I'd do a larger newtonian instead of a mak

I was told newtonians have issues with chromattic aberation, or is that just an issue with the toy-grade ones? Wait, sorry, I meant refractor, newtonians have issues with collumation, right? I see these telescopes have support structures in front of the lens, won't that be detrimental for lunar photos as opposed to deep sky images?

Yes they need to be collimated but it is not difficult to collimate them

They are the best for planetary and lunar

(for their price)

For planetary and lunar, to get the most detail you need a large scopr

I'd be using a tring adaptor and a proper DSLR, not the smartphone stuff

try to look for a 150mm dobson, especially if you only want to take lunar pics

the focuser might be too high to work with a dslr but it's hard to say by just looking

or the 2" version

The telescope says it comes with 1.25" eyepeices so I assume I'd need the 1.25" one? (Again, honestly don't know)

the focuser is 2" with an adapter for 1.25"

Oh, I see! Good catch, thank you.

again, it's not guaranteed your camera will focus with it

not without some modifications

Oh, you're right, just looked it up, it won't focus.

that's normal with most telescopes intended for visual

That's fair, I guess I'll leave it for now.

So, been doing some more research, it seems some telescopes you can remove the tube part to be able to get a DSLR to focus? Any idea if there is a list of known good telescopes that can do that or is it just a folly to try and force a DSLR to do astro with a telescope?

You'd probably want an imaging telescope which is made for camera's like a dslr. Which has a similar focus point with cooled astronomy caneras

been doing more research and came across this https://www.astroshop.eu/telescopes/skywatcher-dobson-telescope-mc-90-1250-heritage-virtuoso-dob/p,33071 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oySbet53cnI It's an Maksutov telescope so should be suitable for use with a DSLR? Seems a reasonable price too.

We take a detailed look at the Sky-Watcher Heritage Virtuoso 90 and 114P auto-tracking telescopes. These unusual and easy-to-use instruments have some extraordinary features and offer outstanding levels of stability and portability in a comprehensive low-cost package.
