#Frequent performance issues after recent update

Not a specific bug, per say, but it seems like there was a performance regression after the most recent update (v1.6.0). Frequently when I enter a room, the application will freeze for 2-3 seconds before loading the preview of the enemies. It looks a lot like a garbage collection frame spike or something similar.

It is possible this only occurs in sprint mode -- I haven't been paying close enough attention to tell.
