The ‘view season reward’ button literally has a gem in it. There is otherwise no point in grinding the crown gamemode other than for badges, and there is 0 way for free-to-play players to earn gems. Although gems is a premium currency, it should be available to all players as it provides great progression if items are bought in the shop. Personal suggested divisions are:
1st: 500 gems
Top 10: 300 gems
Top 50: 200
Top 100: 150
Top 500: 100
Top 1000: 50
Top 5000: 25 (or nothing)

I said something like this a whille ago - also - typixel responded saying the only way they make profit is through gems being bought - so sorry - dont think this will happen.
Also - I support it, like its fair but yeah.. All I think is they should REMOVE that gem in the "view season rewards"

It's gonna be the anniversary of this thread in a month
But since we're here the right amount of gems should be something like this:
1st: 250 gems , 5k coins
2nd: 150 gems , 4k coins
3rd: 100 gems , 3k coins
Top 10: 50 gems
Top 25: 25 gems
Top 50: 2k coins
And maybe add a skins shop where you can buy skins with gems cause most people that score high in leaderboard are already lvl 14 and gems are useless once you get lvl 14
