ngl i feel really bad for korea it was basically just annexed back and forth by russia japan and china over thousands of years
LOL
then china said oh fuck we're too complicated and made simplified chinese while jp just oh ok cool whatever we dont wanna change
Probably Vietnam too
real
Who doesn't want extra coastline
Japanese really out here needing to know 3000 fucking characters meanwhile English only needs 26 coupled with some deciphering of nonsensical grammar
@full mauve no coastline?
senbonzakura a vocaloid song that is unfortunately about imperialism still being banned in korea explains a lot
japan was like: we conquered half of asia and let slaves fund our schools so we can learn complicated kanji get on my lvl china
yea but u need to memorize like a million weird ass grammar exceptions and ways to pronounce different words
and then after everything was over japan be like oh what war crimes we're friendly and cute now XD
like wtf is anenome or how u spell that i struggled with that for like a year
^
:3
we got anime guys hihihi
like 1 kanji paired with different stuff can have more than 2 ways of pronouncing it
and also we hate koreans and chinese now even though we were literally the bad guys 🤣
With those 26 letters German has like half a million words
Get on our level
nah ok nowadays young ppl like each other id say tho
malaysia ate up that kawaii shit so fast
just a lot of my jp friends have parents who hate koreans or chinese or both
Y'all mfs just make shit complicated for no reason
Schornsteinfegermeisterbetrieb
kanji hella useful tho
ew
I don't see it
so true
like after u know ur basic kanji it will help you learn new words
you can guess words uve never seen / heard
and also if you travel to any part of east asia you should be able to understand half of the signs
Japanese people try not to be xenophobic challenge (Impossible)
If you're white
ye true
u unlock basic chinese dlc too
okay not in korea anymore unless you're in a place that still uses old signboards
i helped a chinese guy at the airport with kanji
he came to me with his translator app which said "Exit window?" or smth and then I looked at the original chinese and it was "出口" and was like "OHH"
EXIT WINDOW 😭😭😭😭😭
one of the worst things in jp is just how different sentences are like no subject and all the weird politeness things imo
context moment
context based language frfr
Why does mo も start with the long stroke but mf よ doesn't?
"Do you want to eat as well?" = "食べる?" 💀
good question i never thought about stuff like stroke order ngl
welcome back to another episode of xapia realising she's been writing something wrong
xapia doesnt know best
xapia brain autopilot from chinese
xapia knows stroke order best on komimau i think
and xapia also realise she's been writing certain chinese characters wrong too
i got reality checked so hard that day we were discussing about も
So many characters all start with the side strokes first then mo comes out of mfing nowhere and completely destroys everything
xapia dont trust herself anymore
は too
i can write words, but i dont write them right
im sure you can do 一二三
i bet a lot of japanese also dont care
thats 3 kanji
My kana app cares
i learned 好 and 大 only 😭
but i guess i can kinda do 1 2 3 too yea
not correct stroke order tho
好 is pretty tricky for beginners kudos to you for that
i remember writing that as a kid, it looked horrible
anything with 女 in it
always looked horrible
I took one look at that thing and thought "What in the fuck is that?"
mhm
help i found the piece of paper where i had my existential crisis 💀
Kanji for in house
ちら
found out i wrote も wrong, then that guy linked a video to how chinese characters are written, found out i wrote 田 wrong
its not that bad
Depression kanji
ive seen worse
oh i also learned kirai ig
i dont even remember anymore
writing on tablet is kinda scuffed but at least u can erase comfortably
idk why but i found 願 low key rough
Oh lord
i just suck at writing but its w/e , i dont need it anyways LOL
You're a girl, you're supposed to write well
no
writing well takes a lot of effort
people just need to be barely able to read it
thats enough
havent written anything in a while in general
so its extra messy today
I tried
at some point in time we stop caring and it looks like cursive
looks pretty good for a beginner keep at it
^
Pretty hand writing
The app lux suggested be forcing me to learn handwriting
dang i just read ur essay again its so 懐かしい
i only learned how to do it cus i learned jp in school

