Don’t those things are horrible quality
But there are just 5 stars rating and they love this reducer
Also bad for Visual?
Probably if u want u can try it but get a cheaper one prob with no brand it’s the same product they just slap their logo on it
Is the focal reducer from Celestron good?
No 0.5x is good it’s all one manufacturer multiple companies take it and put the logo on it it’s all the same quality get the cheapest one
And u will prob need a 45 degree angle mirror or something like it to be able to focus it
Is a 8“ dob ok?
No like a 45 degree angle to be able to focus something like this
In my opinion it’s not worth it
I need this?
Or something similar just another mirror element otherwise u won’t be able to focus it
Ok good to know thank you
Np
Can I use a 90*?
Yeah another mirror element of any kind should work
As far as I know a 0.5x reducer does not work in combination with a newtonian. You‘re not gonna be able to see anything through that thing.
Depends how you define working or not working. I use the one with my 10” Newtonian both visually and with a camera. The stars aren’t pin point on the edges of the image but if you use region of interest then it’s fine.
yeah, I found that out the hard way lmao, it moves the focal point to inside the telescope
yup
at least it wasnt a really expensive reducer… but sometimes you have to find out the hard way
It was actually hilarious in the moment I was trying to focus it and I just started histerically laughing like how did I not think this was going to happen dude DUH!
If you want a really wide field with a newtonian, you either need a full frame camera or a wide-angle eyepiece.
