Hi,

#

I'm looking for my fist job as a programmer. It's not that easy because i learnt by myself and I didn't went to University

#

So I'm learning English to increase my opportunities

warm oasis
#

so what generally you can do as a programmer?

forest plinth
#

I'm able to create websites and web apps

#

The full process. From backend to frontend

#

Some of the languages in which I have more confidence are JavaScript, React, Java

Java with Spring Boot framework

And I want to learn Node, I saw that is demanded a lot

What about you?

In Argentina we speak spanish

A bit different from Spain spanish

and different from the other south american countries

#

but we can understand each other

shy glade
forest plinth
#

I mean a person from Colombia cand understand a person from Argentina or from Spain, for example

forest plinth
#

But we have different accents and slangs

shy glade
#

I mean hongkongers doesn't understand official chinese

forest plinth
#

ah

#

How many chinese variations there are?

shy glade
#

I am not sure

forest plinth
#

Ok, no problem

#

I will google it

#

I like this server, but I am to shy to join voice rooms

shy glade
#

why?

forest plinth
#

I feel that I don't know enough english to speak with fluency

#

And I want to improve my accent

shy glade
#

That's not problem, there is a number of people who are not good at accent and pronunciation here

#

But they don't hesitate to join voice chat.

forest plinth
#

Ok, I will try later

#

the only way to learn is making mistakes

shy glade
#

I am sorry. I will be back soon

have you tried npm install or npm i? to update or install the node modules

I typednpm run dev -- --host 127.0.0.1

#

I still can't understand

#

sometimes npm run dev works simply

#

but sometimes it doesn't work

forest plinth
#

if you check the 'package.json' file, there is a section that says 'scripts' and you can define different termina commands. Maybe there is some sort of problem in the configuration

shy glade
#

I know what package.json does

#

What programing language do you interest in?

I have used a large number of languages over my career. I do not program as part of my current role. I do however want to refresh my c/c++ skills and visual basic. I have some old programs i would like to update and use. I would also like to be try and get to know some thing current liked rust.

#

I do not do web development. I prefer stand alone applications ( that may communicate over network if required)

zealous comet

Tell me about old programs you would like to update.

I also prefer application

If you want to make it happen, I can help you.

I have a flash card program i write long ago. But at the time it did not recognize unicode characters, do i cannot put languages in that do not use abcdefg... Alphabet such as Chinese, cyrillic, Arabic, Japanese, thai etc. Need to upgrade the code with correct libraries.

No

At least Windows

zealous comet

I prefer applications, but I am also currently writing web programs.

pure copper
#

That is good.

#

What is the disc size footprint of a stand alone simple application these days?

#

Install size all components necessary?

#

1,5,10gb? Something like that i guess. Or 500mb for an android app?

zealous comet
#

In my case, it is less than 5G

pure copper
#

Gbyte?

zealous comet
#

yeah

pure copper
#

Imaging coding that much in machine language

#

200 years+

#

Too much library bloat these days

zealous comet
#

of course

#

And I don't use machine language.

#

In case AI application with python,

pure copper
#

The last full stand alone marketed application i ever wrote was a farm management system. All components including the database runtime packages came to 27mb, and i thought that was huge. 18 years ago. Still hold the copyright, still being sold almost unmodified by current guy that bought my source code.

#

Can't tell name, or i will dox me

The programs I write are not in those areas, but rather calculations, predictions, drawing shapes, etc.

When looking for work. Job agents advertise for companies needing particular skills/languages. The secret to beating the 10000 applications vetted by AI, is to contact the agent directly by telephone. Do not refer to the advertisement. Simply say, you are a 'whatever programmer/skillset'. Then say you are currently available for work. The agent will read your resume, as they wish to get people into work, as each person they place will earn them money. The agent will ofc know they have a company looking for someone with your skills, so they will put you at the top of the list and push you, as they have a actually spoken with you directly.

