😊
Didn’t listen to whole thing
Since I’m half busy
But seriously you sound amazing
Someone said I sound like I’m from
thanks man, i think you could get there too
your latest recording sounded a lot betterr
I think it was Georgia
Someone told me I sound like I could be from there but I don’t remember. Well not like a native, just the way I talk
I have been practicing a lot lately and it’s weird but everything just flows a lot better. Like my tongue and mouth has gotten stronger motor skills for the American language
for me as a non-native if I didn't know where you were from I wouldn't know wether or not you are a native
It's amazing to be honest 👌
https://voca.ro/1o5LtwO9g1OI can someone please judge my accent
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
@jagged salmonthanks man
@torn lightYour pronunciation of the word exercise is kinda weird at around 00:20, your accent starts breaking down around here as well. For example, you say pulling/pooling instead of polling. Other than that you sound like a native speaker. Are you from canada?
or maybe an asian american?
yeah the only reason i said canada is cuz i found it kinda weird wanting your accent rated since you're already an american english speaker
i mean you sound like an american
maybe it was the excerpt
is my accent good for US
aren't you american?
are you american, though?
ye bro
you can still have some weird speech patterns
even for an american english speaker
i have a swedish friend who rolls his Rs which is kinda weird and not like how we usually speak
but we grew up in the same town
yk what i can do theres like a pronounciation for different englishes
thanks for your say
why is your written english so weird=

I have a question. Here is the dictionary of "an" https://dictionary.cambridge.org/zht/詞典/英語/an?q=An
Why the British pronunciation and the American pronunciation is different, even though the IPA sound is the same?
The British one sounds like (æn). The American one sounds like (en).
i dont think there is an actual answer besides the fact that they are just different countries and their accents will be different even though the language might be the same
Just different ways to pronounce the same vowel

@shy gate just click on a link, for instance this one: https://voca.ro/1i4mevDhcZBX.
Then you´ll probably hear my voice at first, just ignore it. To record your own audio you click above the Audio, there is something written like "recording" or something like that.
This is how it looks
You gotta press that button on the right and you can start to record
After recording you can copy the link of your audio and share it with anyone you like
The good: Your voice is clear and you sounded very natural. I could hear some emotion in the way you spoke . Things to improve on: A couple words were muffled ( realm, dreamt , world, spirit, breathe) Keep up the good work. @dusk haven 🙂
Thank you so much for the feedback ≧ω≦

Hi
hiii
Hi
https://voca.ro/15cONCDxkPUy
I should get your ideas about some wrong pronounciation of some words. I wonder if you can write words that I said wrong.
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
My advice would be reading more slowly. Make sure you pronounce the words clearly. Once you feel more comfortable with that, try to speed up.
Your accent sounds great! However, it sounded like you weren't opening your mouth much, and words could be more articulated. Focus on marking the vowels more strongly and also pay attention to how each vowel blends to each consonant: "clouds, guards, erased, suffering, spirit, breath". Try to read the words slowly and focus on how much you're opening your mouth for each sound.
Thankss

Very nice 👍
Here are some words to work on:
- pilots = L sound
- charge = you're mixing G with CH sound
- airliner = RL blend - mark the R sound before moving to the L sound
- begin = stress beGIN - it sound like you said "begging"
- passenger = stress PAssenger - you said paSSENger
Overall, your reading is pretty good. There were 2 moments which were a bit harder to understand, but no big deal.

"Oh no! The raft!"
"Where's Kairi? I thought she was with you!"

Halo
Hello
Hello
thank you
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
Aiming for a west-coast/Californian accent. I'd be glad if you could judge me and give me a score from 0 to 100, where 100 is indistinguishable from a native speaker.
I would say about 60%
Why and what should I improve on
What's wrong about it
hmm google says that the "quent" part shouldn't be stressed as much
is that right?
Vowels, knowing when to stress, some letters in middle position aren’t properly pronounced.
However I did analyse your recording again, I went hard on you.
I feel like it’s a 70%
Where are you from btw?
🇨🇦 CANADA🇨🇦
It’s quite late
I'm German lol.
Ahh
I guessed because of how you pronounced some vowels
It’s all good
Which vowels specifically?