What is that kanji pls
trust me there's worse
Oh I just wanted to know what it said
I just noticed how complicated that thing is
wait did i tell you that i ended up getting a topic in the actual exam that was really similar to this
Why does it turn into natsu when it's combined with those kana tf
no u didnt but thats pog
Noooo they hate me 😭
u got a good grade ?
i was so glad that i did ask you for feedback cus i applied it during the exam
ありがとうございました
You look white enough
kanj with hiragana --> onyomi
kanji by itself --> kun reading
sensei was happy cus we exceeded her expectations in terms of results
on yomi (on reading) is chinese inspired reading , kun is japanese
Does every kanji follow this?
流石にXapia先生
some only have 1 reading, most have both
おめでとう

a lot have like 5 on readings too
Did you even see how I look
like 生
and when i say both i mean on and kun
Should I face reveals
Why
lol i remember but if u say where ure from theyll prolly not hate u
there could be multiple on readings or multiple kun readings
^
Well they read kanji combinations, not individually
That's why they have so many
sorry its the other way around
kanji with other kanji = on
kanji with hiragana = kun
You dmd me
Wow
Ig
This is a crime
eg:
kun: 生まれる うまれる
on: 先生 せんせい
o i found my old jp notes my handwriting wasnt as bad as i thought
if you dont want more of this hell, stay away from chinese
cus we do that too
not every every kanji but like over 90%
I probably won't ever handwrite
Did you do Japanese in school?
ye, it was the only reason why i learned jp
like 初恋 is hatsukoi which is kun reading
I learned jp because I liked jojo's bizarre adventure
So like 9000 of them and like 2500 of the frequently used ones? 💀
it should be shoren (on reading) technically
i got thrown into the jp class cus you had to do well in school to be there. they didnt want people who couldnt handle the main subjects to take jp
since i was in that class, i just stayed there
Oh I thought you meant 90% had that many readings, referring to the ss you snet
Just read and don't think too much
do you still do anything japanese btw or are you quitW?
Sent
nono
lol
this tbh
ull learn all the combinaations through different words so dw
Got dumped with a hard ahh language because you were doing too well in school
we'll see how busy i am when i start college, cus if i have free time i probably will continue, i just dont know what to do now cus i no longer have a teacher to guide me
If you know any Japanese it's mostly predictable
yup
people were dying to get in that class, but werent allowed in cus they didnt meet the requirements
we learn 2 languages in school by default, so if you couldnt do well in either, you werent allowed in
jp is a hard language
and they make sure the opportunity is given only to those who can take it without failing their other subjects
ah ic i guess u can just purely immerse at ur stage and learn through that tbh
ure already like intermediate right
wot i thought u were way above n5 LOL
ure text made me think at least n4 ngl
ARE YOU FR 😭
i guess since u got chinese kanji knowledge u could pass n4 easily tho
when i was n5 i couldnt produce at all
yeah its grammar that im worried about mostly, i struggle with grammar in almost any language (except english cus thats my first language)
i wish i couldve done jp in school but was forced to take french ahh language
mood, it took lots and lots of practice for me to start shitting out essays
my grammar tip nr 1 in this day and age is chatgpt
i wrote at least 10 essays in the month leading up to my exams it was pretty hellish considering i was juggling my other subjects as well
ive been learning koraen grammar purely through chatgpt LOL
ok and krdict / naver ig
jmdict (yomitan) also has a lot of grammar entries
u can learn a ton of grammar through yomitan dics lmao
む be kinda fun to draw
like it will show u which conjugation a certain word is in and u can then look up what that form is saying as well
i should honestly take the time to brush up on cn and maybe continue jp
cus well
work opportunities ig
people who know jp here get hired at the speed of light and are paid well cus its more niche despite cn speakers still being in high demand
more languages can only benefit u fr
yep
HAHHAHA FR
i can only understand a bit without subs, cant go no subs entirely
me too
Ha is は , right?
i also struggle sometimes without subs still ngl
my listening is way worse than my reading in jp
yessirr
hohoho
my listening and reading are about the same because uh well,, chinese
even if its a word ive never encountered in jp
i can guess the meaning by context/reading the kanji/listening to the onyomi if used

