Just curious how u guys can handle this set of data. My attempt was not satisfactory for me. So feel free to give it a go, I would appreciate that.

after a long time I was able to integrate more than 4h per night. 4 clear nights in a row. Was so pleased and thankful 😁

the stars looks great. Did u use asinh stretch? Mine was a bit flat and without that peak bright spot in the middle. 🤷🏽

what did u guys use for star reduction? I used script in SiriL and smaller stars looks so flat and undefined?

I didnt use any star reduction, just stretched the starless and stars separately

I created a star mask, stretched the green channel, scnr, and then used the star stretch script from seti astro to stretch and saturate then do mtf(~m,(mtf(m,starless)+mtf(m,stars))) m=0.999 pixel math to recombine

recombination done in SiriL using pixel math? brightness looks evenly distributed on smaller stars.
I made pre-stretch in Siril using asinh and then in Ps some additioná tweak, but still it did not compensate that issue.

yea with pixel math. Also I used the generalized hyperbolic stretch

well, pixinsight brings more options to modulate the workflow. I hear for the first time about stretching Green channel and MTF. U use StarXterminator to extract stars? Stranet++ made some nasty green-blueish artefacts where the bigger stars are placed.

I assume it creates better results rather then Ps “Apply image” with “Screen” blending option.

GraXpert beta decon make it a bit harsh, so need to save som money to purchase BlurX and PiX.

Also should include refocus after X number of subs to avoid this to happen again.

I heard that its possible to make automatic refocus after deviation in temperature and/or HFR number. Do u perform it in ur sessions?

I just go with refocus every hour or half hour, and then also on filter change

But that's only needed because of very fast optics, so you won't need to do it quite as often

what optics do u use? F ratio in my case is around 3.5 including coma corretor. Isnt it fast enough to refocus in the way u did?
On the other hand. Rig was all the time outside so temperature drop was slow. therefore would think if so small temperature changes- ~3 degrees -can change focus plane so much. 🤷🏽

I use an f/2.2 RASA 11, which is why I have to refocus so often. Refocusing every hour should be more than enough for you.

well then. Thanks for advice, will try that for sure.

I have had two issues during that session - bad guiding and focus. Did some research on guding problems concerning the FWHM. Guding was througout the night around 1-1.1 arcsec although seeing was perfect - even I had 0.5-0.8 during previous sessions. FWHM was ~3.5-4.5 which means that maybe my guidescope was also a bit out of focus. @valid cove is it possible that guidescope focus correction may lead to better guiding numbers? Whats your opinon? 🤷🏽 Cause I also heard that guidescope should be a bit out to achive better performance.

there are a lot of factors that decide the performance of your guiding, but yes, very slightly defocused stars are often better for your guiding. I don't think 1" is too bad for a HEQ5 with a 150 quattro tho
