I didnt enjoy bunny girl senpai at all LOL
idiot...
For me it was like monogatari but without the things that make it fun
I watched monogatari but it has too many puns to watch with english subtitles
So I'll watch it when I know Japanese
I mean most of them are localized pretty well
There are some that are jp exclusive tho for sure
in that case my English was not good enough at the time
I first watched in EN and then read LNs in JP
Yeah I'm not doing that
I need to really like the anime to rewatch or reread
Like bocchi the rock
dam i never read bocchi
it's called Puberty Syndrome and no it's not realistic at all
you just have futaba making vaguely related scientific statements
you're looking too deep into things
you enjoy explanation yapping which isn't present for the plot of classroom of the elite's setting
iirc they just explain how it is but not how it works
Ye not gonna lie
Futaba best girl
also this should probably have gone in #📺︱animanga
Maybe I should've talked in Yappanese
also idk what you mean by that entire 2nd paragraph
the mc goes over why D class is getting bullied, iirc
and as for the adults being irresponsible, wdym lmao
Idk I watched like 2 episodes
also obviously this is to filter out the idiots who don't read their contracts or even look into how their student income works
what's weirder is how no one in the class noticed
not that they were let free
they're supposed to be "elite", but ig that's why they're D class
Mc probably noticed but didn't tell anyone

yeah
except for mc
anyway, your points aren't the big plot holes you're making them out to be imo
if you didn't enjoy it that's alright, don't need to watch the rest
i think the anime was nice and i'll eventually get to watching s2-3 but i don't think it was a masterpiece or anything
No I'm watching because flx likes the light novel
@full mauve I blame you for this
i think he said the LN is better than the anime :o
Also I want to watch princess connect
Idk what it's about but it has voice actresses that I know I think
So I should read the ln
i have it in plan to watch
i don't read ln
so i wouldn't, but if you're up for it go for it
No, reading in Japanese pains me
flx probably read in english
i mean he has read some VNs in english so i'm just guessing
Wouldn't you read stuff because it's not realistic lol
裏切り者
This means "back cutting person"
...backstabber huh
Believable != Realistic
I just don't find it believable personally
I read in en till like year 2 and then japanese all the way
Flx is your pfp hoshino ruby
idk, you say that but then listed points that you just misunderstood
jp is better quality wise but its not a big difference
Therell always be smth lost in translation
Nah
That's it I'm learning korean so that lux can't correct my takes on things
マリンちゃんだよ
other than the "how does the gov fund this" everything else you listed had a decent reasoning
I just use the tactic of
The 'dont look too hard into that it's just fiction'
Fr fiction is fiction for a reason
There is realistic stuff
But dont go into fiction expecting reality imo
It shouldnt have too big plot holes yes but its not reality
Thats why i said go read 実用書 lol there are actually really good ones btw
i don't correct your takes or opinions, if you don't enjoy it that's completely fine
No one understands me
you don't need an excuse to not enjoy smth :o
How will I get upvotes otherwise

I didnt enjoy bunny girl senpai for example and I stand by that LOL
no matter if ppl hate me or not
clearly outrageous
I still love you
Also FMAB has a rating of 1 on my animelist
Let's kiss
You're just confusing lol
えー
What's fnab
Five nights at besties
@abstract mist best girl in bunny girl senpai?
Fullmetal alchemist
ohhhh koga
Shouko
Yee
I enjoyed the movie kinda
🔥
Was one of the first movies i watched in full jp
||Time travel|| girl
(no en sub*)
wao
I usually dont enjoy movies cuz theyre too short but there are some exceptions
Like drawing closer (余命一年..) is actually a perfect adaptation if ive ever seen one
I want to eat your pancreas?
Didn't watch yet
i agree
ig a shorter format allows them to add more detail to stuff
but i don't think it's worth sacrificing the pacing
Shinkai Makoto anyone
🔥 movie, very drama
soon™️
its a nice movie ye
🔥
感動系ならそっちが大好き
oh and i finalized my Japan itinerary
Im gonna stay in like
Yokohama
Kagoshima
Fukuoka
Hiroshima
Fukuyama
Takamatsu
Haneda
I wanted to do more but i dont want to be stressed either
Only 北海道 and 沖縄 left to visit after that
i don't like SRS :(
ig if i was dedicated enough to study every single day without failure, then maybe
but i'm not

