Breathtaking man. Absolutely amazing work
Woah, super good!
Dope stuff
I now see what people mean when things look 3D with the svx102
Go check out the data in Share your data
oo
i’ll have to download it today and toy with it on the transatlantic crossing on qm2
how would anyone compare this scope with a esprit 100
im wanting to get a frac
but i really dont know a lot about which scopes are good
but ive seen some cracker stuff with esprit's and this also looks amazing
The Esprit is a great telescope. They are designed very well and have good quality control. They are noticeable faster as well. However, when you have two telescopes with equally good designs and one uses better glass (SVX), it will prevail over the other.
In my opinion the SVX102T is better, and I think raw tests would do such; but the esprit is still an excellent telescope no doubt
Esprit 100 uses 1 FPL-53, 2 BK7, the SVX102T uses 1 FPL-53 1 lanthanum and 1 BK7. The lanthanum is roughly equal to an FPL53, though not quite as good.
But the most important thing is cell configuration and collimation. A scope with 3 FPL-53 elements but a bad configuration will lose badly to a scope with 0 ED elements but a quality designed triplet lens cell.
So my final take for that: if you want the faster scope, get the Esprit. That being said, Vic is working on a .72x reducer for the SVX102T and it should release soon.
I think @thorn sentinel esprit 100 has slight red bloat, but other than that it’s really good
I need mono to test it all individually
If you decide on the SVX dm me, I can help you save some money🙂
*Esprit 80, I wish I had the 100 lol.
Cheap filters so can't confirm. But I do know one other person with the esprit said he gets slightly higher HFR on R.
He has higher quality filters iirc.
Oops
But idk, I've also gotten VERY tight stars in R but only 1 or 2 times 💀, idk wth goin on lol.
Did not know there was an FPL 52
I believe it was pretty inefficient in terms of cost/performance and so it didn’t last long
thanks, thats really informative!
i would like something fast, but also mid-FL, so ~500mm would still be completely fine for me (svx with reducer)
however im 16, so itll take ages to save up, im just trying to get an idea in advance, so ill be able to buy the best scope when i do get the money
I saved up for my 102 for 13 months. Man was it worth it.
The reducer they make right now is .74 which takes you to 5.2 at 528 focal length, the one Vic is working on is .72 takes you to 5 and 514
thing is i also want to get a reducer for my edgehd, since i feel like im oversampled, and its just incredibly slow at f/10
those things are really expensive
so it would still be ideal to not need a reducer/extra cost
but you dont use one right?
Any triplet scope needs a reducer or a flattener
I have a 1x flattener
I couldn’t point you in any direction for a petzval scope with quality like esprit or Stellarvue
PHQs are decent
ah interesting, didnt know they all required a flattener
yea any triplet/doublet design does. Maybe not all of them but most quads and higher lens count need no flattner, but have optional reducers
