we haven't had our back and forth banter yet!
really sorry .
i'm so tired
Well sleepy for u then
A breakthough in the project, Team! Its likely that we do not need to search for raised ink, as we may be able to use differences in the paper line imaging itself to detect absorbed ink that may show differently to the clear areas. Are you ready Steve, Andy, Mick, alright Let's go....
Brian Connolly - lead vocals
Andy Scott - guitar, synthesizer, vocals
Steve Priest - bass, vocals
Mick Tucker - drums, percussion, vocals
The recording was produced by Phil Wainman.
The song was written by Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn

Or simply use typescript
I must admit, the use of type was a bad choice for the example
if (Large && comfortable) then Print("hello") vs
if not large return;
if not comfortable return;
print("Hello");
whose a little sleepyhead then;?
why dont u sleep now?
it's late night there
🤔
u have to relax for your health
missed all the action. The team is meeting and got the git going ang roles allocated. Constipated Mathematicians are working it out with their pencils etc

It's weird for me that people completely neglected the main point which "Guard Clauses" and focused on the condition which happens to check for the type.
Anyways, seems like it's been of no benefit for anybody, so I'll remove it.

Yes, now less people will throw their PC or laptops in the garbage. :>
@brave pond I'm here
For some reasons I'm deleting this account and leaving server
They could just reboot it :D

So tell why
Why am I such a freak?
You're outta your mind (oh my, oh my)
Who the fuck are you to judge me?
And I told you I'd be different
And I told you I was wild
You're stuck in denial
Yeah, I think that maybe you're the freak
Bruh, it was a joke.
There are plenty of things you can do if you're stuck in an application, if you're using a desktop environment like Plasma or Gnome you can simply terminate the terminal app.
Not to mention you logging out.

Good afternoon friends
Does this mean, You have found a new job, or you are looking for a new job?
I am looking for a new job.
Then, good luck in your quest
I just spent 2 hours shopping for a cable adaptor to plug a mic into my dumb laptop. I've already used 3 adaptors to get it to something that looks possible, but was missing a 4 pole for the laptop. So I bought that, and the mother still doesn't work without jiggling it about (and that was after 3 hours of reading 10 years of don't buy an HP computer as the plug doesn't do anything, and the HP support say, buy an adaptor. mfmfmfmfmfmf. After finally getting a line in from my phone, I could hear some sound, but all are crap, so I'm going to buy a new computer, and give this back mf 1 yr old gaming piece of junk from HP.
Then, while I was at the electronics shop, I bought a new power toggle switch for my Guitar amp. Do you think I could just pull, it out from the surface, like all the rocker switches are designed to do. It took 15 minutes to lever it out, and it still wouldn't budge. So I then started removing the back screws dozens, and the board would not come out. In the end I removed every screw that was visible and the mf wouldn't open until I dropped it on the ground and got the start of a crack I could lever it apart with. Then the wires wont come off the witch, cvause its so short, and is probably soldered on rather tha clipped. So thats all over the floor now, and I'm going to cook a steak.
nice to meet you
hi everyone~!~!~
Hi

So true. I have a bad plug in my laptop and I wouldn't choose another similar plug if smth happened with my current plug