Happy New Year everybody!
@full mauve Nijika is so skilled at voice acting
insaaaen
the ginpatsu is Nijika btw
Who needs sub anyway wtf
In slice of life animes you can watch no sub ez
Except for cooking terms
@dusky carbon do you know cooking terms
@full mauve この子が守りたい
-+
that black guy among the yakuza is just hilarious every time he appears omg 😭
nope
i bet u know some like 餃子、拉麺 etc
Like half of jp cuisine is just chinese
but like japanized
I hate her😭
I think i actually like horikita the most
Her hair too good
oh i thought cooking terms as in like preparation instructions that you'd find in a recipe
ohh
I think she cute + she's an idol
Although I don't know her for as long as you do, so maybe my opinion will change
Idk maybe I'm a predator for wanting a girl who has trauma like her 💀
I want to pay for her therapy
Maybe
She's so cute though!!!
@full mauve I don't get if this is satire or serious
I swear to got, the black dude yakuza is too hilarious. There's also a bald ossan in the school too. Bros look 40
I wouldn't be surprised
the getting your umbrella stolen thing
the curse sticker printing machine kinda goofy concept tho it's funny
Japan is so superstitious
I would go out of my way to pick those over the unlabeled ones
i wouldn't be surprised
@full mauve please explain
when two words are combined into one word, the 2nd word often has a dakuten on the first mora. But at times it doesn't??? Like how does that work
出口 ー> でぐち
逃げ口 ー>にげくち
based on this sample size of 2, my guess is that it depends on whether the 1st word ends on a hiragana
yes but still its not 100%
sorry mr flx I don't like classroom of the elite the anime
It feels like it's parodying itself, with legit old people in the yakuza class, and all of this serious vibe it tries to have, but it ends up being just funny to me
how are you supposed to take an anime seriously when a 16 year old in it looks like this
JoJo's is different ofc because it's consistent in how its 16 year olds look like, and it is a 1980s shonen
this guy is a 16 yo as well
ok so apparently this guy just has male pattern baldness at 16, my apologies. Not how I looked like when I was bald at 16, but I guess he just has a mature face. Unlucky combo
u were bald with 16 ??
or u mean balding
I didnt know ure a ハゲ同士w
also about the 16yo 件: imo they look a bit old ye but personally i had friends in school that looked very old at 16 as well already
Like they were jacked 190cm and also had a beard at 16💀
Its rare but not like impossible imo
I got a buzz cut
(is it called a buzz cut when you get bald?)
I didn't like the look but uh
In Russian both are just bald
I have my hair still, and there's a 50% chance I have good genetics because my dad isn't balding at 55
And my grandfather still had hair at like 80, although you could see it was starting from his forehead
Do you have a forehead then
Ehh you'll be okay
no dude I'm not 80 I'm 21
Lux is 80
my family has bald genes 💀
Bro's cooked
bald is kakkoii
this you
ive signed up to gym again so ill try to at least become 細マッチョ till february
hell na
Doesn't this dude have every job
It is that guy
its him
the legend
himself
i dont wanna be that jacked tho
i think it looks L
細マッチョ is my ideal

Oh yeah I had a dream where I carried an actual katana around because I was a weaboo in 8th grade
And its saya also was masked as an umbrella
おつかれー
It is time to become fluent in the nihongo
yes 😎
I think I'm at a point where I can watch anime without subtitles and understand around 60% of it which isn't bad, without even really studying japanese
just from the pure amount of anime I've watched lol
problem is understand it is great and all but I need to be able to speak it
well I want to
lol
u mustve watched a ton of anime then
imo u learn to speak just by immersion as well tho
not like perfectly but u get the foundation u need to learn to speak
I've seen like 1.1k anime
yeah I mean that's how kids learn and shit, that's kind of the level I'm at now
where like I know enough basic vocabulary to string a sentence together but not much else, so I'm at like a 2 year olds level lol
but it's definitely a good base and will help a lot to learn
same

yeah... we don't talk about it... it may or may not be a lot more days than that even
"days" in this case means total amount of hours watched, unless you mean you've watched anime with hundreds of episodes in them
💀
yeah that's what I mean
like I've seen over 1000 episodes of one piece, that probably adds a lot
for example
and other shounen