A
But.... that's how my Californian friends said I should pronouncei t
Like, I used to say 'ay'

After which, Americans from both coasts gathered to tell me to repent.
Ay is correct
However I heard something more like ah
This is different for everyone
English has dialects where vowels are pronounced differently
Like, Americans only say 'ay' to stress a particular word
When I was young, I originally learned English from a Canadian. That is probably the reason why I used to pronounce a like ay.
My dialect for example, is very similar to Californian English but except I have Canadian raising, little French, a little New York influence and little Scottish influence
And only recently me and my friends figured out that saying 'ay' was inconsistent with an American accent.
Or at least they didn't notice it as much.
Ay would work in Canada
Well most of Canadian English dialects
Americans pronounce it differently
It’s more whiney
Yeah, but I really want to focus on a specific dialect. Ideally I'd like to develop my own dialect at some point but I want to know one dialect perfectly before that.
wanna continue in dm's such as not to clog the chat hehe
Sure

Hello
Hi, are you from England?
I am
Thats cool! Which part of England are you from?
I used to study there
Nice! what field were you in ? I'm from Lancashire
Lovely city! I was doing GCSE back in 2012. That was ages ago🙈
I have always wanted to learn the British accent but failed
Lancashire isn't a city, it is a county. But that's cool that you were doing your GCSEs here. Where are you from originally ?
I’m from Hong Kong
How to learn the British accent tho😅
Cool, Well first things first you need to get rid if the idea of a 'British accent' that doesn't exist
Really?😯 how come?
Well you need to know that when you say "Britain" or "British" you are referring to 3 countries which all have very different accents to each other and within those countries there are many different accents. When people think of a "British accent" they are thinking of RP or the Queen's English but now it is more Southern (London) Standard English.
Oh I’ve heard of RP before. Received Pronunciation, right?
Yeah
I can still hear people speaking the London accent in some places
Yeah, Received pronunciation seems to be more and more common now.
I say I have a Northern English accent not Northern British because saying Northern British wouldn't be right and because the North of Britain is Scotland which is a place im not from 😀
Oh right yeah I understand it now. But after three years, I still didnt have the English accent😅
How old are you ? you will in time

Hello isra@scarlet marlin
Hello
Sure
What's the watermelon 🍉 doing here? Haha
you must practice with someone
Then who is someone 🥺
actually now i am about to start and put like a plan to follow
to improve my english and i have read that one of the ways that u will help u in learning that u have like a partner to help each others
if u wanna get into this then dm me .. i still searching for good plan to start
The existence of someone to practice with isn't required, you can talk in English fluently with no partner, the presence of some people to talk to is just a way of measuring how fleunt you are, and overcoming your fear of talking in a foreign language! You can improve by listening to some English youtubers, watching your favorite series or movie in English... Ect, most importantly you use this language even if it was with yourself only.. Good luck!
NOTE:
this is how it works to me, you might not find this way soo helpful... But give it a shot!
Can you judge my t-flapping please

The intended text to say was this one:
"Due to my formation in the psychology field and my most recent experience in the educational field, I have the capacity of plan, organize, direct and supervise talks, programs, and even research projects"
When talking about yourself you have the capacity ‘to’ do something
Also by formation you mean information right?
oh, no, like, formation as my experience
Your pronunciation of ‘educational’ was way off (don’t mean to be rude btw)
‘Educational’ is pronounced like eju-kay-shun-ul
You said something along the lines of edu-kay-shun-aal
You used the ‘y’ sound of the letter ‘j’ in the word ‘project’
Probably because of your native language
But ‘j’ uses the, well, j sound in English instead of the ‘y’ sound
There are a few other mispronunciations
But I’m on my phone rn so perhaps later I can tell you more
please do if you can, and, thank you so much for your time m8
talk is pronounced like taw-k like hawk
You pronounced it like tuk