(Guard condition as recently described by Flare)
15 years ago or more, workers went to lunch and drank lots of beer and never returned to work, so effectively it was deescribed as starting the weekend on Friday afternoon. However with all the Health and Safety legislation that now means companies get sued very easily for any safety concern, an incident involving alcohol is just too easy to prosecute. So they do random alcohol testing at many companies, and people don't drink at lunch, so they end up returning to work, and the weekend starts on Saturday, as its only 2 days Sat and Sun. (The whole story doesn't make sense, as if they drink they still don't return, so they don't get tested, so the weekend still starts on Friday.... But they cant go back at 4:55 to sign out and get paid so that's the issue)
lol
You're a nice person. 🤍
What do you think about using the term "engineering" in the fields of computer science, such as the title "software engineer" etc...?
I mean, some people say it's not real engineering, therefore you shouldn't use that term, 'cause it's sort of reserved for certain people.
Years ago, it basically was applied to roles that worked with programming involving a closer tie to the hardware, whereas programmers/analysts did more business related programming. As a computer industry person, one should know that a software engineer does not necessarily hold an 'Engineering' degree, but probably works in an environment closer to hardware development, such as aerospace, robotics etc.
@shy glade
How about web developers, such as back-end, front-end, etc..., also game developers use a lot of mathematics such as linear algebra, calculus, geometry, trigonometry, statistics etc...?
Some companies call their programming employees "software engineers", such as Microsoft, others like Google, call them developers, so it's kind of confusing when one thinks about it for some time.
Web developers should not consider thenselves as stack or half stack or any stack. They should be able to work on all aspects of ' the stack' and more. To me its like learning how to program and learning only input() and print() and saying I'm a front end programmer, and saying one day I'll be a full programmer, but loops and conditions are to scary and too advanced for me.
I agree, I hear a lot of people say I'm a Front-end dev while they only code in HTML, and CSS. xD
Just to clarify, I'm not downplaying HTML, and CSS, obviously, and honestly some people consider HTML a declarative programming language (similar to SQL, those are programming languages that instruct what to do, instead of how to do it), but I'm just saying that in modern day Front-end, you have to be fluent in more languages and technologies than only HTML and CSS in order to be at least considered at the minimum level of skill.
Game developers may be using mathematics etc, but they are really just learning how to use advanced graphical libraries that were written by folks in the years past. Sure there are always ongoing enhancements, and the industry is potentially exciting, and one would think, I get to make little people move on the screen. I se it as simulation software, which ofc can be used for more than just games. I think people should consider looking at a bigger range of companies, who would be working in just as complex simulation and operational software, but isn't aimed specifically at roman empire historians, as there are plenty of games available and its easy for those companies to go bust quickly and lay off the staff. The location of such big companies that you would expect to last are rare to find and scattered across the earth, but there is a high probability you don't live next to Steam or EA . As a starter in the industry its going to be hard to waste a year or more trying to apply for work overseas especially in countries that hate immigrants. Again, mining, aerospace, manufacturing are all good places to get into high tech simulation control software that will be just as interesting and much easier to access closer to where one lives.
I see, I agree with most of what you're saying, except the point that they use advanced graphical libraries that were written in the past. Although I believe it's a good idea to kind of try to reinvent the wheel, as it can offer a valuable insight of the underlying processes, but the point is, there is no field in the world where people do things from scratch, it's always gonna be a cumulative effort built on top of previous ones. The point about game dev that I was trying to make is that, they do use a plethora of engineering-specific laws and principles, game developing has aspects where the developer build a complete physics system based on real physical laws and forces, or at least achieving a very similar effect to how physical laws work.
I guess you would have to see what is available as the business's library set within any organization, to then see how much physics and movement you really need to program, or that which just needs to be configured.
Front-end also kind of work on things that involve some skills in geometry.
Back-end has things like database and architecture designs.
Not to mention performance measurement and architecture design that is in almost all the fields of computer science, so I believe at least most of the computer science fields are actually engineering to some extent, and therefore it's completely valid to use the title "software engineer".
That's my opinion.
Also, one would be in a team responsible for a sub set of all of the software, and would be developing the features for that. Its is probably a misconception that one would get a job in a game software dev company and do everything and produce the full end product. I think this is a misconstrued fantasy. Sure you may need to plug it into the test versions of the game and see someone jump in the working game with the latest formulae you coded, but like any trade, a potential gf/bf would probably be very unimpressed with the knowledge that you programmed a foot to look twisted after a character sprains the ankle. Just like a plumber does nice pipe layout and soldering or an electrician lays out a wonderful neat loom of cables. Its lost on people that are not part of the industry. But it is still exciting, I don't deny that.
It's true that you most probably find some sort of physics system already implemented for you in the game engine or the framework you're intending to use, and you find a lot of other useful tools that save you a ton of work, but at the end of the day, real game devs would be able to implement those anyways, the purpose of those ready-made tools and "libraries" is to facilitate the development so that you focus more on other aspects of your work, rather than reinventing the wheel, even if you're able to.
So my point is that, they are as much of engineering as any engineering field, all of them involve planning, designing, and building the software.
I hold no grudge against anyone being called or holding such a title. Its a computer industry term, and its company choice over what they want to call their roles. I'm sure Android team in Google are called Marshmallow, and Toffee etc, rather than team leader and system analyst
yes.
that is what I was talking about with teams working on subsets of software. They are all classes and libraries of such.
Yes, I agree.
What I'm aiming to establish with my question is that, people who believe the term "software engineer" is valid do have a solid point, but at the end of the day, it's all subjective honestly, which is something I really hate about my field. 😂
What level of class you are woreking on is up to the business when they stick you in a team. You then program and test the enhancements t the libraries, and they then flow throughto users of those libraries in their programming tasks, semmlessly implemented (hopefully)
printf(software_engineer == software_developer) // true
hi
That's in the industry, there is no difference whatsoever. One can be a software engineer at Microsoft, and switches to Google for them to be called software developer.
Hey! 👋
Ive been both, and I've' moved from one role as 'engineer' oriented to 'business' oriented as they work became available and I was successful in convincing employers of my abilities. The abilities do not correlate to the role title. The titles are arbitrary with a bit of leveling involved within teams.
are we talking about software engineer vs software developer?
Agreed, many titles are arbitrary.
The original topic was whether or not programmers and developers can use the title "engineer", such as "software engineer" etc...
ahh I see
Once you get in the job, you are handed a task, and you start working on it, then move on to the next. It may involve coding, specing, or testing or all for the one little task you are given. Your work then incorporates into the bigger system, so it needs to work, or it suffs up all the dependent systems.
I think Flare and I both agree yes
The topic is honestly of no benefit whatsoever. I don't even know why did I raise it. 😂
haha