@full mauve if quotes are called a dakuten then what's the round thing called
handakuten
In Japanese, "hankoku" mean Korea
ohh lmao
And in Mongolia, as well as a few other countries, several centuries ago, the ruler of the country was a khan
I thought korea is kankoku no?
uh no
半濁点
濁点
半
It does yeah, I checked with yomitan
honestly grammar terms r overrated anyways
i had no idea what 代名詞 etc was until recently 🤣
dakuten = little ticks
handakuten = little circle

no need for terms when you can just call them that
Nyooooo its 'tenten'

how words are adverbs ig
Yeah its kinda different in english, like, you know, 'how, which way' and 'how, which appearance', which way here would be an adverb
We are only using 'как'='how' (どうやって) about adverbs in russian and 'какой'~'how' (どの) about advective. Kinda untranslatable to english lol so you're probably right
yeah new penguin

@quartz stream dunno if you plan on using anki but this is a tutorial on how to set it up, he just posted this video
No thx I'll use luodingo instead
dingus
tyty
duolingo isn't bad it's just a bit shit if you don't got their premium or whatever it's called
and annoyingly mine is like bugged on my phone app right now
it's forcing me to do a kanji lesson and it makes me write it but for some reason it refuses to accept me
like I'm writing it right but it's just like no
and so now I just can't use the app annoyingly, the web site is fine though
oh nvm I fugred out why
I was writing this part of watashi in 3 parts when it wants you to do the L shape in one not two strokes
fuck kanji
all my homies hate kanji
I'll become fluent at japanese without learning one kanji out of spite
I'm sure it's possible
although duolingo is literally forcing me to learn kanji this is torture
learning kanji will make reading a million times easier imo, but if you wanna skip that then go for it, just like you can learn to speak without learning how to write
I'll learn hiragana so I can read like children books and call it out that tbh
I will learn kanji at some point though, when I'm at a decent level
it just feels worthless right now to cram my head with kanji I don't even know how to use
not worth it imo
learn the kanji for depression, with its 29 strokes it'll give you depression
EW
aint no way nobody remembers that
at least how to write it
its definitely distinctive reading it lol
(dw this kanji isn't used, they just write it with kana, うつ, still funny tho
)
fairs
kanji spooky
idk I probably will learn it eventually definitely not worth learning in the beginning though imo
you're cramming your head with useless information at that point
many of the words you learn in the beginning are written in kana anyway, and some of those that aren't have more advanced kanji that are learned further on
tho some are very obviously learned with their kanji, like 私 which you just screenshotted, it's probably one of the most common kanji you'll find
yup, kana refers to both
fair
or more like, the characters are called kana
and each kana is a "syllable", but in japanese they use the term "mora", cuz it's not exactly a syllable
but meh no need to learn terminology
fair enough
I've learned already today
I used to think that too, but I changed my mind. Looking at it from an outside perspective, ignorance shouldn't be something you're proud of, in my opinion
besides, just typing words on your phone you'll get suggestions for kanji anyway, you'll get exposed to them enough
(as long as you aren't accidentally using the wrong kanji
)
Yeah I agree
I use the wrong kanji every time though
Also voice typing exists. To some degree

Did you know you can pair anki with jidoujisho/yomitan? And then synchronize the databases between your phone and PC over the local network?
same word, same pronunciation, different kanji, slightly different meanings
yeee
there's a button to quickly make a card and add it to a deck
i'm beginner tho, so i just use premade decks for now
I'm gonna do without Anki, as I've been told I don't need it by a friend who got really good at Japanese by chatting with tetris people
Let the pattern matching thing in my brain figure it out
@full mauve what are your thoughts on refold
anki isn't supposed to be a primary learning tool
it's a secondary tool, you should still do most of your learning through immersion
anki gives you the dots, you then use your primary learning material to connect the dots

still sad i bought puyo puyo tetris right before they released puyo puyo tetris 2
smh
its not that bad
its just many kanji combined
u see 缶 木 ヒ ..
午
u can kinda break down kanji like that often times
especially the big ones
whats that
and then each kanji into radicals, if you wanna go that far

the thing that's like learning languages through immersion or something
doesnt look bad
but for jp moeway looks way better
refold seems like they arent focused on anything in specific and give general advice
nihongo jozu desu ne
Just encountered the strangest looking kanji Ive seen so far
〆
Don't think theres any radicals in it
(seen it used as 締め切り but like 〆切)
Сахар
По-моему такой ютубер был
日本語上手ですね!
for some reason my deck has 週 (week) listed as N3 but 先週、今週、来週、毎週 (last week, this week, next week, every week) listed as N5

how do I say "you" without being rude
in casual and polite speech
I've read somewhere that あなた is rude, but like other sources say it's not
also I said お前 to flx today which I apologize ofr
in what context?
fuck, there's context to things
maybe I should give up on japanese
ye I'll just omit it
or say the name of the person
for example, あなた is perfectly acceptable in forms where you're asking someone to write somethinf down
but ye, what flx said, you just don't say "you"