Is it JavaScript the best programming language to Web Development? I heard it does help a lot with Full Stack development.

narrow adder
#

I personally use mostly java in the back-end with angular in the front-end.
My team usually goes for microservices so, Java with Spring Boot or Quarkus.

#

The good thing about this approach is that you're free to consume the microservices by ANYTHING in the front. So u can have a web made in Angular, mobile made in ionic and both consumes the same services.

#

So, if you're a beginner and have interests in microservices arch, i recommend you studying:

  • API Rest
  • Multiservices arch
  • loadbalance with nginx, traefik or spring gateway
  • service discovery
  • synchronous and asynchronous communication
  • messaging with RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.
  • docker and containers in general

sage stratus
pure copper

Engineering is not a requirement for many places. The term software engineer has been around for 60+ years, and while some may like to say it's only for engineers, it's for any computer qualifications, as long as you know you're products. I've held software engineer roles as a comp sci background.

Basically on my experience the term is used more in tech /electronic firms where you would use stand alone applications development, compared to analyst/programmer that may work on commerce systems/databases/web work.

sage stratus
#

You are not System Administrator now right?

pure copper

queen urchin
#

but you know

#

RHCSA is a more basic level certification that validates your ability to perform the code system administration tasks

#

required in red hat enterprise linux environments

#

hm

#

to answer your question

#

you don't need to complete RHCE to work as a system administrator

#

many system administrator jobs require only RHCSA or a similar level of knowledge

#

but maybe

#

to get higher pay it can make you more competitive for higher level positions

#

in addition

#

practical experience is often just as important

#

if not more so. than certifications

#

just practice more and gain experience working with linux systems

in a real-world environment

this can greatly increase your chances of finding a job

Hello,
I have one quiz for developers who like to challenge the new tech, here.

A block is a word consisting of one type of letter. For example, aaaa and xx are blocks and bbbcc (two different letters) and xyz (three different letters) are not.

A string S consisting of N small letters from the English alphabet is given. We want to delete as few letters as possible from S to obtain a word composed of at most three blocks.

Write a function

class Solution { public int solution(String S); }

that, given a string S, returns the length of the longest word composed of at most three blocks, obtained by deleting some letters from S.

Examples:

1. Given S = "aabacbba", the function should return 6. After deleting letters 2 and 7 (counting from 0), we get "aaacbb" (composed of three blocks: "aaa|c|bb"). We can also obtain other solutions with six letters: "aaa|bb|a" and "aa|bbb|a".

2. Given S = "aabxbaba", the function should return 6. After deleting 'x' and the last 'b', we get "aabbaa" (composed of three blocks: "aa|bb|aa"). We can also obtain another solution with six letters: "aa|bbb|a".

3. Given S = "xxxyxxyyyxyyy", the function should return 11. After deleting the first 'y' and the last 'x', we get "xxxxxyyyyyy" (composed of two blocks: "xxxxx|yyyyyy"). It is the only solution in this case.

4. Given S = "atheaxbtheb", the function should return 5. The only solution is "aa|x|bb".

Write an efficient algorithm for the following assumptions:

N is an integer within the range [3..200,000];
string S is made only of lowercase letters (a−z).

# shy glade what do you mean? I faced this quiz at a code challenge.

It requires dynamic programming. Using recursion to find all the possible ways subjected to the constraints of maximizing the length of the string and limiting it to at most three blocks.

So basically recursion will give you the whole power set, and you pick the optimal ones.
For example, take 'abxbc' string. Find P({a,b,x,b,c}) which have 2⁵ = 32 elements in the power set. I won't write it all down because it's quite big but I'll pick the ones that interest us so {a,b,b,c}. It also fulfills our constraints. You have the answer!

You need to understand a little bit about what a computer does in its hardware, to understand what you are doing when you use a programming language. In a Nutshell (I think a recent Idiom) a computer takes input, does some calculations or manipulation and then provides some output. Your first program will make your computer provide some output. That is type something on a screen. next you will learn how to input information. This is usually by typing some words or numbers into the program using the keyboard. Finally you will learn of all the functions you can use to change the input data and change it and show it on the screen or print it as output.