I'm sure lot of people in this profession has that question, so its a good topic
for all the readers here who would like to questions but are afraid to ask
be of good cheer
why so sad
imo engineers has more responsibilities
imo I just think they think they have
The answer is pretty simple, it's subjective. Whether or not you believe it's engineering depends on what you think is engineering and how it's related to the field. Me personally, I believe there is a solid point for programmers to be called software engineers.
Using Float 4 instead of float 8 has just as bad consequences for a financial program as it does for a GPS navigation system
I agree 🙂
Did you just get a rejection from a software engineer position by any chance. You appear to be a little upset.

In my experience when I was working as a developer I used to solely focus on developing the application mostly coding. But when I started working as an engineer I have to get involved in all stages in SDLC.
Nah, lol. I just felt the chat is kind of dead, so I decided it rev it up a little. 😂
cheer up dude
Yes, planning, designing, building, testing etc...
I think those are distinguishing factors for software engineers.
I think that is not causation. You would naturally have moved into those fields regardless of being called 'engineer' or 'developer' at the start. Its just progression through the experience hierarchy.
If you work in a big dev team, you stay closer to one role, and if you work in small teams, you may need to get involved in a lot more. Not every company can pay for designers and testors and architects. Somethimes you just get that little system and become the guru.
He meant that it's more of a position or an area of skills and experience.
But I do that without the engineer title
its the old google or microsoft title again
Ayy yo, something of my interest
Yes, that's true, but remember, not all developers can perform testing, architecting, and designing, in fact, most jenior level developers don't yet have any skills in any of them, or at least most of them.
That's why I said they are distinguishing factors.
true, and I don't think they would be offered the position if they could not convince the employer they had the ability or at least confidence to admit they could
so , no to a junior, but a couple of years you could end up in a stand alone dev/ all job
depends on company again. Be willing to work for 20 person companies where you become the IT department
networks, help desk, programming, design, purchasing ots
coffee maker
its true
correct me if I'm wrong but when I was a developer I would use the programming language that I know to develop an application. But as an engineer I would need to decide programming language, tools basically the components should be used for making it cost efficient.