何をするのですか!!!!
好きです
omg I know all the kanji in this text
I could read it
😭

what about this
real japanese test
if u cant read this ur no nihonjin

osu!
unrelated to above but there's so many words where i'm like "how tf do i know this word already?"
fun fact
the word "oshi" comes from this
so, oshi no ko
or your oshi vtuber

it's all connected, now we need more holomems to play osu
Wtf
I thought oshi comes from push
But its not even related in any way, what do they push?
Продвигать
I agree
More like
that's a lot of mogus
Also inaccurate, everyone knows it evolved into 月
pinyin: amogussy 😭

@full mauvewha's a かわいらしい
I heard it a long time ago but only now I'm questioning why there's a らしい
IIRC the full sentence was もし、可愛らしい女性がいたら。。。
"if there was a woman who looked cute"?
Makes no sense to me
Is Okinawa the Ohio of Japan?
rashii is just "ish" or "like"
maybe
Isn't it "ish" = っぽい and "like" = みたい?
らしい is "it looks/sounds like".
no
they have way morea meanings
only ppoi doesnt have multiple meanings in en
ですよねぇ
エビ揉め is an awesome trend
Feels like my last braincell is evaporating
found this
https://jpdb.io/
dictionary + yomichan + example sentences (voiced) + difficulty lists for anime/vn/etc. + anki-style learning
Is it proprietary
i don't see source code listed anywhere so i suppose yea, https://jpdb.io/about
the difficulty lists are cool tho
https://jpdb.io/visual-novel-difficulty-list it shows the amount of unique words/kanji and other stats for each VN
Nvm it's not an extension
yea it's just a web app
I don't mind proprietary web apps much because they're contained and have limited permissions
oh you did

didn't see it at the time
https://youtu.be/yfhQBwlcI5I also found this video if anyone finds it interesting
I've seen many people who want to read visual novels in Japanese but are afraid it'll take too much and time and grinding to get to a good spot. This video will show the bare minimum to read visual novels in Japanese. You will be far from fluent, but you will know enough to at least get by through lots of word lookups.
In short, this video will...
tldr: learn kana + essential grammar + learning tools, then choose a beginner VN to just dive in head first (he clarifies it's not an optimal way, just a quick way)
yuzusoft thumbnail so it must be true
there is no real optimal way to study a language anyways id argue
there is just too many variables
the vid is a bit outdated tho
lunahooker is the best texthooker on the market now id say, also yomitan has integrated frequency sorting function etc now which makes it a lot better than old yomichan
when i "finish" korean ill maybe start making language learning videos too lmao i enjoy yapping about language learning way too much
oh lmao i've used textractor and yomichan which ig were popular back then
i mean im not saying textractor is bad
but ive had some vns where its just low key impossible to find a hook (looking at you unity made games) and luna hooker just has 0 problem with them
maybe luna hooker even works with steins gate idk
also wtf is this thumbnail💀
lmfao they want to share that message at the very least even if people end up not clicking on the video
XD
the japanese learning community is low key weird
never seen a language community so competitive and toxic
well maybe its cuz we are on discord
irl learning groups tend to be chill
cuz they're mostly online anime fans, and online anime fans are used to arguing

true that
very true
ive rarely met anybody online that studies japanese and isnt a fan of anime , irl ive met tons of ppl that barely even know what an anime is and study japanese
imma be real im a ネット廃人 as well tho so i cant complain
funny to have the two types interact
i started studying bcuz of eroge which is even more weird than anime for normal people to grasp 🤣
yea i had like a japanese irl meetup recently and tried to explain to like 30 year old people that didnt even know anime what an eroge was
shit was 🔥
for me it's def anime but i haven't been watching much anime lately
japanese culture/media is everywhere online tho so yea
turned out to be less cringe than expected tho they were way too wholesome
lmaoo
anime also played a major role for me i guess but ive also been slacking
only real japanese immersion i still do is read books which doesnt help my listening comprehension skills at all unfortunately
ill prolly still suck when i go to japan in february again rip
dam
japanese cashiers say "お袋をいりますか" at like mach 2 tho so it cant be helped
i'm 65% done with N5 vocab deck
have been slowing down cuz the review queue got so absurdly long
same
even in germany i cant understand ppl at all

