Modernising an 80s telescope (Tanzutsu 114/1000)
yea itll need a new mount. Might wanna try and get a vixen bar on it. That would allow you to use any mount basically
not sure how you can do that though
maybe new rings?
i was researching this, but yeah new rings might end up being a good play
what rings and dovetail do i end up getting?
i was looking at this but the telescope has a length of like nearly 400mm
so i have no clue
oh nevermind there are longer ones
i mean tbf this telescope isnt actually a newtonian
but i'll definitely need them for sure if i need to mount it to another eq mount
its very similar to a newt, but the interior is just different
oh nvm they list it as a reflector
okay wait a second, no i see what you mean now
ah its actually a Catadioptric system
i dont have any proper diagram what it looks like, and taking a photo of it is really annoying to do
but essentially the eyepiece being on the side of the telescope near where light exits the eyepiece is looking into a mirror mounted on the front of the inside of the telescope which that mirror is angled to the back mirror
concave mirror specifically