CJK cheat moment
mhm, exactly that
also higher buffs for me cus the dialect my family speaks shares more pronunciation similarities with jp compared to mandarin/other dialects
hehehaha hacks 101
This time really Japanese lesson in Hokkien
think of the trick that @wise ember mentioned
i found it funny
me frfr
Don't you know Chinese
yes but that doesnt mean jp is easy
im so glad you've fully experienced the trio

id say chinese is actually harder than korean for japanese speakers tho
it will be my final boss after korean
im planning on needing 1 or 2 years for korean fluency and then ill tackle chinese for like 2-3 years hopefully
I think I don't have good genetics for language learning ngl
its a skill u can train
im noticing how im getting better with each language i practice
if you become fluent in chinese within 2-3 years ill consider myself a foreigner at that point /hj
I never really practiced, just immersed really
i was just rlly lucky cuz my mom is polish so i had to like understand english and polish in addition to german as a kid often times
i thought so too but apparently i understand quite a bit still
im suprised myself
i just cant speak really
i only understand what my mom and sis always talk about and answer in german
🤣
its pretty realistic if I keep up my language learning pace tbh
Pace is fake
yup, time to strip myself of my chinese heritage
I got to n1 in like 3 years too without any prior CJK knowledge so with Korean and JP mastery I should 100% be able to do it
How to speed up, mr japanesium?
More hours watching anime, I can get behind that

u gotta use jp subs only tho no english cheating
me when flx becomes fluent in cn
XDDDDDDDDDD
I can remember them now
I feel improvement in my Japanese
When I play ghost of Tsushima, I understand every dialogue of the NPCs. Except when it's a cutscene, then they switch from modern Japanese to edojidai Japanese
ethnicity bender
Man I had some of these right but my drawing was off a little so they didn't count
i can finally consider myself asian when I master CJK so im giving it my best
honestly idk why im even doing it
i only like korean cuz of kdrama but study like 3 hrs a day im just addicted to language studying at this point

ay thats awesome keep at it playing video games is ogod immersion too
i remember i wanted to replay elden ring in jp but i forgor
when the detection system gets a stroke wrong that you know is right, you can press on the little checkmark at the bottom left to tell the program it's the correct stroke
Wtf
???
Alot of the time it's because my drawing is too fucked up ngl
Wonky

flight ticket price aside, holiday in east asia would be a breeze for you
the locals will go crazy over you
yea im planning to visit more of ea after my japan trip next year
cant keep revisiting japan each year LOL
ill start with properly visiting korea i think and then china after that
This is my goal ngl, learn Japanese to a point where I can impress native mfs and converse with them properly
is that all of hiragana?
or not yet, how much are you missing still
pls eat more food on my behalf

natives will be crazy over u even if ure only like n4 n3 n2 so u wont need to study that long for that to happen
All of kana besides the ones with the circles on top, which is like 5
i was in japan when i was still n2 and had awesome conversations with locals
i need to go to korea one day cus food
I think I'll add them in now

ill be sure to send a lot of pics here when i go wwwwwwwwww
korean food hits different frfr
kimchi my beloved
i just love spicy stuff in general tbh
your spice tolerance is crazy good
ive been training 💀
From now I shall study all 71
you have better spice tolerance than a lot of people i know, and im asian 😭
i got fire ramyeon x2 spice and ate it until it didnt make me vommit anymore
i used to have 0 spice tolerance too lmao

YOU ATE THE 2X ONE?????
Is that the buldak one?