Startups need to hire senior level developers, whereas enterprise companies might don't need to do this all the time.
I think it is depends on perspective
I think false. I think you just goty a job where you had to do that. Most companies will already have their dev environment selected, and everything is set up around their existing configs. Unless they are specifically looking to upgrade
You would be hired if you knew the existing languages used, or could convince the senior developer that you were fast at picking up their language and dev env
SW Engineering is superset of development i guess
I think its the responsibility of an engineer to setup those environments.
engineers should focus on maitaining the app in the future in a cost efficient way
I think we can agree on one thing, we programmers are horribly bad at setting coherent titles. 😂
We engineer a product and develop it
What job did you get that you selected the language, and tools, etc. How big was the company (persons) and how much of an IT/tech team existed already
not programming language but protocol, gRPC, RESTful, GraphQL
Technologies.
That's more of a generic term for it.
What did you build with gRPC?
I am saying its just the luck of the draw when you get your first job. Do they call you a programmer, a developer or software engineer. It all is just entry level computing first up. The 'prestige' is artificial and is like the rivalry between Engineering/Science students vs Arts students in any university
Or probably we set names without provided a universal definition for it, so that everybody can agree on it.
we had to decide between those, but we chose GraphQL...
this would be some what similar to wcf web application where RPC
Oh I see, any specific reason to select GraphQL? You wanted flexibility in data delivery?
But I've worked in many organizations where ICT team members do exactly that without the use of the work 'Engineer' its not an exclusive abilities club ticket
GraphQL is incredibly good, apart from setting it up, which is a real pain, it's a great choice for very large projects, especially ones that suffer from requirements volatility.
performance was major reason for us to chose GraphQL over other
yes, but we dont set them. Owners of businesses do, or the first junior programmer they hire to set up their ICT on a 10000$ budget get to start the standards for a company.
I thought gRPCs are more performant. Did you guys benchmarked all thee and found out GrpahQL is faster?
hello wellcome
GraphQL was faster for the design that we had. We just had to query stuff that we need and dont waste any computation on retrieving the stuff that we dont need from the data store.
Yes, I think they later get spread industry-wide, which is the source of all of this confusion. Another thing is deciding who deserves to be called "Senior" and who doesn't (I mean a senior developer, not someone who's senior in the sense that they are old).
Just as long as the members of the team know what everyone is responsible for they say.: " Go see joe, or Mary is working on that code, or jane is designing that module etc". The role title falls away after you get you position, and is only needed for new people. Once they know who you are and what you can do or answer, all is locked in.
Ahh I see, that’s cool
Impressive
hi
Hey
hi
hi
Hello my friend, that's great! ✨
I use Lua to configure my Neovim.
hello everyone
wellcome
It's a great language.
conversation dementia
is it difficult to switch from web dev to ml or datascience - anybody done that?
hmm
I also use Python, it really shins the most for me when used for automation and scripting (scripting is a form of programming where you write a code that does a specific task for you on your PC, such as organizing system files).
I may have to go to bed early, as I have to work on a Windows/door tomorrow. The border has come away from the background glass, and I'll need to use some development tools such as a rubber mallet to fix it and test it.
byebye
I said early.. not necessarily now
It's a completely different field.
so i think it would be verry hard
ahh I see
The hardest barrier to break is convincing your new employer that you have the skills to move into their team. Being well read and knowing some of the buzz words and tech involved and even working on such stuff at home will help a lot in providing examples of your experience.
thank Peo, that makes sense.. However I wonder how much effort does it take to feel comfortable once we get hired or moved to the team.
ANother hard part, is just finding an employer, doing the work you want to be involved in, close to where you are located. If you are happy to apply long distance, and then move there if you get a job/visa, thats good. But most people are fixed to their home town and family in their first years of work
cracking the interview can be done after some hit and trails but what after getting hired. I worry if all the time invested on that will the be worth it. This is what thats holding me back currently.
If you are good at coding, that environments and languages are not going to be an issue. The hard part then is getting to understand the business processes, what the company does, and what all their internal terminology means. If you work for an agricultural industry for example, people are going to be talking about genus and species etc, and these will appear in the applications. Its not all that difficult, but its the bit that makes you uncomfortable. The programming etc, is going to be the same as the last place, unless you are now also learning a new language. The other big dev problem is learning the structure of the class libraries and how the primary applications are built and hang together, and where and what the database looks like etc. You need to ask people lots of questions to get to know the system. you have to ask lots of questions to find documentation to tell you also, and you have to ask questions to find out who to ask. eventually you get settled in.
8 days exactly
I assume you have done some sort of uni degree? maybe/
raj
yep I agree we do need to put a lot of effort to gain the domain knowledge. Also switching from web dev to ML would also need learning new tools in addition to new programming language. Moreover I also think ML/Data-science require strong theoretical knowledge on the algorithm and statistics..... as I'm typing this I am leaning toward not switching 😄
yes I have 🙂
Get into it when you are starting. They do not expect you to be an expert. However if you stay in your current position too long, you suffer from being thought of as whatever you've been doing, and not flexible enough to change. Then you really will be trapped. Also tech changes every few years, so if you stay in one position/env with a company, you may become unskilled to move into any new positions, so you need to do work on the side for yourself on leading edge tech, and also be willing to change companies or at least positions every few years. Once you become known as a 'xxx' language person, and something new has been around for a while, you won't get into that without being able to say. I do that also.
good point!
In this profession we surely need to keep ourselves updated with latest tech
I have worked for over 45 companies in my career in around 10 different industries, holding all types of roles, both computer termed and other, and the personal learning at home was essential in the transition interviews between businesses.
wow! that's a lot!
yeah that makes sense... side project for personal growth is always good thing.
from the archives of this channel
Hi dude
is there is someone who is rly interested in CTF ?!
here is my home
i already celebrated

