M16 - 2 hour 30 mins B9
just updated to 2 and a half hours
this might be the final image
or i may take more data tonight
@quaint furnace can you have a go on this plss?
get some more hours an ill process it
your data is getting better every time, if i was you i would aim for at least 12 hours total for a epic result.
i would not use drizzle if your not dithering
i can stack for you if you want to send the data
I'll probably do that but I'm afraid clouds are coming
Dss
Yeah I can't dither cuz I don't have a guide camera
I'll stop drizzling the image if so
Oh well these are 1300 images 30mb each
But I can put then in a drive and send to you
hey, welcome to mininerd! great effort, I hope you stick with the hobby
OMG i cant believe that! Thank you so much!!!
i'll put the calibration frames and the lights in the drive
gimme some minutes
i have 46 gigabites of data so give a lot of time lol
the problem is that i can only get 1 hour of imaging per night due to my small window vertical view
half of the data is dowloaded
yeah, something like that
i dont like processing data thats only a couple hours, unless its like bortle 1-3 on a good rig. you've probably also noticed i dont process much on here anymore, its because i dont have as much time as i used to
each process i do can take anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours
Yeah I see
Fr
No problems I'll get more data when possible
gonna take a bit to download, ill have it done as soon as i can
fr 46 gigas is no joke lol7
thank you man! apreciate that!
still downloading lol
lol
how many subs are there, and how long are the subs?
1500 subs 8 secs each
nice
cant take longer than that my track is not good enough for it
its gonna take a bout 12 hours to stack i think then
i will need to use a external hard drive witch slows thing down, 1500 subs will need over 2-300 gig space to process, i wont drizzle but ill use a program called "astro pixel processor" to stack (better than pixinsight in my opinion)
gimme 24 hours and ill have some results.
ok for sure! here it is 5 am so i'll wait for you 5 am tomorow lol
here its friday morning
sun may rise 6am i think
i was imaging moon and neptune rn
nice, i love that kinda stuff
me too but its kinda hard for me yet
thats my first nep attempt so i'm not expecting much
but from the moon i expect many things since its very sharp
not sure
mine is never gonna be like that, my magnification is the same as the moon and m16
but its defiantly Neptune
yeah, i think this can be neptunes moon
crazy
your fl is 1500?
yep
you could get some good planetary data with that
ik but i still dont have a good planetary camera
the best i have is a sv105
the literal worse
when i get to do that i usualy take my sl3 and put it with a barlow 2x
its better than the sv105
less zoom but more details
yes normaly 10 mins long
i use a 2x barlow on a 5 inch sct
what telescope did you use for this nep image?
that was on a 200p quattro
its a hard target to find so i used my deep sky setup
and used plate solving to find it
yeah fr its literaly invisible to see in naked eye
i just got some tracking models in the cpwi to make sure the track was right and then tracked neptune not quite hard i did it in less than 10 mins
also this one i didnt use the barlow cuz i could not aford to lose the focus i already had[
i just put some data up you should have a look
Rn I'm gonna go sleep yes I'm gonna sleep 6am lol
lol understandable
Maybe tomorrow since my dad is gonna take the notebook I use on a trip he's going, but he'll be back soon
Lol
Thanks man!
man i still dont know how your not mininerd or mega nerd
you should join the next masterprocessor competition
yay!
you definitely can dither without guiding. Just use direct guider in nina.
I've been doing it for years
how can i do that? i have only discovered how to use my pc as a control for my mount in the last months so idk how to use nina
just connect to "direct guider" in the guiding equipment tab
it's basically a dummy guider that doesn't actually guide but it lets you dither
you just need the dither after exposures trigger in your imaging sequence
want me to process this data btw?
yes pls
so nina would dither based on the exposures that i'm gonna integrate?
no it basically just dithers "blindly"
all dithering needs is a very small slew signal sent to the mount
the problem is that my 127slt mount is like if i click it to go upwards after i track it it goes up and the star starts to move around until it just stops again in a diferent position
its a kind of natural dither lol
oh you're using an altaz mount?
it also does it for it self like it just don like to be with the star stoped
yep thats one of the problens
well I'll see what I can do with the data
sheeesh this file is huge
yeah lol
like the other guy said, if you're not dithering then there's basically no sense in drizzling
why? i fr dont know
also are you
or
?
the way drizzling works is that it takes images that are in different places to sort of pull out more detail where they overlap. Idk it's hard to explain but basically if all the images are in exactly the same spot then no new detail can be pulled out by drizzling
I do siril
oh ok i think i got it
do you have any paid softwere?
like noiseX or blurX?
cuz if not your gonna strugle a bit with noise i think
nah I'd upgrade my gear before getting new software
I use graXpert denoise and it does the job. Not as good as noiseX but still decent
well here where i live getting a new softwere would be better cuz pix here is 500 reais and a better setup abour 20.000 reais
Bold of you to assume I struggle with anything 😈
graxpert strugled a bit with this much noise in my process as you can see in the first process
you said the subs were 8s right?

yeah I'm not surprised at this SNR then
What scope and mount are you using?
sl3 canon and a 127slt celestron
the mount, telescope and camera are stock
yeah upgrading to an EQ mount would be a lot better
goodness starnet just butchered this data
ik but well this mount here was 13k
a eq mount would cost me like 20 to 30k
and i dont have this money
lol why?
what currency?
dude that's like $5k USD what kind of mount would cost that much
5k usd here is 25k reais
what mount were you looking at
well sorry i mean its 25k reais with the importation and taxes
if its only the price it self its 5k i think
but never less than that
which mount
i think this is the less priced one
that is goto
💀
what?
and what scope are you planning on putting on that?
brazilian money is worthy nothing around the world
probably the same one i have today the 127slt
I doubt that's gonna work
you probably need an EQ5 for a 5" scope
too heavy?
yeah
well so i think eqs mounts are gonna be a thing for me from the future to work on
a good rule of thumb is to use 50% of the advertised payload capacity for imaging to ensure good tracking
since i'm also 14 i think 1k usd is def out of my budget
because the advertised capacity usually isn't good for imaging
@unborn turtle lemme quick finish up this process
ok!
not great but it's the best I could do with this much data
i said graxpert would not be able to denoise all of it lol]
idk how the other JJJ guy got his so smooth. I'm guessing some sort of extreme AI denoising like topaz or something (not good)
he used noiseX
its paid cuz its good i think
well the SNR isn't good so I don't blame it lol
lol
btw what is snr?
understood sir lol
signal to noise ratio. Basically how much data there is vs how much noise there is in image
30 hours already where is it?
lol
Where?
Understood
problem is there is some bad weather here and there is power outages all over the place, lets hope my power stays on until its done.
oh wow this stacking is just better!
siriL wasnt working to do the rgb alinment so i did it my self lol
i think its great
if i was able to do that i think your stacking is defnetly 1000000000000000000x better
