#Can't copy and paste images

I've just started using Notesnook PRO. If I copy some text from another app and paste it into a note, it works as expected. But if I copy an image (using the Mac's Screenshot app or CleanShot X) and try to paste it, nothing appears in the note. Copy and pasting an image into other apps works.

Notesnook 3.0.18 on macOS 14.7. I expect I'm doing something incorrectly. Thanks for any advice!

This used to happen to me on macOS 14.6.1 iirc, but I'm not able to reproduce it right now on macOS 15.0, not sure what the deal is. I do remember being annoyed by this.

For me, I couldn’t paste images in at all, and it just would embed a blank/empty box into the note. If it matters, I’d copy the images from Firefox or the Discord app on macOS most of the time when it happened.

Thank you so much for your information. Your report is very helpful to me, as I figured this issue was unique to me because I was doing something incorrect, or I had some unique issue on my computer.

I just started using Notesnook PRO on macOS 14.6.1, and I've never been able to paste an image. Before reporting it I felt I should update to 14.7, but it doesn't work there either.

I don't usually update to the next version of macOS until it's been out for a while. But I'll consider updating to 15 since paste is working for you.

Yeah, I totally understand the hesitancy to upgrade to the latest version of macOS, I just really wanted iPhone mirroring lol.

I don't know if this info will be important to you, but the only show-stopping bug in 15.0 that I've seen and find really annoying is that on some VPN connections (like Wireguard and OpenVPN, (my VPN blocks anything that doesn't go through the tunnel, except LAN traffic)), iMessage and other apple continuity features like Focus mode sync, iPhone mirroring notifications (only notifications, mirroring still works), idk about iOS widgets on desktop as I only use the macOS-native widgets) all don't work on my mac when connected. For me it seems to only work on IPSec/iKev VPN connections. I don't know if this is important to you, but I know for some it can cause a problem. I upgraded to 15.0.1 today and still appear to have this issue, so do keep it in mind if you decide to upgrade.

WOW! Thank you so much for your time and effort describing the show-stopping bug you've seen in 15.0. I really appreciate it. I don't do much with VPNs. I paste a ton of images in the notes app I'm migrating off of, so being able to paste images in Notesnook is way more important to me than the VPN issue. I'll update to 15.0.1 and report how it affects image pasting, probably tomorrow. Thanks again!!!

I updated my Mac to version 15.0.1 and ran my usual tests. Unfortunately, I’m still encountering the same issue that I saw in versions 14.6.1 and 14.7: pasting an image simply doesn’t work.

I always swap the Control and Command keys using System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Modifier Keys. On a hunch, I tried unswapping them, and pasting an image using Command-V worked! I re-swapped them, and discovered that pressing Command-V (but not Control-V) pastes the image. It turns out that Command-V continues to function as the paste command, regardless of how the Modifier Keys are mapped.

A bit of background: I’ve been doing contract programming on Macs since 1986 (starting with the original 9” Mac—fun to experiment with, but not ideal for serious programming). Over the years, I’ve spent about 15 years working on Macs, including all of the last 3-4 years. One of the first settings I configure on any new Mac is swapping the Control and Command keys, and I’ve never had an issue pasting with Control-V until now.

It seems that Notesnook may be processing these keys before macOS applies the swap. It would be fantastic if Notesnook could process these keys post-swap.

Thank you so much for all your help and support!