i always get so embarrassed when i ask people to repeat themselves ||again||
better to take it slow and be consistent ig
i feel that
like asking once is ok
but asking AGAIN is crazy
i sometimes act like i understood them after not getting it the second time
but it gets real akward when it was a question they asked me 💀
fr
When people talk over airplane or car engine sounds, I can't hear them well
Recently there was a video on veritasium on how humans can filter out a specific voice out of a loud mishmash of lots of people's voices, like when on a party
I could never hear others in a party
I don't lack the skill entirely, but it's just weak

i'm 75% done with N5, getting close
ngl a lot of the words i still haven't memorized from N5 are just the different counters
https://youtu.be/o36tLK-qVMk dunno what this is but i found this
at 15:16 she covers yesterday from the beatles, pretty nice
指宿 based name LOL
@full mauve, you've reached level 59! ☄️
ill def visit 指宿 in feb
If someone asks me 怪我はないか? am I supposed to say はい to say "I'm not injured"?
could lead to confusion just like in english, maybe better to go with そう or ない instead of responding with yes/no
never heard そうin this context
I guess だいじょうぶ or ぶじ would work too
yea, negative questions are always weird xd
then u say daijoubu janaindakedo betsu ni byouin ni iku hitsuyou ga arimasen
dakara boku ni kisu wo shite kudasai
wtf flx romaji
UwU
😭
actually they're called romanji
because they come from roman letters
It’s time to learn Japanese.

I'm gonna post this masterpiece
I died of laughter
@quartz stream you didnt' see this because you weren't learning japanese at the time
I posted it before
NOT Kita
honestly the kanji kinda looks like her
in this exact pose
so true
BRO
DONT MOEWAY ME
u mustve looked at moeway general today
i think anki actually works guys
fuck
all my anki hate over the years was for nothing
well ok not nothing i proved my point at least

it's my first time picking up flashcards too
and SRS
i think i might use this even for uni tbh
seems really convenient
i need to find excel guide decks 💀
i capped at 10 new cards a day for now cuz i rlly dont want anki to be anything but an addition to my immersion tho for language learniing
No it's from the video I sent
The dog is clearly the expert in japanese and the guy doesn't know it apart from reading the script for the video/tv show they're making
and he says that it's called "romanji" in the video
and also tells the dog to shut the fuck up even though the dog is correct
please watch the video
it's hilarious
💀
I'm not in moeway server because I didnt' read moeway still
And iirc you need some level of japanese before you join anyway
u just need student to access general and book sharing
I might join
u can join at any level tho
my level is below n5 so maybe I should start learning first
imagine the embarassment I'll have when I don't know how to read
and everyone will know abouti t
no
maybe for kanji knowledge but u are for sure above n5 overall
did I even do anything
😳
we texted once too
I did poorly because I can't read
😭 I want to learn how to read
i can teach you
step 1
download eroge
step 2
profit
step 3
maybe do anki too
(optional)
this is hilarious
every time you mention eroge
I'm not saying that it's not valid
I just find it funny
I think ppl have a big 誤解 about eroge
there is eroge and nukige
nukige are just s*x games where u play to fp
what's the difference between
eroge on the other hand are only maybe max 5% s*x stuff
かんちがい and ごかい
the main point of most eroge isnt just to fp but to actually have a good story and usually u can just skip the s*x scenes with no loss
thats why most eroge that are good games have a miseinen steam version
eg hakuchuumu
i think both can mean the same depending on context
kanchigai is also a suru verb tho
kanchigai shinaide ne
how do you read kanjis with lots of strokes when they're SO SMALL on the screen
they are like pictures
憂鬱
i dont look at every stroke
i look at the full picture
to me this looks like gibberish. let's see if that changes
it will look like gibberish for now but if u anki for a week that will change
or immerse for a week
with eroge ofc
nah u can do LN or w/e
LN, youtube with subs, netflix with subs, anime with subs, web novels, 実用書 etcetc