i born at 1997
for now.

👍
as I understanding she have task at tomorrow, so she go to bed early
hi im mariem im 17 years old im from tunisia i like coding and im learning python , html , css , javascript and i just start learning data base
hello! wellcome!
so what languages are u leaning ?
HELLO
have anybody tried prolog before or any logic language
Good morning friends
good morning
Long so in a galaxy far away. I was just talking about prolog a few days ago. Find memories, but they are all gone now, apart from it being interesting.
One of my workmates thought prolog was so interesting, he set himself the task of writing a prolog interpreter. Can't say that I used it for anything serious. But interesting alternative way to look at things.
who is using any Linux/BSD os (I'm using Arch BTW). 🗿
BSD?
it's an os based directly on Unix
ah I see.
I use ubuntu base images to host some of the apps. thats all I use it for 🙂
that's cool bro 🫡
what do you use Arch for?
We had to do something similar for our coursework. Parse and build trees and execute the stuff.
What db are you working with?
Now where is that.. oh ofc, front and centre.
Hey, that's quite fun. I might write a prolog interpreter. I think I'm having flashbacks.
Hi @pure copper Pleased to meet you again
Hope you enjoy your weekend
But seems like you are busy with your coursework
How can I help you?
I am about to build a prolog command parser, using C++ and building a pointer tree structure to then process the statements at a later stage. Any suggestions?
good evening everyone~
Yes, don't do it
@quiet vale
yes
Working on any project?
Hi @pure copper Lets chat using DM
Here is always good
Perhaps my version of pac man, I'm quick to float between ideas.
The text in that book is like 7 point font
Phew... English conversation makes me too nervous...
Hi @pure copper Perhaps impolite question, could you tell me how old you are? I just wanna know whether you are a high school student or a college student
Thanks for telling me, and you can call me Eugene, how can I call you? I am a university student, junior
Peo is what people call me here
hahaha, I just want to know your real one
I can't understand why you think it is dangerous if you share your name with others, can others steal your name? or can they do something illegal with your real name? There are hundreds of people with the same name in the world, I think you are two nervous
I am unique in my part of the world
Additionally, I like calling others with their real name, if I use nick name or something like that, I tend to forget them after sometime, and calling with real ones give you a feeling of ... close friendship
I think so too, you are unique in your personality and appearance, and that is why I am talking to you
There are a few people working here to do the same. They are progressing well, with Peo