There are input devices like , keyboard, mouse, tablets, buttons, cameras, microphones, network information, storage devices. There are output devices like screen, printer, earphones, storage devices, the network.

There are lots of languages and most languages have well established libraries of code that has been written over scores of years, that will do most of the things you would like to do. The basic coding you will do with your chosen language will connect the input to the output devices and use the multitudes of function to change the input to your required output.

#

I design systems and processes. Programming for the codefolk

somber bramble
#

really?

pure copper
#

Given up coding

somber bramble
#

why?

pure copper
#

One can say print a receipt, and i can use that as a design statement. It works wherever i go. If i say printf('receipt'), then i can only work in organizations that understand that statement. That is, every company uses different technology and tech comes and goes. But the process is still there regardless of the tech/language. I only need to know how to write documentation that is generic and i get paid. I can go to any org regardless of their tech.

#

I'm also familiar with how computers operate and that's generic. It helps to provide info to the tech people. I act as an interface between end users and tech folk.

You should be able to get a good starting job with the Bachelors on its own. Try and stay away from support as its not going to let you shine in the varied fields of computing. If software engineering is on your to do goals list, aim for that right away. Apply for the programming work and start developing. You can move up the dev, analyst, sys anayst, bus analyst chain of work, all giving you more exposure to larger scales of system development.

pure copper
# shy glade Hello as a beginner in programming and software I don't know what to do

Think of some little things you would like your computer to do for you and start programming for yourself to build your skills. If you cant think of something, think of something that already exists and try and replicate that with your own abilities. It doesn't have to be as fully functional or even as nice looking. It could be as simple as a basic text editor or a tic-tac-toe game, or a little database of friends/contact book. Don't think it has to be big or complex. Little programs are just as fun to create when starting.

pure copper
# hidden niche Yeah, I'd like to receive help. I've decided to move to another country, so I'm ...

Every counrty, and every city and every business will have a different platform. It doesnt matter where you go. There will be c# sites everywhere. You dont need to move, just look where you are. There are ofc places where there are big coding hubs, such as India. If you want to get into a big business turning out code head to that region of the world. Don't look for computing companies, rather look for big industries, mining, banks, defence, manufacturing. That is where the jobs really are, but even small companies need developers so don't exclude them from your search and job applications.

what is a backlog?

shy glade
#

A failed subject

pure copper

things yo have to do again?

Yes

#

Have to study once again and clear those backlogs

pure copper
#

what is the length of a subject in time, and typically how many subjects does a student do concurrently in a period of time?

shy glade
pure copper
#

So you have failed everything in first year 2 times over?

#

or failed 2 years of subjects?

#

bad maths

#

2 years

shy glade
#

No I failed subjects in each semester of academic year

pure copper
#

but 25 subjects failed?

shy glade
#

I failed from 3rd semester to 7th semester it's totally 25 subjects

#

Including my Laboratory subjects

pure copper
#

but you have completed most of them now I assume

shy glade
#

No I have 25 active backlogs including regular subjects

pure copper
#

that sounds expensive. Units here are abot $2000 each. That would be $50000 for the first run lost and another $50000 to redo them

shy glade
shy glade
#

I'm currently studying Bachelor's in Computer science.

pure copper
#

How much are unit costs there?

shy glade

Not unit but per semester around 2000 rupees

#

In India

pure copper

That's a couple of lunches here

I know that your country is so expensive compared to our country

pure copper

How much is a litre of coca cola there?

How much is there?

pure copper

so 1000 colas / unit here and 100 cola / semester there

shy glade
pure copper

pure copper

C++, Java, Python and Web application development

HTML,CSS and JavaScript

And much more

shy glade
pure copper

and the lab assignments. Wha did you have to create?