yeee
yup
the red buldak
That's one's pretty good
its my fav ramyeon
Hurts my mouth but worth it
hella unhealthy but w/e
the normal ones are low key not spicy to me anymyore
thats insane
i eat the normal fire sauce with like anything
i put it into like spaghetti
its awesome u should try it too
Crazy
ye we were thinking of buying it
How to enable Japanese
Bro I've heard some people find shin ramyun spicy
the sauce itself is better value than buying the ramyeon packs at least here in germany lol
i thought there was a jp ver???
there isnt?!?!?!
NOOOO
Clueless German shocks Malaysian people with perfect Ukrainian
when i was a kid i found shin ramyun spicy but havent tried it again recently
Idk I didn't play it
istg ill actually do vlogs next time in japan
i got like a dj action 3 now so im prepared
💀
shin ramyun is so good tho
YAYYY
fr shin ramyun is comfy food
はげブログ
also they sell it in like local supermarkets so its more acessible at least for me in germany
As a kid is understandable, I remember when I was a kid I tried the green packet of buldak, had like one to two forkfuls, immediately downed all the milk in the fridge then threw the rest in the bin lmfao
here they sell it everywhere but its always cheaper to buy online
we always buy noodles online, especially buldak
cus people like to overprice the shit out of it in supermarkets
no thanks, ill pay half of that
wwwwww

禿白人がペラペラな日本語で地元の方に話しかけたら。。
if its above 20 bucks i dont bother
vlog title
kinda same here
accurate
we have asia markets but theyre so overpriced
I wish
buying stuff from that section is never a good idea
so i always end up ordering online as well
💀 they're 11 dollars now
or i ask korean friends to bring me some but they dont visit germany often times rip
oh those are just the H kana but with a circle
Bro shin ramyun is on special I gotta stock up
I think they change the specials on Tuesdays though, that's tomorrow
ぽぴぽぴぽぽぴぽ

Ye
not us talking about shin ramyun in the jp channel
I didn't mean keigo there
Keigo is kinda useless (reffered to it as a overpolite)
I've meant common japanese (masu-form-related)
@wise ember, you've reached level 9! ☄️
bye chat imma go eat dinner now
masu is also keigo
丁寧語
Enjoy dinner!!
oh and 尊敬語、謙譲語 is 100% not useless if u ever plan on visiting japan
ull be talked to in 尊敬語、謙譲語 constantly so if u dont understand it ull have problems lol
I only meant that its not important to study 敬語 when you start learning Japanese right away cuz ull learn it later anyways
i definitely will, my parents got me とんかつ

send 写真
Perapera
it doesnt look really good cus we got it earlier today and are just reheating for dinner
LOL i see
hope it still tastes good tho
ye we've done it before, still tastes great
daradara
パコパコ
@full mauve I watched this anime that's a 12 episode ad for the Gifu prefecture, do you know of any other advertisement animes that are actually good?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Salad_Bowl_of_Eccentrics
Also I watched super cub
A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics (変人のサラダボウル, Henjin no Salad Bowl) is a Japanese light novel series written by Yomi Hirasaka and illustrated by Kantoku. The story takes place in Gifu, where Hirasaka comes from. It began publication in October 2021 under Shogakukan's Gagaga Bunko imprint. As of July 2024, seven volumes have been released. A manga adapt...
Before you ask yes I watched it for the loli
Inb4 聞えてねいし
Based
Hello
Yes she is very cute. Every girl is cute!
Also no she's not a romantic interest at all
She's actually his daughter/assistant
uh u mean 聞いてないし ?
looks cute
idk anything except shika noko maybe for nara ??
No it's supposed to sound rude
Like you being rude to me
yea but kikoeru is like to be able to hear
I've only been learning for like 3 days, I expected kana to be harder ngl
Shikanokonokonoko koshi tan tan???
yeS
Yes but doesn't ね make it sound aggressive

Thats what I said in a first paragraph
Most of the people (esp on the first foreign language) aren't that powerfull
Also natives will not hate you if you slip out of keigo
My point was about a completely different matter - that its just easier for them to undestand you when you're using simple 丁寧語 at the beginning so you have a chance for longer N+1 practice learning new stuff through conversetion
Japanese people are really kind, thats true, but I think its disrespect towards them when youre not trying to make them feel more comfortable in a conversation
so can you read the popup message at the bottom?
+1, children content is great
Tho not fairy tales, thats like 30+% legacy rarely-used vocabulary
Otsukaresama?
I still need more practice before being able to tell them all with full confidence
Haven't met a single xenophobic japanese so could be subjective

it means "good job!"/"good work"