That belongs to others cases, how can we be a good friend even without knowing real name? @pure copper Can we jump on a quick call?
no calls
Wow
Do not impose.
who are you talking to? Me or Peo?
to everyone
You should do some research. I must get back to my readings
Research about what?
wrong transrate
Whatever you study
I believe that if someone expresses their opinion, we should respect it.
My study is to understand you @pure copper
hmm much better
what about java
now i'm studying SpringBoot
I totally agree with your opinion, I just wanted to know my friends name
exactly
but its also stalkish. This isn't a dating server
i will start Java tomorrow
oh really? how was it
Ah, I am not flirting you, I just tried to know nothing more than your name
Tomorrow hasn't come yet
I want to know how was it but I realize I didn't even start lol
Sharp minded girl

Is there any expression that represents laugh sound instead lol(loool, llllloool...)?
@pure copper you the owner of programming chan
no
Yes
just type here, althoygh some think that because I type too much
This your home
there is lmao

lmao
one of a few
Time ago I made snake playable in console, pygame and.. tkinter lol
That's great. I'm glad some people write fun little programs
Its a mini challenge
Finding an idea is alwways the hardest
Building it in the best way is the next challenge
Yes Im kinda hobbyist but have many projects done and more just as concepts
lamo
I need to read a lot, before I commit to things, unfortunately. But prsently PLC is on the board. Just got to find out what is the best to start with before investing $ in it. Also need an idea to build with it
Rickrolling
Thanks for the warning
i added it for fun 😂
but ong guys i made the whole project not just the rickroll
@pure copper this something I made for fun https://youtu.be/jatwmhAl4BI?si=Gdh6ucEz69ZKdvp9
This is a restyled version of my project informally called "Python Hexagon" based on "Super Hexagon" by Terry Canavagh.
enjoy and let me know if you are interested in getting this game published somewhere for you to play.
I'm not dedicating very much time to it nowadays but will do if i see interest.
wow cool
Video a bit blurry though
That's cool man
That's ok to see in small size.
Thank you ✨
Thanks 👍
👍
you just know python or more ?
I know basic c++, and more Java, I made some android apps too
I should have recorded in higher res
i didn't decided yet TBH i just want to have an idea about every field first
for now i find the web developing funny to learn and easy
Yes, you should do what you find more fun and interesting
The interest to keep studying is most important whatever you learn
i agree !
👍
That's when motivation arises, and in programming you need to be very motivated
yeah that's a great point to mention
very nice
Thank you ma'am
but you can't be motivated every time
Sure, that's why doing things you like is key
But why 22 children?
What?
yeah this is it, the key for doing it every day
Yt algo is crazy lol
interesting
I did actually see hex, but now 22 frozen kids

