I mostly practice. But I have methods which are very effective as well, here are some of them:

1. Reading: it tremendously expands the breadth of your vocabulary.
2. Imitating: to improve your speaking and pronunciation, try imitating native speakers. You could also use YouGlish to search for a word and listen to the correct pronunciation in whichever accent you prefer.
3. Writing: practicing to write consistently allows you to apply and experiment with your new vocab.
4. Speaking: this might sound weird, but speak to yourself in English. Just imagine an ongoing conversation and speak to yourself. Note that I usually engage in spoken conversations with others to boost my confidence, not to improve my speaking skills honestly.
