you could get a 6 or 8 inch newt or a astrograph like the redcat 51.

#

with the new you could also do planetary.

The Redcat 51 was originally top of my list but I wasn't sure it was a big enough jump from the Samyang to warrant it, so it is nice to see a recommendation for it. I have seen the new Askar 71F which although fairly slow at f/6.9 it seems like a good scope for the money at a 490mm focal length and for just 60% of my budget.
I am also thinking about just holding off for now and trying to increase my budget to cover a RASA 8, though that would bring me closer to the end of the year before I buy and I am impatient when it comes to new toys ๐Ÿ˜‚
When it comes to Newts I know nothing, and that scares me lmao.

newts are easier than you think to deal with, not as care free as a lens or refractor but collimation isn't hard and they're cheap compared to the aperture and fl they get

#

with an heq5 a 150pds or something similar would give you a nice fov change from the 135mm

OK so I have had a look at some Newts, and watched some videos on collimation (which isnt as bad as I thought) and I am warming to the idea, especially when the cost difference is so big it leaves me with money to spare on buying something else too like filters, collimator, reducers, dew heater or anything else that people recommend to compliment a newt.
Next question then is: Which one? lol

I am eyeing up 3 Sky-Watcher Newts, the 150pds the 200pds or the Quattro 150p. Probably leaning towards the Quattro as its apparently has an upgraded focuser (dunno how bad the pds one is in comparison?) is a little faster and comes with a coma corrector. Although I like the idea of the 200pds with reducers when 1000mm FL is a little too extreme. I havent looked at other brands tbh so would like some advice.

What would people recommend?

There are just two brands that make newts at that price range, SkyWatcher and GSO. The issue with GSO is that in EU they are sold via rebrands (eg. TS Optics photon), with the exception of teleskopy.pl (which offers excellent prices).

I prefer the upgrade that you can do on the skywatcher newts, they're very much project scopes

On the cheap range I doubt there's any difference in mirrors and stuff. I don't like the focusers on gso newts personally

#

On skywatchers you can get a cyck or 2047 which are really solid

#

They sell cnc spiders, mirror masks, carbon tubes etc

#

I wouldn't buy the 200p since it's a little too large for the heq5. I lean towards the quattro because it has a reducer included that brings it to f3.5

You get clean spikes, without the weird reflections near the center