Oh... It's 3:15 AM... i gotta sleep.
See you later guys

i even have belarusian family name, while i speak 0 russian
It was a strange choice
Do u speak belarusian?
no
Sad
i speak polish, cuz i was raised in poland
all i know about belarus is Minsk
and protests few years ago
and my own family name
I rarely understand polish. Sometimes I clearly understand, but I usually hear pshpshpshpsh
lmao yeah thats common
i learned to read russian, actually, like the cyrillic
belarusians write in this too i think
its funny because i mistake everything for everything, and i can read only the digital fonts, handwritten cyrillic is absolutely illegible to me
I had read a letter in polish and I understood the sense. My eyes were O.O
Usually it is. But u can find latin variant
like my nickname
Lol
But my nickname isn't about chess🤣
That's right
zbićjen is a bear from honey
I thought u have smth like this🤔
possibly, i cant recall anything similar
I look at it in dictionary
do you hate poland in belarus lol
Lol, I lied. It's not a bear, but it is made from honey
doesnt matter, i bet someone just takes the honey out and makes it out of vodka
It depends on political views. If u like Lukašenko, then u don't like Poland. If u don't like Lukašenko, so...
and you? do you think polish are bad people lol
Poland has a big Belorussian diaspora
No, I love our relationship with Poland
yeah, my grandmother speaks belarusian, my parents already can not, while i speak only polish despite being genetically belarussian
We get a lot of help from u
I see
U can start to learn, if u want.
makes sense
nice to hear
honestly for me its like, uhhh, i really dislike how this world works you know
i dislike that there are wars and that people hate each other
I see
for me everyone is a good person even if theyre russian (cuz war right), i dont mind the nationality as long as they are friendly and safe
thanks, tbh i think that polish generally dont really know much about belarus, we know only the protests from few years ago
and now polish media usually portray belarus very very negatively (cuz łukaszenka is hated here)
We had a difficult relationship in the past and I'm glad that polish stayed positive to our people now. We really need ur support
i support everybody as long as theyre not crazy i guess. like i would not like anybody to suffer, or die, no matter where theyre from, we live in the 21st century and humanity should be too developed to fight itself
I think many polish do not like belarus, because they think every belarusian hates polish. I think it doesnt have to be like this, there surely must be some normal people who dont like wars
Yeah, they are mostly in Poland or Lithuania
Lol
i guess
it terrifies me that there are people who want to kill others
there are many more pleasurable activities in life to indulge in, other than homicide or genocide
People are different. Smb really wants to kill, smb wants to get money in all ways. Smb appeared in difficult situation. So I can understand the reasons of war
i can too, perhaps, but for me i would never like to take a part in anything like that. i prefer comfort
comfort is comfortable
Ahahah, I agree
deaths and catastrophies are not cozy lol
What are u studying in CS?
am not in university right now, am a hobbyist
hobbyist in linux and javascript
so i dont really even work in IT yet, i just code for fun and mess around with linux and stuff
How many Linux do u try?
oh, how many distros?
I don't like js with its weak typing
Yep, I mean distros
not that many to be honest. I currently just stay at linux mint xfce, but i have tried debian, ubuntu, arch, and some smaller ones like puppy linux
and other tiny ones like lubuntu
Ahahah, you've tried more than me
Yes, it is quite annoying sometimes. But I like web dev, and javascript is the backbone of it, in modern programming its hard to live without js to be honest, everyone knows at least a little bit of it
I've tried Ubuntu and Mint. Now I'm using Fedora
Yeah, I agree, but I don't want to be frontend developer😆
I see
and sometimes its useful to have additional knowledge about things. Some python devs also need to know some js in case theyre demanded to implement web features, everything depends on the company. Knowledge is good
I need to get a work in this year, so I speak from an employee position
ah i see, youre planning to work in belarus in IT?
I've tried js. That's enough from me
I don't want to work in Belarus, but I don't have enough English level to get a job in Europe.
ahh, this sounds as if you were stuck a little bit
What other languages should i learn to be a front end dev except (HTML CSS JS)
And I need to create a portfolio. Good thing, that I have time.
I'm deeply stuck
from languages thats enough for the front. The frameworks and libraries will make you exhausted tho. No one uses vanilla css, so aim for SCSS, or bootstrap, or tailwindCSS, or materialUI. No one uses vanilla javascript, so aim for Reactjs, or Vuejs, or Angularjs, or Typescript.
web dev is filled with libraries and frameworks
Ohh i thought that the frameworks make it easy for developper
Oh, well, I wish you the best then. There is always something for you somewhere - maybe you just dont know where yet. I believe in your luck
well... they make the process quicker, but because of their existence, there is more to learn
Oh got it
Thanks
I just learned html css and quite good at js so im just wondering if i Can get an online "job" ,freelance or smth to make money with it. or i should learn other stuff to be able to have a work online .
Im 17 btw
U can get a job if u do some uni task for student
For freelance u need more than html and css
And more than js with all frameworks
IS there a web that help me reach that ?
Where i Can find that opportunity
Idk. I've learned from uni
I can give u some advices of "must have"
Internet helps u
Yes please
But it's hard to find a safe web and safe payement cuz i tried and didin't got any result
Okay. U should start learning js. When u will get used to programming I advise u to learn about common algorithms like list, stack and dict/map. Then I recommend to learn OOP(u must make a project with it, it's important). Then I recommend to learn web development(HTTP, API, etc)
This would work in 2015, when the market was not stuffed with everyone. In 2024 its not gonna work, you will be competing with uni graduates holding CS degrees who are gonna have precedence over you, and some of them will be either knowledgeable about js frameworks, or they will be fullstacks who know both front and back at the same time. Youre not the best match for the companies for now
And I can miss smth important so don't use only this message like a main guide.
Oh, I forgot to say
Google it
Google everything
yes, pretty much
It's really important
anyway, as a 17 year old with no cs degree and no experience in frameworks, you stand no chances in current job market, for now. Go get CS degree and go learn frameworks, then companies will be more likely to want you
Now it is hard to get in IT without uni.
Thank u guys for Ur advices i appreciate that ❤️so for now i will just improve my knowledge untill i Can get match in a Work and make somthing with it . i just got a little bit excited that i learned a few languages so i i thought that i will get a work easily but it's hard actually . I will work harder
do your thing, hopefully it works. Having a degree in CS would be pretty nice
I will . Wish u Luck tho
Html and css aren't programming languages...
Structured query language. That's nice. That lets you select information from databases, doesn't it? It's there any particular implementation/brand that you are using in particular?
I'ol send you a formula to turn on the Belarusian speech gene. It's just factory set to off.
It's hard to know who your client is. There is a high chance they are just a 13 year old kid, or troll or both, or they actually require code, but you don't know enough about them or where they literally are located, to chase for the money they won't pay you when you hand over the code. (Code bombs you can deactivate after payment are good, but if they program also, they could find them , so you would be just a code monkey to them )
They only way to get a job with little experience, is if you walk into a small business with no ICT people, a company that almost does not use anything more than Word/excel , and you tell the owner you can build them a wonderful program especially for them, that will count their vegetables, or be useful to help customers select curtain colors etc. Then you need to have the ability to do everything to make it work on their computers. And you have to set the price/ or negotiate an ongoing rate if they like your initial product and want it modified to do more. Basically bespoke software for those that can't afford much, but could spend a little bit. The bigger benefit is not the small amount of money you receive, rather the experience to say i built a full system for company z, using whatever. And get references of how wonderful your work was to them
@empty rock