I still keep in mind a certain wonderful sunset I witnessed when steamboating was new to me. A broad expanse of the river was turned to blood; in the middle distance the red hue brightened into gold, through which a solitary log came floating black and conspicuous, in one place a long, slanting mark lay sparkling upon the water; in another the surface was broken by boiling, tumbling rings that were as many-tinted as an opal; where the ruddy flush was faintest, was a smooth spot that was covered with graceful circles and radiating lines, ever so delicately traced; the shore on our left was densely wooded, and the somber shadow that fell from this forest was broken in one place by a long, ruffled trail that shone like silver; and high above the forest wall a clean-stemmed dead tree waved a single leafy bough that glowed like a flame in the unobstructed splendor that was flowing from the sun. There were graceful curves, reflected images, woody heights, soft distances; and over the whole scene, far and near, the dissolving lights drifted steadily, enriching it every passing moment with new marvels of coloring.
I stood like one bewitched. I drank it in, in a speechless rapture. The world was new to me, and I had never seen anything like this at home. But as I have said, a day came when I began to cease from noting the glories and the charms which the moon and the sun and the twilight wrought upon the river's face; another day came when I ceased altogether to note them. Then, if that sunset scene had been repeated, I should have looked upon it without rapture, and should have commented upon it, inwardly, after this fashion: "this sun means that we are going to have wind tomorrow; that floating log means that the river is rising, small thanks to it; that slanting mark on the water refers to a bluff reef which is going to kill somebody's steamboat one of these nights, if it keeps on stretching out like that; those tumbling "boils" show a dissolving bar and a changing channel there; the lines and circles in the slick water over yonder are a warning that that troublesome place is shoaling up dangerously. No, the romance and beauty were all gone from the river.
The audio quality changes in between since I was moving my mic a lot

working daily at an old zoo in a deserted district of the territory, so she was
very happy to start a new job at a superb private practice in North Square near
the Duke Street Tower. That area was much nearer for her and more to her
liking. Even so, on her first morning, she felt stressed. She ate a bowl of
porridge, checked herself in the mirror and washed her face in a hurry. Then
she put on a plain yellow dress and a fleece jacket, picked up her kit and
headed for work.
When she got there, there was a woman with a goose waiting for her. The
woman gave Sarah an official letter from the vet. The letter implied that the
animal could be suffering from a rare form of foot and mouth disease, which
was surprising, because normally you would only expect to see it in a dog or
a goat. Sarah was sentimental, so this made her feel sorry for the beautiful
bird.
Before long, that itchy goose began to strut around the office like a lunatic,
which made an unsanitary mess. The goose's owner, Mary Harrison, kept
calling, "Comma, Comma," which Sarah thought was an odd choice for a
name. Comma was strong and huge, so it would take some force to trap her,
but Sarah had a different idea. First she tried gently stroking the goose's lower
back with her palm, then singing a tune to her. Finally, she administered ether.
Her efforts were not futile. In no time, the goose began to tire, so Sarah was
able to hold on to Comma and give her a relaxing bath.
Once Sarah had managed to bathe the goose, she wiped her off with a cloth
and laid her on her right side. Then Sarah confirmed the vet’s diagnosis.
Almost immediately, she remembered an effective treatment that required her
to measure out a lot of medicine. Sarah warned that this course of treatment
might be expensive – either five or six times the cost of penicillin. I can’t
imagine paying so much, but Mrs. Harrison – a millionaire lawyer – thought
it was a fair price for a cure.```

thanks im practising on that
Hey
I do not mean to discourage you, but only 30% of all you said was understandable
-
Your short vowel sounds are way too long
-
Your 'sh' sounds are plain 's' sounds
-
Your 'b' sounds like a 'v' in some places, like the word 'urban'
-
Your diphthongs (sounds of two vowels connected in the same syllable) in some places sound monophthongal (only one vowel sound)
-
You don't seem to be pausing at the commas and the full stops but rather at random words.
-
Working on your intonation will go a long way in helping you sound 'native'
-
There are some sounds that you are making like a native; if you were to work on and fix the above mistakes, you'd sound like one in no time.
Yeah no offence taken. I'm rather greatful to see detailed advice on mistakes I made . Thanks a lot.🙂

Honestly although it’s a bit hard to hear due to background noise as you said your speaking sounds that of someone who is an intermediate. I would say that’s mostly understandable but there are times where a listener may miss a word or string of words. All around this was a good job 👍
Thanks. But here is the catch, i started learning english when i was in kindergarden and all the way though highschool and everything i learned in my bachelors was also in english. Unfortunately it was all only written english and rarely ever spoken english. Anyways, i am gonna make it a priority to improve it now
You make a lot of great effort. I would agree to say it’s at an intermediate level. Keep on practicing your natural speaking and im sure over time you will improve 🙂

Sounds like a typical australian accent to me
Pretty good! In my opinion, I think the 2 biggest things that could improve it:
- Pronunciation of the /th/ sound. e.g. 'other', 'third'
- Slow down, just a little. e.g. 'just as Victoria' sounded like 'just a Victoria' because it was too fast, I think
I really hate that sound "th". I appreciate it, my chiswola
No problem! Yeah, apparently the /th/ sound is very uncommon in other languages. English is one of the only languages that uses it
Yeap, unfortunately...my tongue dies when I pronounce that "th"