desu
一匹、二匹…
Otsukaresama death
Have you been learning kanji specifically? (like, after already knowing words using those kanji, in parallel with learning words used with those kanji, just kanji meanings alone) which one?
Сахарехас
Посоветуй оняме
Does this affect real life? I mean I can only guess it matters when you look up the word in the dictionary with handwriting, stroke order matters for the successful search, are there any other applications?
Looks awesome
Despite being cursive all the kanji are distict and an shape is stable so its easy to get which kanji is it
Im envious
Shouldve been listed as common/uncommon usecases as some of those are only used in one single rare usecase
theres no way
chinese peeps start from n4
Just like russian people start from A2 in polish and B1 in ukranian
Why the chat is so long Im still getting through a backlog
Whats the difference between those 2?
Which one is better?
@abstract mist between korean and japanese, I've heard korean is much more difficult, is it?
Is it preference whether you pronounce the u sound in でつ?
I don't speak korean or japanese so I have no idea
Isnt language learning a thing that keeps all of us sane?
But this anime is actually good besides that
If -u sound is at the end you can skip it, but I feel like for some words you can't skip it
90% only heard it from japanese peeps as "good bye"
Ofc doesn't apply to う
||boku no piko||
actually try munou no nana if havent yet
same thing really, i'd say
I have...
happy sugar life?
Didn't watch yet
Is it like a dark anime about trauma and stuff
Try it (sensitive content warning)
Yeah I'm not watching that
Steins gate?
Worth rewatching
Worth rewatching
I avoid that kind of stuff, maybe because I helped my uncle kill a sheep once idk
Don't forget S2 after s1ep23
Steins gate 0?
Yeah
Not worth rewatching prob, doesn't even have Kurisu-chan in it and Okabe becomes an office worker or something
I avoid dark animes either, thats like the only exception as its not trying to be dark for the sake of being dark, just feels different, like, e.g. 'Higurashi no Naku Koro ni' just adds some sensitive shit for no reason, like this
But yeah, not for everyone
Maybe you know some stuff like steins gate?
I don't understand what you're asking rn
Didn't find steins gate dark at all
I was referring to a previous message about happy sugar life
@abstract mist overall maybe theres an anime you could recommend?
I'm watching makeine rn
Also guyz
Im looking for a first VN recommendation (to try out that kind of entertainment)
Gonna try
Looks familiar
I looked google pics lol
All the pics look familiar
no but it just came as a shock lol
my school syllabus does not take that into account
its for everyone to learn at an equal pace
not just for chinese speakers
idk what u replied to it says msg doesnt load hm
same, some replies arent loading for me either
i think its just a discord thing
fr
idk why teineigo is easier to understand than tameguchi ? it makes no difference to a native afaik
ofc you should try to be as respectful as possible - just putting in effort into speaking a few words japanese is already HUGE tho compared to 90% of tourists who only speak english, theyll appreciate u even if u only say arigatou literally
only been learning kanji through learning vocab
jisho usually lists uncommon reading on the left side, its just not on the screenshot i sent
most of them are just word specific readings tho and not "uncommon" like 生まれる 生かす 生やす etc u can tell the reading by the word and theyre always read the same
krdict, naver, jmdict are all dictionaries usable through yomitan
krdict and naver are for korean and jmdict is for japanese
i recommend jmdict (english) and if you want a full dictionary folder thats stacked with monolingual, pitch etc i got a link for you
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1F5jialEbqOPV0FoN_G4hETRgjTwYdTNu/view?usp=drive_link (my dictionary folder)
id say korean is not harder than Japanese personally its just different
Discord being discord
korean has more difficulty with the aspirated vs unaspirated sounds and vocalized vs unvocalized and japanese has kanji and pitch accent
grammar wise korean and japanese are 90% the same so if u learn one the other one is basically free, vocab wise all the on readings are the same as well basically (also same kanji if u use hanja in korean)
yea true 🤣
also id recommend any yuzusoft vn as first vn
or key VNs
anything slice of life
or aokana also goated
if u want smth unique thats still not too hard vocab wise id say go with 白昼夢の青写真
How to add yomichan dict? Theres no buttons in extension settings
https://vndb.org/u203976/ulist?vnlist=1 i hope this works, its my vndb list i can recommend creating one too if u start vns
helps u see your progress
open options
click this and then import your dictionaries
or if u downloaded my library go to import dictionary collection under "security"
Oh so Ive downloaded something else
yomichan is dead i think
its the same but old ver of yomitan
get yomitan from chrome store its the one thats still getting updates
and u can use it for korean or a lot of other languages as well now
Both zip and json dont work
u trying under security --> import dictionary collection too ?
not normal dictionary import ?
hmm
lemme check then
i need to import them too atm cuz im on laptop so ill try too
Theres no such a button
did u toggle advanced in bottom left ?
for me its working perfectly with the json under import dictionary collection
1.8million rows of dictionaries 💀
It this a combined data from multiple dicts?
yea i got like 10 dictionaries
and one monolingual one is 500mb
so ull find an entry for literally anything there LOL
i think i didnt even include my chinese and korean dics
if u need help to set up textractor etc for VNs go look at my message under pins

