#2025 Heart Nebula imagers (and multiscale mosaic?)
140 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
it’s a good nebula
I didn't bring it to a finish though...Started the middle part, got 3h on that. Then decided to do a 4 panel mosaic, got only 2h per panel
i did in august with my 585m, 2 panel mosaic. but im redoing it now that i got my 533m
Haven’t finished it yet
the heart of the heart is so sexy man
I gotchu fam (well I'm starting to at least, this is the only data I have)
took it under a full moon so it's pretty meh (this is actually a diagnostic image)
I'm thinking, if everyone's willing to pool together some data, we could build a composite of all our images
I am in if anything. I can contribute 3h of a middle part and 2 hours per panel on mosaic I posted. My subs are 2min OSC via Ha-O3 filter
One of my panels is pretty much a fish head shot
We can use @clever sedge or @halcyon lily's data as the base image
@slim radish and I are covering the same region but I'm happy to dump in more time on the core (Melotte 15)
Ping me if my data can be of any use
Sure
workin on it
i'll process soon... â„¢
shooting a 3:2:4 ratio of SHO really helped with colors
i was gonna do 3:2:4 too
With your current panel we can probably combine it with @clever sedge's Fish Head closeup if he's cool with that
Random Ha session waiting for comets to rise
So what I'm thinking, for those who are interested in contributing, is building a multiscale mosaic out of your processed images. Process them however you like (probably best if you try to be distinct from those surrounding you) and then they'll all be overlaid on the base image
2025 Heart Nebula imagers (and multiscale mosaic?)
It'll be a bit chaotic, but it'll be nice to have touches of our own processing throughout the image
How much time/what instrument?
4h WO z81 imx571mm IDAS ~7nm
sounds like a METAR but I parsed all of it lmao
with some tinkering, faffing, and fiddling, i'm going to bed.
to be continued with processing at a later date, i think i can still do some tunings
yea i need to work with the stars a bit more as well
but i'm exhausted from gram so that needs to wait
who knew conferences were so tiring?
Solid HSS result on IC1805.
WO z81 reduced to 450mm f/5.5
Imx571mm
IDAS SH filters
85x 300s Ha
76x 300s SII
my first attempt at processing, ill try to redo with Ha and Oiii separation tn
aw man i think im missing data from that part
S2
How much data for this one?
18 hours or something like that
Ohh, okay, that makes a lot of sense. I was worried that I had badly misprocessed my data with 2 hours of H-alpha (on a full moon to boot)
But that's just nowhere near enough it seems
Current state (HOO, 2 hours per panel per channel). Debating whether to get S-II, H-alpha, or O-III tonight
Yeah I'm inspired to go for it myself
why make square when polygon
Especially when you save as a PNG and make the background transparent
no issues, just 3 separate images from different kits, and times that happen to have some overlap.
oh yeah ofc, but there is a weird dark area right in the center
looks unnatural
Am I spotting the Maffei galaxies in there
and trust me i've been looking at stitching issues for WEEKS ðŸ˜
FINALLY got it perfect today tho
Small oof
🤷 oh well, not intended to be a masterpiece. one pannel is maybe an hr, one was actually osc converted to grey scale. im not to concerned with something looking 'weird' to someone.
ah, i see
not meant for a clean image, just a curiosity
crazy how there's not issues with SNR differences?
I wasnt really aware of abell 6 and hfg1 and the relationship in position to ic805, so i stitched those 2 together, but then i had lots of blank space, so i looked for something else I had to help fill some gaps
thats where the soul came in
and i thought it was kind of interesting
@celest ledge would you be interested in contributing your data to the multiscale mosaic project I'm trying to work on?
what are we mosaicing?
yeah sounds neat
All of the Heart Nebula images people are sharing here, should they want to contribute. A giant patchwork
Representing everyone's different processing styles and FOVs
ohhhh, so not a regular mosaic, just a wall of hearts?
I was thinking of astrometrically aligning all of our data and layering it together into a chaotic quilt, but this would also be cool
You got any Heart data?
30 hrs
Hell yeah
i'll show it when starx finishes on the cygnus mosaic lol
I'll create a place for people to dump their platesolved FITS files (after processing) and I'll figure out the registration and layering
like maybe take a base heart image, and divide it into number of sections as there are contributors, and assign each segment to a contributor, then have each contributor submit their platesovled section?
then stich all the segmetns together
why is it not possible to use photometric mosaic with a synthetic star field or something :(
It may need to be broken down into segments because a) many people may image at similar scales and I'd like to ensure they're all represented, and b) some of us are imaging at very small scales and it would be better to process those segments from a small scale up
Like I'm focusing on the core, and I may layer my portion onto nexy's, then layer nexy's onto someone else's
oic
But I will align everything astrometrically at the end of the day
most of my data in this region is pretty wide, 130, 270, 450. not too much that focus on mellot 15
here it is
Here's the place to upload the files: https://1drv.ms/f/c/4f69734a5f0092dc/EiTmMWflsQhHkI9JviC5HnsBfgXhKGjnFrpya8I74KK7yA?e=pjmb0T
Include a platesolved FITS (strongly preferred) or XISF file of your final process that you'd like to contribute to the mosaic, and be sure the filename includes your Discord name so I know who contributed what portion.
Tagging @carmine mural @celest ledge @wispy spear @halcyon lily, and it's open to anyone who wants to contribute.
Let me know if you run into any issues with uploading
Actually @civic marsh (congratulations, you are the chosen one) do you mind pinning the message with the upload link in this thread?
do you take xisf?
i can't for the life of me get pix to save the platesolve to a fits for some reason
Sure (edited post to mention that). As long as I can open it in SIRIL and keep the platesolve data it's all good
Chromaticity map of the core (O - H)
@ruby breach Added my file. It's my first and only mosaic attempt so far, so if its not up to the quality to be included in the project, I'll understand 🙂
Thanks! My goal is to try to incorporate everyone who is interested in participating
I might have to split your panels to do so, and if that's the case I may ask you to send me just one panel
this is how jpg looks
Because so many people have images of the full nebula I'll likely have to chop them up as part of the assembly
I also have this section separately, let me know if it can be of use
I think this would actually be really cool. A true patchwork image
And a great tribute to everyone in the community
Feel free to upload it - not sure which regions I'll incorporate yet
It'll be a neat project
i can't upload it to the drive cause my microsoft account storage is full lol. ill put it here if someone wants to put it in
Got it, thanks
Also want to loop in @slim radish @clever sedge @silent skiff in case you want to join in
Looks like XISF plate solve solutions don't carry over to SIRIL...I'll have to figure out another way of doing this
I might write an XISF library just to solve this issue, but in the meantime I will encourage FITS format submissions
From what I found, Pix platesolves are incompatible with FITS, so if you use pix you can't save it unless you use XISF
Me when I'm in a "who can take more L's" contest and my opponent is PixInsight
That's actually embarrassing
W**t the actual hell
i only have Ha data
i’ll get some o3 and s2 too
I was thinking about imaging tonight but the humidity is super high. I took a couple frames and then decided I wasnt gonna deal with soggy kit so I packed it up. Here are my 2 frames of 10m in S2 on Mellot 15 stacked that i got for my troubles.
I just added my RedCat Heart data
