Just as the title says, I inserted the Yubikey and it always has error that tells me I cannot register it

#

Whats the error? What browser are you using?

winter jolt
#

I am using the Macos Client, haven't tried on broswer yet, will do today

gentle cradle
#

Can you give the error?

winter jolt
#

Hi it's 3am in the New York now

#

I will copy and paste the info with screenshot here

Later in the morning

@gentle cradle I tested on the web broswer and it can be registered, however for the desktop client it is like this

gentle cradle
#

Which web browser did you try it on?@winter jolt

#

macos client instead of browser

#

the latest v3beta macos client

#

Just updated to the v3 public release version, Yubikey still cannot be registered on the MacOS client, works for the web browser tho, bumping this

gentle cradle
#

@winter jolt how far along do you get with the registration after which it throws the error?

After I inserted the Yubikey and touched it to verify

I get the same error in Linux appimage. On the wep app it never even recognize my yubikey.

I get the same error using the v3 MacOS desktop app (non-beta) and Yubikey.

#

Is there an ETA on a fix for this?

gentle cradle
#

I don't have a yubikey so can't really reproduce it

rancid osprey
#

Is there anything that we can do — provide logs etc. to help?

gentle cradle
#

I'll look into it further and post here if I need something

Thanks!

Was just about to post this myself. On Linux, appimage

#

For me it works on the web app (Brave, latest flatpak). Interestingly, after registering my key on the web app, my data was still accessible after logging in on the desktop app.

#

There should be a distinction between locking the app with a security key vs registering the key with the account itself.

#

if only one of those is implemented it should be clear to the user

gentle cradle
#

The security key is not connected to your account. It is only for the App Lock. I mean it is literally in the App Lock section in Settings.

That's misleading

gentle cradle

It's not misleading. It is a bug that will be fixed.

Any ETA for a fix of this?

gentle cradle
#

@rancid osprey I haven't been able to reproduce it, and since I don't have a YubiKey fixing this will be hard.

rancid osprey
#

Would it help if I sent logs etc.

I’ve got a few - 5ci, 5nfc, 5c nfc, etc

Just seeing if you wanted a key to help

gentle cradle

#

Yeah I’ve got it registered for web, I can check the Mac client in about 30 minutes for you

If I had to guess, U2F relies on the domain name for the actual key to work, so whether desktop app isn’t passing the correct domain/any domain, potentially that is a cause of the issue? Just spitballing, as I know the concepts of U2F but I’m not a coder by any means

gentle cradle
#

Let me give it a try again.

#

Yeah I am now getting an error too

#

The problem is that you can't enroll the same key to the same domain twice.

#

I can reproduce it now.