@full mauve
I wonder if @dusky carbon gets it
xd

seeing this accuracy makes me want to play osu again and try to get 99 acc
😭 I can't

Outline:
0:00 How I would learn Japanese in 1 year
0:58 The most important paradigm shift to learn Japanese
1:26 The 1 year game-plan ...
I have learnt that I don't need to be able to recall every kana perfectly before moving on
そうですね
w
wow
Just got an e-mail that my JAL flights got shifted to another time
They said i can receive a full refund or get re booked etc
Plot twist the flight went from 14:30-15:40 to 14:25-15:40💀💀💀
My Ryanair flight today got moved back 30+mins without any prior notice or notification meanwhile JAL makes such a drama about 5 minutes i cant
5 mins 💀💀💀💀💀
reminds me of a few days before i flew to singapore, i got an email saying my flight delayed and it was only 5 mins 💀💀💀💀💀
no prior notice sucks
id rather all airlines just tell people if they're gonna adjust the time
Asian airlines be like
Fr
fr
Sounds like a based airline tbh, either that or it's just a thing in their policies that they have to follow, such as "If your flight is cancelled, delayed or shifted to another time you're entitled to a full refund or rebooking" without a specification for how small or large of a time shift it must be
But honestly
5 minutes is practically just margin of error
I can't believe they announced a time shift for it lmao
fr
JAL do be one of the best airlines on this planet tbh
just the fact that theyre the only operator to have the dreamliner in a 8 abreast instead of 9 config says a loot
and theyre still competitive price wise
like finnair wouldve cost me 920€ for my flights and JAL I paid like 1000€
ill gladly pay 80€ more for that juicy legroom awesome food and wider seats on a 14hrs flight lmao
fuk
now they changed my international flights for a whole 24hrs tho
wtf
thats actually annoying af
got one day less in yokohama then welp
wait nvm ill just add that day at the end then since ill be flying back a day later too so its not a biggie ig
Gyze whats up
i just wrote my first ever formal japanese email
took me half an hour
for 5 lines
oh
i made a typo
i just noticed
NOOOOO
it should be までに i forgor the ni
fml
What's with this cursed ahh font that has the bottom part connected on さ
that's just japan in general, i heard their train schedules are extremely strict as well
it's just font vs handwriting
same goes for smth like り
which is connected in font but separate in handwriting
the Study Kanji app has font previews for all of the characters so you can see the variations
Am I ever going to have to read handwriting?
good thing it's only stuff like, strokes being connected or not
so eitherway you should be able to read it ig
kana anyway
if you're learning stroke order, that also helps read handwriting
yea its like english u also never write a like a printed a right
wow that was a lot of a's
@modern jolt I have a present for you
f vs fi
Most fonts feature removing the dot in "fi", but i in other contexts is normal
If you can see it on mobile, then use Google Chrome.
See, the i has no dot
It has the curly bit of f instead
Only works with lowercase
Yeah
フィ (fu + smol i)
in case you were curios how you would write that in (kata)kana
Fi in Japanese is ひ
that's hi
は?
tho ig same thing
I thought in Japanese hi/fi was the same
Why is smol i different from normal i
フィルム film
It modifies the character before it
That's ha
No, I'm just surprised
Ohhh
は?is "huh?"
smol i modifies the vowel in the character before it

I wish, most I know atm is the kana

I've been busy this week so I haven't had time to practice either
I don't even know kana
have you done katakana yet? :o
or just hiragana for now
Katakana is part of the 71 kana, right?

