I think if we are on the same page, your explanation might be neglecting an important aspect which is the theory laying down the path for practical examination and falsification of it, which is then followed by refining the theory in order to find the other path which our practical examination can go through next.
In the case of encountering a new phenomenon, we'll have to form some kind of theory in order to know where to look and examine it for discrepancies or incorrect ideas, in order to refine it, sometimes eventually becoming a fact.
I think your thought is still correct in certain instances, it all depends on the situation and the circumstances.

I chose Arch for the level of control that comes with it, and also because I like building things from the ground up and personalize my Distro in detail.

You should try anything that suits you, not things that I use. I'd highly recommend you try out KDE Plasma. The customization it gives you is immessurable

And it's pretty suprising that Arch was your first distro

Well, even if I can achieve the same level of customization, it would be a hustle against the default system configurations.
Desktop environments provide certain ways to customize them (such as Plasma and Gnome), although they are extremely customizable, a window manager is more like a blank canvas that grants you freedom to do whatever you like, from the wallpaper daemon, to the icons of your choice.

Well, window managers are usually extremely lightweight, and you have the ability to tailor them the way you like without any unnecessary packages being installed on your machine.
Other than that, Plasma is pretty capable, and it also has a tiling system, not exactly like the one you find in window managers, but still good enough.
