First time trying 5 min Luminance subs and I will NOT be going back... I shouldn't have stuck with 2 min subs for so long.

This is a fairly bright galaxy and has some cool neighbors nearby.

Open in desktop to see all the smol guys.

I love that you can see the plane of the galaxy is curved

I currently do 2 minute subs. What's the main benefit you're getting? Why would you want to risk a satellite ruining 5 minutes?

Much more signal

#

Of course stacking is just a trick, what we really want is to get that sensor exposed for as long as possible.

#

Also 80% of sats get rejected

B5/6 with no moon takes very nicely to 5 min L subs.

#

And definitely on RGB as they are generally darker.

Oh and beautiful image btw !

Well my comparisons between 2 min and 5 min L subs on this same galaxy were very noticeable

#

I'll send them here later when I get to my computer.

Yep, I find that usually tells a very different story than what's on paper (there are exceptions of course).

I'd be curious to see why in this case

#

I assume you dither?

night hatch

Indeed, every couple subs.

Sorry I wanted to ask drizzle 😅

night hatch

Ahh lol

#

Nah I don't drizzle

#

My pixel scale along with my average seeing conditions would never take advantage of it

I still prefer it for the nicer noise profile but i guess it's not much of an issue when you don't have to debayer