Atleast I'm hoping it is
Cause fuck me if I have to learn another 71 more
Oh ffs
Do you know these ガャルゲ
katakana is the same set of sounds as hiragana
but different characters
What does this day
Low-key not a clue
Yeah you need to learn katakana
Or be like me and don't know it
(don't be like me)
@cursive dock Does this thingy app not have katakana?
katakana is mainly used for borrowed/foreign words and names, and also sometimes used as emphasis when a word is written in katakana instead of hiragana/kanji
it does
there's a switcher button
in the hiragana page
Fucking switcher button
Or to just make it easy to differentiate between consecutive words without kanji
in my experience these are pretty easy to forget about xd since they're used less frequently
and all reading aids (furigana) use hiragana
Lux
Why is #🎲︱rolls give me so bad characters all the time
Like they're not even from anime
Spent like 3 days learning hiragana, time to spend 3 months learning katakana then probably forget it all
so hiragana you will always remember by just studying other stuff, katakana you have to keep remembering it by actively reading things in katakana
:(

I shall try
But my ass really doesn't feel like studying after spending 6 hours at work
So we'll see
How much I can get done
3 days for hiragana is very fast
All the katakana I know are the ones @hearty socket used as his server username
no need to rush katakana imo
the slower you learn it the better, so it goes into long term memory
hiragana is fine to learn fast cuz it's always present
To make it more confusing, Japanese sometimes has kanji for loan words
Like ペイジ (page) has a kanji version I think
Actually moght be wrong here
i think it just has japanese words for loan words

japanese words that existed even before the loan words in question
Time to take 13 years to learn kata

Sleep time
I'm so dead
I can finally not wake up at 6:30
12 hour sleep here I come

水の呼吸、一の方!
Actually idk if you watched demon slayer or not
Erik gets it
aw hyoudai sleep, no pjsk later ig
wat
i dont know any demon slayer bro
The gif you sent was a demon slayer
omg no lmfaooooo
Who uses 水の呼吸
ye like 硝子 is always garasu
chinese loan words r the worst tho
拉麵 = らーめん
麻雀 = マージャン
like you never have kanji readings with ー with normal japanese kanji its just chinese loan words that are hell on earth cuz they have special readings
its ページ and yea it got a kanji too (頁)
que was too difficult to pronounce so they changed it into jan
@abstract mist we were doing it all wrong
Book titles on a pic:

Kaname Naito's Kanji Video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exkXaVY...
Mf just makes "hot take" videos at this point
uhm not rlly anymore
I can kinda guess what this vid is about without even watching it lmao
He'll prolly say you dont need to learn stroke order etc i bet
Or like hand writing
Kinda true but again some ppl rlly enjoy it and learn faster through it so it might not be a waste of time for them
yeah pretty much, tldr learn vocab and you'll learn to recognize kanji that way
but i tend to easily forget stuff that way long term
physically drawing the characters is helpful for me
he also brings up onyomi and kunyomi readings being not as useful, but idk about that
i mean learning ALL the kun / on readings for a single kanji is low key useless yes but otherwise its rlly helpful huh
Especially on yomi readings can help you read words you dont even know yet
ill take a look at the vid when im home ig
close enough right
also picked 英 once when asked for "tea"
damn i still remember a surprising amount of N4 kanji (not that much but way more than i remember remembering)