Pro 🥳
Just been reading 'computer science' theory and guff. So ready to get lost in theory and academic history and donations and concepts. I'm glad I'm not trying to do this all again . (Although i sort of am, as l try to keep up some inclination of knowledge as it applies today.
🤓
computer sicence?
which part?
algorithm and data structure ?
or programming language?
or maybe AI?
lol, i remember u hate AI.
I'm CS graduate but i'm not good in programming, any tips so that i can improve
CS is theory(or Knologe), do programming hand techniques(to use tools)
the languages are tool.
So, Get used to using the tools
what tools you will recommend?
that doesn't matter
the point is what are you intrest in
for instance game, web, Linux ...
There are languages that are specialized or advantageous for certain fields and are easy to access.
History and derivation of programming languages and REST
Download the language of choice on your machine and write little programs that are self contained for yourself. Develop a class library for basic I/O to support your domestic projects, that's a layer that means something to you as a set of common methods you would need to use to save to disk in or a db, or your screens.
If Windows, download visual studio. That handles many dev languages and environments, is well documents, supported and free for your needs.
It even works for linux
Yeah, i was thinking it actually felt like 36.4 rather than 36.5
lol
i wonder how they calculate "feels like" if it's in the hardware, it will be experiencing internal component heat
the "feels like" depends on several factors such as actual temperature, wind speed, humidity, sunlight ...
that's all the magic
All I know is, my body said, yes, I concur with the finding.
Imo, Humidity is the point
hello @obsidian flicker
