I feel like astronomy and astrophotography will get a huge boost due to the incoming gen of smart telescopes (theyre cheap and convinient for kids and family), so this server will probably continue with constant new members for the time being

Yea i know, but i feel like the effort of setting up and polar aligning and all the other stuff with a conventional setup gets eliminated with smart telescopes

I feel like both points are valid here. Both have their goods and bads. I personally stand with the non smart telescope sides. I have no right to tell you what you should follow and vice versa so its our choice what to support. But in the end we should all be supportive of each other (smart scope or no smart scope) as we all have a mutual passion for astronomy and astrophotography.

I don't know how old you are, or your ethnic/religious background, but I am an entirely straight middle-aged male; however I support the right of people to be who they want to be if it doesn't negatively impact others. This is the principle that the server has pinned it's flag to. Times change brother, some ideologies established when were living tribally, without the ability to communicate with the rest of the world, have to go. They served a purpose of order/continuity in small, tight knit communities, but are now defunct and we must consider our brothers and sisters globally, love and care for others demands it of us.

In all seriousness - if you're in an environment where you would face negative consequences for being part of or supportive of a community using an LGBT server icon, I'm really sorry you have to deal with that, but you have plenty of plausible deniability with it being pride month. If you're in Europe I'm sure many companies are doing the same thing with their logos or profile pictures on social media - and it'll probably change back in July.

That being said, if you really aren't okay with this server having an LGBT flag in the icon or LGBT people in it - think about all of the knowledgeable contributors to this community you are scaring off by stating that. Not "might be" scaring off, I can guarantee you someone has read these messages and thought "maybe I shouldn't be here?" Perhaps you think scaring off queer people is some kind of an improvement to this server, but we certainly don't.

You can learn to accept and love the queer people in your life, or you can pretend queerness is some abnormality and isolate yourself. I can't choose for you, but for your own sake I hope you choose the higher path.

The key part about inclusivity is to treat everyone fairly or equally. Open and inclusive are two different ideas. To be open is to let everyone in, to be inclusive is to make sure theres fair treatment. You've mis-identified inclusivity to be equivalent to open-ness.
