M42-Im curious what can can be pull out of this stack.
1 year into astrophotography so im still learning and trying to improve my processing/work flow. It would be nice to compare results with others. 2 stacks-5s exposure for core and 25s exposure for nebula. 250 fl and 2.9 micro pixel size. 4h total integration time. Moon ~85%
M42-Im curious what can be pull out of this stack.
might try later
Here’s my edit
I did this on my laptop that isn’t color corrected so it might be a little chopped but
This is pretty good
why are there 2 files tho?
to blend the core so its not blown
I like colors. My version is a bit washed out
The core on both isn’t completely blown out so you can just carefully edit it
Without blending them
That’s what I did
Just 25s subs so both might be good
Yes
If you were using more like 60sec + then maybe it would be blown out
Just as long as it isn’t on the subs
25s for Orion is usually fine
Yeah I will need longer subs, I was using gain 200 to try how it performs
so i needed to cut exposures
Well you don’t need longer subs exactly
Longer subs can help for the outer region of dust
But not for the core
How much integration did you get
around 4h
Oh yeah I see now with the moon
Yeah that was the problem also:)
Definitely do it without the moon and maybe double the exposure
Or more ofc
It’s looking good, just that dust needs more work
brotha did u stretch the stars at all?
the nebula looks flat and the bg needs some work, but the stars are a bit of a problme
how could i get the nebula to look not flat?
use more contrast
and even if u want some dust dont push it too much as it's as bright as the mid brightness neb
Unfortunatelly it was shoot under nearly full moon. I guess pulling out dust wont be easy if possible at all. Also 2h of data was shoot through top clouds cover. I couldnt do it and seems like others struggle too. As juju.ziggy said need more data, ideally without Moon on the sky. Probably gonna get more data next year. Orion is to low atm and at my location theres a sky glow at south-west.
it literally says why there are 2 files
That looks nice (have to look at it again on my desktop when I get home) . Have you use both files? I can see 1 thing that is similiar to my version. Core is not blown but its a bit washed out. Any chance to share workflow?
Yeah i used both
I could share my workflow but unless you're using PI it might be a little pointless
lol
i don't know how to merge 2 files tho đź’”
do u like normally stack em?
im not sure how youd do it in siril.
Oh yeah im on siril
I use photoshop. Siril cant do it i guess.
You basically line up both pictuers after processing, nebula on top with core as bottom layer, create mask and use brush to reveal bottom layer. Something like that
Just simple processing on core(bge, color, stretch, denoise). For nebula full workflow
Probably can be done in gimp if you dont have photoshop.
@still topaz just a lil proof that its indeed possible to push dust and not get so much flat neb yes indeed hard i get it.
might retry tho i'ma try to get a better result
also just a lil dust visible tho, so get this in consideration of what i'm calling dust
I agree. This was my first time shooting orion, I guess my expectation way a bit to high on that dust with just 4h of intergration(and shot in way less than ideal conditions).
yeah fr
but like its not bad
just not best thing ever
i've never gotten an image like that tbh, i have no good setup
@still topaz yeah much better than last time ig
looks good:) are you processing in siril?