I'm not overly worried about kanji atm tbh
I haven't even started learning katakana yet because I've been busy and haven't felt like learning
kurzgesagt japanese moment
love that they included japanese two times LOL
the animators must love anime or smth

just watched the vid and I agree that just learning Kanji without vocab is a waste of time but idk why he says that learning stroke order etc is bad as well and should be done after u know all the kanji already huh
and the japanese guy saying learning kanji is useless is also crazy
like bro its clearly still learning kanji if you learn the reading for 小学生
its just one reading of the kanji but its still kanji no matter how you put it
you dont need to learn all the readings of a kanji to know that kanji wtf
yeah feels like he's just learning the same stuff but thinking about it differently
but oh well ig a mindset change can help motivate some people
yea exactly
i think he shouldve talked about not learning how to write at all
id personally say u dont really need to learn how to write at ALL if you dont think it helps you with motivation or remembering kanji
as long as you dont plan on living in Japan knowing how to hand write kanji as like 0 advantages except maybe being able to read handwriting better but even that can be trained through just reading more
helps with reading handwriting
but other than that it's not important
i find it fun to learn stroke order tho so idm, drawing kanji characters is just fun in general
preference ofc
@full mauve I prefer 金髪 though
😭😭😭😭
low key my least favourite hair colpr
For me its 白髪 & (緑の)黒髪>>>>>
like irl i think black is actually the best
black fits every style of clothes basically and always looks elegant
I wish I had black hair😭
WHY
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
@full mauvewas this an accident in speech
idk i just dont think it looks good maybe cuz its pretty normal here in germany
no ?
how can you use は twice in a sentence
私はそんなつもりは(なかった)
very sad
つもりはない is kinda like a set phrase
I see
just imagine it like a math problem
u know how u derive e^3x
first u derive the outer function then the inner right
imagine the sentence having an outer sentence and an inner
flx you cute
👍
ok but I always thought は was like the = in math that you can't use multiple times
really? 😭 black is so boring
grass is always greener on the other side ig
black is cold af wdym
idk i find black really boring
lol i guess its really rare and unnatural often times so i see where u coming from
Prolly cuz where u live most ppl got black hair LOL
mhm grass is greener on the other side
Where I live most people have black hair but they're cute
For me its special since i live in europe
Flx is a true aryan
Black hair is like a shiny pokemon

💀💀💀💀
I dig redheads
idk why but i think the most attractive thing is actually hair
I think being healthy is the most attractive thing, in which case I'm the least attractive person on earth
idk why its so crazy pretty to me but it is what it is maybe i have a hair fetish
💀💀💀
wdym healthy
Like eat healthy or what
idk

mapper flx
Doesn't mean it's not pretty
The prettiest woman I've ever seen in my life has dark brown eyes and black hair

mapper flx that literally never finishes a map but just maps to first kiai
also noticed that kiai is prolly 気合い lol
fair
honestly
pretty is the hairstyle
not necessarily the hair colour in most cases
Personally she could have the most L looking bowl cut but if its black hair id say it looks good 💀
thats insane 💀
ok flx I will watch classroom of the elite
Better say your mom
Otherwise she'll kill you

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
銀髪ずき
Idk what kanji these are
Sorry flx
@cursive dock uh yeah totally
You're mom
i'm mom
hi mom
@full mauve honestly I already watched classroom of the elite before and I'm not sold on the premise at all. Like, who the fuck pays all these taxes for the government to be able to afford all that?
Also, they're bullying the D class for no reason, and no, "the rule that you don't get money if you get in trouble or get bad grades is on page 230 of the contract" DOES NOT make the adults less responsible for the situation
The teachers are just sadists at this point
They're being treated like basically prisoners. Instead of being taught the socially acceptable behaviors to reduce the amount of offenses, the children are let free. Does the government have any intent to make this experiment a success?
If the point of an experiment is to see how good the idea is (it's a terrible, expensive, land-wasting idea), then maybe put effort into making it work
I think the teachers (especially the たにんの先生) needs their license revoked. They're the role models to their children, and most importantly, it's their duty to support their children, instead of saying "haha you are D class, that means you will inherently grow up to be a homeless druggie"
Also it's kinda chuunibyouppoi
With the German/French quotes in the beginning and end of the episode. And the whole "hiding your actual ability" thing, just screams delulu
its not realistic ye but thats like literally every LN
Lol
If u want realistic dont read LN
Read 実用書
it doesn't need to be realistic, it needs to be believable
Like, Frieren is believable as fuck no questions asked