I am kinda sick so it was hard for me to talk but I still tried :D
and somehow when I am sick its even harder for me to pronounce most words idk how or why so I normally pronounce words a bit better
I honestly think it sounds pretty perfect, other than a couple things. Funny enough, it's the same things I told the last person to work on:
- Pronunciation of the /th/ sound. e.g. 'north', 'they', 'that', 'then'
- Slow down, just a little. e.g. 'traveler took off' at 0:35 sounded like 'travel took off'
oh I have adhd so thats why I talk fast haha
I tried to talk slow too
Oh wow, haha. I think otherwise it sounds great. If not for the /th/ sound, I would probably assume you were a native british person
Oh thank you
I am sick so its hard to pronounce some words especially the ones has the th sound haha
Thanks

It sounds like a mixture of Australian and with American twang. Often Asian's (particularly Philippino and Malay) have this from having American teachers. Considering you were born in Australia (or raised here?) It's interesting you still have the U.S vowels
Really?
I was born in Australia(ethically Chinese)
Yeah I'm Australian (born and raised Caucasian) and without doubt I can hear an American accent in there (around the vowels)
Maybe cuz i talk with a lot of Americans on discord lol

Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, and what is the use of a book,' thought Alice without pictures or conversation?'
So she was considering in her own mind (as well as she could, for the hot day made her feel very sleepy and stupid), whether the pleasure of making a daisy-chain would be worth the trouble of getting up and picking the daisies, when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her.

Good. I, as a native speaker, understood everything. But sometimes I had to think for a second because the pronunciation was a bit off on some words. One word I noticed that your pronunciation can improve on is the word familiar. You were putting the stress on the first part of it, making it sound like fam-yill-er. Put the stress on the IL part of it and pronounce it more like fumm-ill-ee-er. But otherwise, good job 👍
Thanks for a quick reply.

You are not speaking some of the words properly enough. You cut some of ur words too short(much like you only speak half of the word). Read a little more slowly with accuracy. Don’t think about sounding like a native yet

There was once upon a time an old goat who had seven little kids, and loved them with all the love of a mother for her children. One day she wanted to go into the forest and fetch some food. So she called all seven to her and said, dear children, I have to go into the forest, be on your guard against the wolf, if he comes in, he will devour you all - skin, hair, and everything. The wretch often disguises himself, but you will know him at once by his rough voice and his black feet. The kids said, dear mother, we will take good care of ourselves, you may go away without any anxiety. Then the old one bleated, and went on her way with an easy mind. It was not long before some one knocked at the house-door and called, open the door, dear children, your mother is here, and has brought something back with her for each of you. But the little kids knew that it was the wolf, by the rough voice. We will not open the door, cried they, you are not our mother. She has a soft, pleasant voice, but your voice is rough, you are the wolf. Then the wolf went away to a shopkeeper and bought himself a great lump of chalk, ate this and made his voice soft with it. The he came back, knocked at the door of the house, and called, open the door, dear children, your mother is here and has brought something back with her for each of you. But the wolf had laid his black paws against the window, and the children saw them and cried, we will not open the door, our mother has not black feet like you, you are the wolf. Then the wolf ran to a baker and said, I have hurt my feet, rub some dough over them for me. And when the baker had rubbed his feet over, he ran to the miller and said, strew some white meal over my feet for me. The miller thought to himself, the wolf wants to deceive someone, and refused, but the wolf said, if you will not do it, I will devour you.```

Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
The death of Cleopatra VII, the last ruler of Ptolemaic Egypt, occurred on either 10 or 12 August, 30 BC, in Alexandria, when she was 39 years old. According to popular belief, Cleopatra killed herself by allowing an asp (Egyptian cobra) to bite her, but for the Roman-era writers Strabo, Plutarch, and Cassius Dio, Cleopatra poisoned herself using either a toxic ointment or by introducing the poison with a sharp implement such as a hairpin. Modern scholars debate the validity of ancient reports involving snakebites as the cause of death and if she was murdered or not. Some academics hypothesize that her Roman political rival Octavian forced her to kill herself in a manner of her choosing. The location of Cleopatra's tomb is unknown. It was recorded that Octavian allowed for her and her husband, the Roman politician and general Mark Antony, who stabbed himself with a sword, to be buried together properly.
Cleopatra's death effectively ended the final war of the Roman Republic between the remaining triumvirs Octavian and Antony, in which Cleopatra aligned herself with Antony, father to three of her children. Antony and Cleopatra fled to Egypt following their loss at the 31 BC Battle of Actium in Roman Greece, after which Octavian invaded Egypt and defeated their forces. Committing suicide allowed her to avoid the humiliation of being paraded as a prisoner in a Roman triumph celebrating the military victories of Octavian, who would become Rome's first emperor in 27 BC and be known as Augustus.