i love stuff like this too sometimes
how do I enable and disable katakana mode
in windows IME
I keep accidentally turning it on
I don't even know the shortcut
i just f7
助けてください、カタカナモオドを切れない
すごいデショウ
If you right click this "A" or あ it lets you choose between katakana vs hiragana and the half/full width
ah this thing?
i use win+space to change keyboards and then alt+` like flx
alt+` doesn't switch to katakana mode
so WTF is the deal with my keyboard switching to katakana mode occasionally
it doesn't but autocomplete almost always has an option to convert whatever you typed into katakana
so it's not necessary
no idea
ik, but I accidentally turn it on, and I don't know the keybind to go back
i've never had that
well actually i used to but never had that on this pc
like maybe once or twice on old pcs but i don't think i ever knew what happened
same
maybe its ur keyboard
idk what key combination even does that
Pog
昨日の自分に渾身の右ストレートをお見舞いしてやりたい
this sentence took me 5 min to fully understand
i feel like n5
Is it normal that my inner monologue is in Japanese now... For the past year
ure too deep bro
nah jk might be a good sign idk
i dont have inner monologue in japanese most of the time
except when im actually talking to jp ppl
way too deep
こんやく is literally "promise to marry"
Bruh doulingo giving me an aneurysm trying to pronounce Brazil in a Japanese accent
lemme guess is it burajiru
brah-G-rue
close enough
😭
That voice note sounds a lot better than how I hear myself say it wtf

People like to shit on Duolingo but I think it’s quite fun tbh
Like it makes me want to learn Japanese, which I think is very important
You maybe can’t rely on it but it’s very good for getting into the habit
I’ve put the app on my phone where my TikTok used to be so whenever I go to procrastinate instead of clicking on TikTok I click on Duolingo from muscle memory
Gaming the system (me)
it's gamified learning
for sure
once thing I hear people saying about duolingo is that the sentences aren't always very realistic - however I don't think that's a probably as it you shouldn't just be memorizing sentences anyway, you should be memorizing different words and sentence structure
and formulating your own sentences
for example I've learned when you'd use "desu ka" and "desu" and "ni" and "wa"
so I can formulate my own sentences
using the vocab I've learned
that's my 10 day review at least
so far
Too ez boys
I find it weird how “Kirei” has a few different meanings, I always associated it to pretty from anime but it can also mean clean
I died
I'm going to get random sentences and try and break them apart into english
oh my god chatgpt is insane, I can use it to give me sentences to practice with
poggers

i recommend using an extension called yomitan :O it separates sentences into words you can look up
it's a glorified dictionary
and has example sentences too
ooo now that is very epic
so I guess it's good to read like light novels with huh
might be a fun excercise
i've used it to read VNs
there's programs that automatically extract the text from the game
and yomitan grabs it from your clipboard for super convenient dictionary lookups
You should learn about moras and the japanese rhythm
super old screenshot which i've shared before but yea, it nice
damn now that is cool
i wanna get back into it but i wanna at least have basic vocab knowledge, which is why i'm doing flashcards atm
that's fair
bro it's crazy how much basic vocab I know from anime
like now that I'm getting an understanding of sentence structure it's all really coming together

