Whilst Windows says it defragmented disks automatically, it's always good to try a defrag tool other than theirs. I found mine was still all over the place. Also if you only have 2 partitions or 3 then it's not worth rebuilding the disk. Have a read about the swap space allocation. That can help. That is always with seeing up on a separate partition at the start and ensuring all the free space is contiguous . But if you are using an SSD, then it's all not important, as there is no head to clunk from one part of the disk to another and the r/ws are all pretty much the same.
Most of your performance lots is windows updates and background virus checks, and tsr from every program you ever installed. etc.

Oh and if you are going to rebuild your disk, you really need to back up your disk first. That generally means buying a new disk, but they're usually 10x the size of anything you have already and extremely cheap. So you may as well just set up any partitions on a new disk and copy everything and then just replace the disk.

Oh and forget about a data partition and a Windows os partition, as all the dump install programs these days put do much crap in the share space if Windows that it fills up and you are no better off. A single partition is prob the best these days (apart from swap)

Well after 6 hours of trying to do a hello world in Visual C++, and getting nowhere, as the crappy visual studio doesn't actually work in producing visual anything if its C++, I found a video on yt, that explained the work arounds and I got it working finally with a form and a button. 7 Hours to get a forn to graphically display. VS prior to 2018 worked, then they stuffed it up and its been bad since. Luckily a couple of bugs that had to be circumvented in the video are now fixed in the updates. So something is progressing.

Its like a peppermint chocolate. C++ is the peppermint. Its good and tasty. But to get to it, you have to break through the hard crust of chocolate. That is the programming environment and all the barriers that the makers of the OS and compilers and dev tools put in front of you, including the hundreds of lines of start up code in the templates that need to be hacked through, just to get your first and only necessary line: 'this->txtOne->Text = "Hello World from Peo";' (The peppermint)