She stared blankly, showing no emotion whatsoever. ‘It’s just a dream...right?...’ is all that went through her head at a moment. Tears were slowly showing on her face and the emotion of sadness suddenly overwhelmed her. She couldn’t stop herself from bursting out. He was lifeless in her arms. His body slowly got cold as his colour was leaving. He no longer has a soul. His dull eyes were staring into oblivion. Her father exchanged his life for hers. He fought till his last breath. It was over in a flash, a big sword pierced through his body hitting his vitals and killing him within seconds. Poor girl had to see her father’s death and now she’s holding his corpse hoping she’s in a dream. Her friend dragged her as she groaned and cried uncontrollably. Memories flooded her mind as she blankly stared. They had such a great time. He fulfilled both parent roles, she never felt a thirst for her mother, she only needed him. Yet he has left her alone in this world.

I live in a house near the mountains. I have two brothers and one sister, and I was born last. My father teaches mathematics, and my mother is a nurse at a big hospital. My brothers are very smart and work hard in school. My sister is a nervous girl, but she is very kind. My grandmother also lives with us. She came from Italy when I was two years old. She has grown old, but she is still very strong. She cooks the best food!
My family is very important to me. We do lots of things together. My brothers and I like to go on long walks in the mountains. My sister likes to cook with my grandmother. On the weekends we all play board games together. We laugh and always have a good time. I love my family very much.

It's clear and easy to understand but your accent is a bit Indian (but its not hard so I think you can keep working on pronunciations and the flow of sentences more). On the other hand, you need to put a lot more emphasis on each word and make it loud, going with the flow. Be relaxed when speaking English.
- Hope it helps! And don't be hesitant to ask about anything else!
I couldn't quite get what you were saying most of time but I think it's because you are not putting efforts on words, like you skip the pronunciation of most words. But the good thing is you tried to be relaxed and went with the flow - you just need to work on making it sound clear.
Thanks!

AN IMPORTANT PASSENGER ON THE TAURUS EXPRESS It was five o'clock on a winter's morning in Syria. Alongside the platform at Aleppo stood the train grandly designated in railway guides as the Taurus Express. It consisted of a kitchen and dining-car, a sleeping-car and two local coaches. By the step leading up into the sleeping-car stood a young French lieutenant, resplendent in uniform conversing, with a small man muffled up to the ears of whom nothing was visible but a pink-tipped nose and the two points of an upward-curled moustache. It was freezingly cold, and this job of seeing off a distinguished stranger was not one to be envied, but Lieutenant Dubosc performed his part manfully. Graceful phrases fell from his lips in polished French. Not that he knew what it was all about. There had been rumours, of course, as there always were in such cases. The General's—his General's—temper had grown worse and worse. And then there had come this Belgian stranger—all the way from England, it seemed. There had been a week—a week of curious tensity.

Hi guys
Is it necessary to stress on each word?
What do you mean?
I didn’t do it, if I understood it correctly, sometimes that I made some stress was a kind of expression, because Sometimes you “need” to pretend that you’re acting in order to make/force you pronunciation like a native, forcing your brain to scape from your native language. Then after that, listening to yourself, you start to sculpting the details. I didn’t make it “on each word”.
Hi
Ah ok
Might be i am wrong here
Hi

Hi here
can i learn american accent?
Anyone can learn an accent! Especially an American accent because it is widely considered to be the easiest English accent. If you really want to improve on your accent then I recommend listening to podcasts or TV shows that have American people casted in it. Like "The Joe Rogan Experience" for a podcast, or watching a TV show like "Friends". There are tons of media you can listen to! You just have to find the one that is best suited to you.
"The Joe Rogan Experience" is a great choice but unfortunately they don't use subtitles
@gritty furnace you just have to go to the settings and turn it on
Thank you so much, yes but it's autogenerated and not accurate, helpful though
It's mostly accurate. Joe usually has a very clear tone of voice
Oh! awesome I will definitely check it out
Hii