I mean you probably know more
but
I feel like I could already go to japan and like get aroun
like order in a restaurant, ask for directions etc
there's a lot you can do from phrases you hear commonly in anime
I thought anime japanese was a lot different from "real japanese" tbh
but it's not really that different
ig it really depends on what you watch
if you watch slice of life it's going to be at least somewhat accurate to reality
fair
yeah I've seen like everything
It’s probably because I’m still in the early stages but I’m really enjoying learning Japanese
as long as you aren't doing too much and burning out because of it you should be fine
yeah
i've burnt out a couple times before cuz i went too hard into it xd
so I've started doing duolingo until I run out of hearts and then from today I'm going to get random sentences from chatgpt, break down the vocabulary and structure and just have a massive bank of vocabulary in my book
and then I'll try write the hiragana for each word next to it
yeah I probably will although tbh I'm not going to go hard every day
just when I'm motivated
but I will at least do my daily duolingo
no matter what
are you using a jp keyboard on your phone
I am not
i recommend using the 12-key layout for japanese :o
I'm just taking notes in a physcial book lol
okok
I shall
old school style
ahh
ohhh, for duolingo there's cases where you have to manually type stuff so make sure to get a keyboard for it
or maybe it's later on but yea
I shall do
yeah probably will be
well
there are bits where you write and then it converts it to kanji
but you write in romaji
ahh ye, better just use a keyboard so you get used to it
the 12-key layout is so much fun to use imo
it's what jp people use on mobile pretty sure
I honestly think the best way to learn is to continuously do quizzes, such as duolingo in a way and just see how much you can do and then fill in the gaps and repeat
instead of learning aimlessly
seems to be much more efficient than when I tried to learn on my own with no really goal in mind
約 is more like "engagement" in this context id say lol
brazil is still ok imo but then theres like weird n or short shi stuff
執事
しつじ
for me the short shi into tsu took a month of practice to get right all the time LMAO
if you want the most efficient and fastest method of studying Japanese its literally just immersion + anki and using anki correctly
yeah fair
it sounds simple and boring but u can see its the truth if u go on moeway and see what crackheads there are
I mean like 90% of what I know basically is from immersion
Yeah but isn't it literally 婚 + 約
most of them do this for like 1 or 2 years and are n1+ lvl (literally vocab wise better than natives sometimes)
so I just do immersion, duolingo and will get into anki likely
yea but yaku has various meanings not just one
I can do this one I think, I never spoke any Japanese but I know Russian
yes but doing immersion and anki correctly is really important as well
fair
idk if I'm doing it correctly, but it I don't want to make anything too strict to the point I don't enjoy it
eg u shouldnt watch anime with english sub or do anki for more than ur immersion time per day
i mean there isnt a clear "u have to do this or that" either
just some dont dos
like I enjoy just watching anime without thinking too hard and doing duolingo and breaking apart the sentences on my own
think it works the best for me
…媚薬
if u enjoy it and it works thats cool yea
I exclusively watch anime with eng sub sorry mr flxible
u only have to follow the rules if you want to reach fluency as fast as possible
yeah
if u dont stress things and prefer fun you dont have to follow any of that
for me motivation and the want to learn is the most important aspect
over speed tbh
I usually do without sub or with japanese (romaji) subs
unless it's a complex story
i used to not do pitch and anki at all cuz it was no fun for me but now after like a few years my interests have changed and its become fun lmao
damn i genuinely think romaji is more difficult to read than japanese script
LOL
fair play
yeah
idk I need to learn the words before I learn the hiragana character for them so
tis what it is
i remember when i first found out about vn mining setup and locked myself in my room to play eroge for 8 hrs a day
good old times
try to do anki honestly maybe its perfect for you
髪を伸ばさせる薬…
I will give it a go
i heard a lot of ppl cant study kanji without anki so that is that
probably not today as I've studied a lot so need a break but I'll get to it
💀 もう忘れてくれ
ive been doing N1 grammar in anki for 2 days now and im almost at a point where i pass kotoba gn1 now lol
anki do be OP
I wonder how Japan kept its 100% literacy rate before anki was invented
thing is japanese ppl spend 4000hrs+ on their language
learners that use anki get to almost the same lvl in like 2000-3000hrs
Damn maybe I should use anki
do it
even if its just for grammar
my review takes like 20min a day but its so helpful
Linguistic terms
Oh it's like conjugations and particles
勉強するかたわらにバイトをする人だ
I don't remember my V3+ing from English class anymore
in jp u can learn grammar to n2 lvl ez through immersion
n1 no chance tho
n1 grammar is so rare that even jp ppl dont know it
I'll learn how to handwrite depression instead
ull get depression from that be careful
It clearly means "hate girl"
💀
(よくない)傾向がある is the answer btw
Liam already knows more kanji than me I bet
literally never used
i only learned to write like 2 kanji by hand during uni when i was bored
💀
so what's the best way to use anki, do I important some decks, or do I just write my own, for like different vocab?
u combine both
at the beginning just get premade decks tho
maybe go through all the jlpt sensei grammar decks they r good for bilingual ig
ppl hate on jlpt sensei too much
ah okay ty
How good do I need to be to start immersing
Immersing doesn't work right away, correct? I mean, it has to follow this N+1 rule
Are these kanji decks or vocab decks
these are like 2000 of the most common japanese words
thats why its called core
sorted by frequency
both
u learn to read the kanji at least
